The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You will still be flying blind even with testing. If someone tests negative today, they can go out and lick a bus door handle tomorrow and contract COVID-19. The antibody testing could be helpful... if anyone knew how long having the antibodies would protect a person from reinfection. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Half the states qualify for phase 1. If you cannot watch the pressers to stay informed, reading the synopsis from people who are watching at the time would be helpful to alleviate your fears. Call your state's governor's office and ask them if they have adequate tests, swabs, and lab capabilities for those in need. If you need a test because you are ill, call your doctor and ask for a script to get a test. There are many millions of tests out there, all different sorts of tests. The lab capability is there. Simply call, and put your fears to rest. -

They had a governors call today. You may want to call your governor's office to see if they are low on testing supplies if you are confused. In any event, if you need a test because you have symptoms, contact your doctor so you can get a script. Listening to the briefings, depending on where you live you can go to CVS, WalMart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Kroger... There are 20M swabs out there, millions of tests, a ton of lab capacity. -

I will always pass on Dr Fauci. I listen to Dr Birx at the pressers. Regardless, Trump and Pence have has the same answer for over a week... there is enough testing for the states that are eligible to open based on the phases. If you want a test because you are experiencing symptoms, contact your doctor for a script and go get a test. -

Since I did not see either interview, I cannot reply to what they said, and their mixed messaging. As far as President Trump's testing messaging: he, and VP Pence have been saying since they put out the 3 phases that there are enough tests for the states that qualify, to reopen in phase one. This has been said at presser after presser. If you listened today, you heard all the ways the testing is being scaled-up so the states are prepared for all test results (there have been plenty of tests, the governors were not aware of all the lab capacity). Since the Governors were sent that inches-thick memorandum on available testing (NAZ+telephone number of the labs) that issue has been cleared. Also, there was more information today on the testing, test results, at home testing, etc. So, sit down chicken little. If you want a test, ask your doctor for a script and go get one. -

Judge Grants Restraining Order to Block Extended Stay-at-Home Order Republican State Rep. Darren Bailey of Xenia, Illinois claimed in the lawsuit filed in Clay County Circuit Court that Pritzker exceeded his authority A judge has ruled against Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, issuing a restraining order over the extension of the state’s stay-at-home order, putting the statewide plan in jeopardy. Clay County Circuit Court Judge Michael McHaney ruled against Pritzker's order, granting a restraining order to temporarily block the stay-at-home restrictions set to take effect Friday, according to local reports. "We are certainly going to act in a swift action to have this ruling overturned," Pritzker said in his daily coronavirus press briefing Monday. </snip>

He's said that before on nearly Governors call, which make me think that, not only are their reporters listening in at the behest of certain governors, but that Trump/Trump staff knows exactly who it is. -

Press: If a US President loses more Americans than died in the Vietnam war, does he deserve to be reelected? Trump: Nicely answering. I'd have ignored her. And we are done. -

Press: Travel restrictions? Trump: Depends on how long it takes Europe to heal. Both sides want to open. Press: Kim Jun Un? Trump: Can't talk about it. I wish him well, I hope he's well. I know how he is doing "relatively speaking." You will know soon. Press: Idiot Biden thinking Trump will change date of election? Trump: Never thought of that. Calling Biden, Sleepy Joe. -

Press: Asking about the GPD for Q2. Trump: Q3, Q4 should be great (I think he said spectacular in the 4th quarter) and next year will be incredible. I built the greatest economy with the help of 325M people, and ... monologued about the economy before the COVID-19. We are ready to move forward, and will never forget... and then he smacks China again without saying China. GDP lack of growth in Q2. Praising companies that stepped up to the plate. He thinks it will be a tremendous comeback. Methinks China is not going to get off easily on this. ?♂️ -

Pence: Proud of the public and private partnership that you heard of today. 2 months ago, we did 10K tests, now 5.4 M tests have been done. More than 200K tests in a single day now. Governors are enthusiastic the way testing is scaling up and expanded. Three phased approach we believe that we have a sufficient amount of testing for all states that qualify, to open today. Admiral Giroir: The number of tests that need to be done depends on state levels. Let's assume Dr Fauci was stating for 4M a month, next month we will easily double that number. We have all the tests matched to the machines, over 20M swabs, and that does not include everything that was stated earlier in this presser. The states with the amount of testing will double SK numbers from the last 4 months combined. Press (Jon Karl): In March you said.... this that and the other thing. What went wrong? Pence: I appreciate your question, but it represents a misunderstanding on your part. (LOL) They had tests, but the old system could not match those high speed testing. There was no disconnect. There are millions of tests out there in the old style (slower). The President brought about 5.4M tests, and scaling up faster (could be doing 2M a week by next week). Press: You were talking about tests being sent out? Pence: Yes, on my first week... Those tests were designed to be run on the old model. I'm gathering the new labs are faster. And Jon Karl is one again being disingenuous. Trump: We have the most testing, and best testing. -

Press: Germany is looking to charging China (billions of euro) Trump: We are looking at more money, and we will let you know. Press: DOJ Barr, constitutional rights. Trump: Ask Barr. He wants to make sure people have their rights. Press: Suing states? Trump: Depends on states. Frankly, the AG does not want people to lose their rights. The fact that people do not have their freedom causes problems. Press: Disinfectant question? Trump: Can't imagine that. Press: Dr Fauci says we need to double testing. Trump: We will have more than double testing soon. -

Press (Breitbart): Americans blame China. China is taking advantage of supply chains. How do we hold them accountable? Trump: We have a lot of ways to hold them accountable. We are investigating. We will let you know at the appropriate time. Press: Supply chains? Trump: We have discussed that. Helping farmers as they were unfairly targeted. Press: New restrictions? Trump: We are relying on the Governors. Manhattan is different than Montana. The entire country has been infected. Pointed out WV was about the last ones to be hit. They had a solid call with the Governors today. Testing is growing. -

Press: Opening states? Best advice Trump: Quickly, but safely Trump mentioned school system, he's hoping they can open, even if for a short time. Young people do well. Word is safety Press: Asking about Alex Azar, for the individual American (something he said in January). Why is he still the HHS secretary? Trump: Unfair question, many health professionals and members of the other party didn't get that right. I was fortunate that we closed to China, except for American citizens - you cannot keep out American citizens. Press: You RTed someone that said Ds under-reported coronavirus (I could not hear the whole question, windy out there) Trump: We are doing accurate reporting, I cannot tell you about other countries. Press: PPP program, glitch in system? Trump: We will find out about that, relying on banks. -

Dr Birx: Explaining the process, and progress The blueprint that lays out the rules and responsibilities between public and private. Trump: Alluding to China not informing people about the virus. Governors call - repeating about the US lab memo where testing skyrocketing. Rapidly expanding capacity. We are confident we have enough testing capacity to reopen. Releasing additional testing capacity information to the states. (Contact tracing, hot spot awareness, and more) Medicare has been made easier for Seniors to get testing. Pharmacies doing testing is a big deal. Asking Governors to get medicaid (I think) resources involved for testing. -
