  1. It just invites corruption. Get in, make a few changes that helps yourself, then dip out. Term limits sounds good on paper, but it wouldn’t play out well once everyone adjusts to it.
  2. I think term limits actually make the situation worse. Then you end up with opportunists trying to enrich themselves on day 1, since they know they can only serve for a certain amount of time and don’t care what happens. We have to move to a public financing system so officials don’t have to spend 95 percent of their time fundraising for their reelection and can actually serve the people in their districts. I would propose expanding House terms to 4 years and abolishing the Senate altogether.
  3. No. It isn’t. We’ve been trying to help the GOP along over the years but I think it’s too late now. The party will collapse and will need a new name. Total rebrand. We’ve been sitting here waiting for that to happen for years now.
  4. It’s just the truth. It’s like a stubborn NFL coach that thinks he can win with a great defense and no offense in a game that’s completely changed and favors the offense.
  5. White grievance/victimhood, which you see plastered all over this board, is the direct result of changing demographics in the country, along with a dying ideology. Your refusal to accept that is why this is happening. Either you don’t realize it, or you don’t want to realize it. It definitely isn’t a “both sides” problem. Claiming that it is only confirms your refusal to admit there’s a problem within the ranks. Unfortunately, it can’t be fixed now so we’re looking at one party rule moving forward. It needed to be fixed in 2012.
  6. We have to start somewhere. The entire political system is broken. That’s how you end up with a Matt Gaetz.
  7. I can tell you this…..every R/D political consultant knew this was going to happen way back in 2002. We were all looking at the same data. Members of the Lincoln Project all knew what we knew at the time. We saw a party that was shrinking and were already seeing the effects that changing demographics were having on white people. What we couldn’t anticipate was the effect of social media and the fake news bubble that exists today. When Trump came down that escalator, the GOP was officially dead as a party. That was doing the opposite of what they had to do to survive as a party.
  8. Trump stole Pat Buchanan’s campaign word for word. It always existed in the GOP but it remained on the fringe where it belonged. Ross Perot supporters. Tea party. It’s the same group of people. Nothing can really change until digital laws are put in place, public financing for elections is put in place, an updated version of the Fairness Doctrine is put in place, and the GOP does a complete rebuild. That all has to happen in the next 10 years.
  9. I’ve always believed that building high-speed rail throughout the country would do a lot to address the polarization in this country.
  10. All of your questions will be answered by the bi-partisan commission over the next year.
  11. Incorrect. Before and after the storming of the Capitol, NBC News reported, police seized a dozen firearms, including an assault rifle, and thousands of rounds of ammunition from seven people attending the rally for President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. Other weapons included a crossbow, a stun gun and 11 Molotov cocktails.
  12. It was 12 or more, not counting the bombs and other stuff.
  13. What day in August does Donald come back? How does that work? He can’t actually do that job. Not in his skill set at all. There aren’t many jobs he can do.
  14. This is a travesty! I certainly won’t be voting for Hunter Biden again and I demand his resignation from his official WH post.
  15. Yeah. They could end up taking the House by a seat or two but I’m not nearly as doom and gloom as most progressives are right now. I don’t see these midterms following the normal trends with all that’s happened. The GOP being unable to turn the page on Trump is obviously helping us. Killing their own voters obviously helps too.
  16. That’s pretty crazy dude. We should be in good shape for these midterms.
  17. We’re (Peggy) talking about social issues.
  18. It has more to do with Republicans being on the wrong side of history on every single issue over the last 20 years. 10 years ago I started to believe they were just doing it on purpose. No one can be wrong about that many things. Can you think of a Republican stance on an issue that ended up being where the majority of people came around on and agreed with a few years later? There isn’t one.
  19. Who am I fighting? Are they vaccinated? Why does Mo spell his name wrong? He stupid? I don’t approve of someone named Mo leading us to battle. I will stick to the 7 point plan to “reinstate” Trump as President. Let’s do this by the books this time. We can achieve this goal in days.
  20. Data now shows that around 28 percent of Oklahomans who test positive for COVID-19 end up in the hospital. The highly contagious Delta variant is the reason for the increase in COVID-19 cases and the severity of those cases, officials said. “We currently have as many COVID patients in the hospital as we did at the height of the pandemic. https://kfor.com/news/coronavirus/covid-19-once-again-rising-in-oklahoma-doctors-urge-oklahomans-to-get-vaccinated-as-delta-variant-spreads-rapidly/
  21. You don’t mind taking 5 booster shots over the next 2 years because Florida (if you live there) and a few other red states can’t seem to get their act together? Some have said that 85 percent of American citizens will get immunity either from the vaccine or the virus itself, but there’s no telling how long it would take to get to that point. That could be more than a year away. That’s a lot of “gene therapy.” You might turn into the Incredible Hulk!
  22. We have the same restrictions right now (not really) because no one is dying, unlike Florida, who should be putting new restrictions in place due to a huge spike in recent deaths, because we shouldn’t be cheering on more deaths, even if they deserve it and smell funny. 3/4 of the people here are still wearing masks indoors. 1/3 of the population stills wears masks OUTSIDE. People are masked up walking around in state parks. Today. We’re doing that because we don’t want Covid and we don’t want to give others Covid, so our numbers don’t start to look like Florida. We didn’t get vaccinated and then say screw everyone else, although I wish I could be that horrible sometimes. I don’t want to get Covid, then give it to a friend, who then gives it to his unvaccinated children, who then give it to their grandparents, and they die, like I’ve been reading about recently.
