I never thought it was broken to begin with. I’m old school. If your team gives up a TD in OT, Your team should lose the game. All this both teams need a chance is elementary. Defense is part of the game

Defense is part of the game, but most of the rules have been changed to heavily favor offense. That just has to be a consideration with todays game. It’s just not old school anymore.

Almost like there has maybe been some inflation the last 4 years since the pandemic?

Hahahaha. There certainly has , and the NFL was affected by it but not in that way. The NFL cap is tied to revenue. It seemingly always goes up for the NFL - the one exception was the pandemic year with no fans. That was the only time revenue ( and thusly the cap) has gone down in probably decades. NFL revenues just keep climbing year after year .

Sounds like they know him extremely well and liked what they’ve seen over the years

Way too reasonable of a take there pal. We should have hired Andy Reid for the position.

With how big of a dumpster fire the Sabers have been it will take a massive level of melt.

Maybe, though they have made quite a few changes in the Coach dept. of course, it’s Hockey so a completely different thing. We don’t know what Pegulas tolerance level is because the expectations are probably different. Bills have a superstar QB., the Sabres have no such player.

  5. Wow , great post . Incredible that Veach was on the Bills short list of GMs when they were hiring years back. Also incredible that the Bills could have drafted Mahomes instead of trading the pick. How different things could have been. Yeah there’s no reason to think it won’t continue so it’s best just to become a Chiefs fan and sit back in amazement at their accomplishments. Bills fans will just have to wait until they draft their next QB after Allen and Mahomes are retired. Then maybe they’ll have a chance at a SuperBowl. It’s just bad timing and you’ll be best off following the Chiefs for the next 10 years or so.

Superbowl 27, 1992 in Pasadena.  Bills got blown out by the Cowboys.  We were up 10 - 0 and then Kelly was knocked out of the game.  Dallas was heavily favored.  Michael Jackson was the half time entertainment.  He put on a good show.  My brother and I paid $500 each for a seat which we thought was a lot of money at the time.

Seemed to be about the going rate : a friend from work went and he paid $500 outside before game. Bought from Dallas fans lol. Fwiw, $500 at the time is worth around $1,060 in todays dollars. $500 sure would have seemed like a lot at the time, but that $1,060 couldn’t get close to even a nosebleed ticket for a Super Bowl today.

I agree in general, but regarding the fake punt, didn't the Chiefs fumble through the end zone on the ensuing possession?

Yep. It was a silly call by McD to be sure, but led to only a little time off the clock and the Bills ultimately getting the ball at the 20. Not really a factor in the game, as there was plenty of time left for the Bills offense at the end. They just failed to execute drives/ score a couple times in the game and that was the difference.

More regular season success than virtually every team EXCEPT Kansas City... And they are the ones that keep knocking the Bills out of the playoffs.

It's as simple as that. We are in the middle of a Chiefs dynasty and the Bills are really good, but not quite as good as them.

But they are close. The games are always close. They've shown they can hang with them. So, keep trying and one of these years they will.

    Bingo.

Disagree. A this point we all want to get back to conference title game. I mean you can’t make a Super Bowl if you can’t even get to the contrite game. Having the one seed gives a team a huge advantage in that.

The Bills have been consistently great for four straight seasons now. But they don’t have a single 1 seed to show for it and the Chiefs only had the 1 seed in two out of those four seasons.

As long as the Bills continue to finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference they will continue to face the 2nd or 3rd best team in the divisional round rather than getting say a Jags or Texans team. I certainly like our chances against the Jags or Texans compared to the Bengals and Chiefs.

Have to beat who’s in front of you. Eventually you’ll have to play the Chiefs anyway, even if you’re the 1 seed Ravens. There’s no magic ticket, and the 1 seed is practically unattainable in the AFC with the Chiefs in the AFC West. They’ve got an easy path every year. Hated the rule change with only 1 bye like everyone else, but good luck hoping for a 1 seed AND a Super Bowl berth. It could happen, but probably would take a major injury on the KC side for it to happen.

It’s simple math honestly. You play one less game to get into the tournament. Definitely a better situation than what we’ve been in plus they would be home

Sure, but guess what ? It’s not changing back. The fact is only one team gets the bye. That’s a tough ask, and it obviously doesn’t mean the 1 seed will make the Super Bowl every year. Yes, this is the first year KC has reached the bowl without it - it’s also the only year they didn’t have it. The Bengals got there without it. They had a great chance to do it again with a late drive last season. The Ravens had it twice and lost both times. The # 1 seed would be a nice benefit , but it’s not a necessity. A perfect regular season simply isn’t required to reach the already difficult goal of a Super Bowl.

I think the Bills are missing key difference makers . Can u honestly say we have a Jones or Kelce or Chase & Hendrickson? Yes we have the QB but are missing the other components. That's what's making the difference in the playoffs other then Mcd blowing games.

This take is closest to the truth. The playoff games are usually close, and a few plays here and there are often the difference. The Bills have a pretty solid D and run a good system. They don’t have a lot of stars that make game changing plays vs top competition. They can’t afford to have their best players sidelined with injuries and haven’t been lucky in this regard. They need some better players on defense and probably another top WR.

Didn’t see much of last years game but I’d say it’s been many years. Probably close to a decade.

Definitely some good ones then. Longer ago than I thought, but you’re probably right.

  12. Lots of worrying about the 1 seed. It didn’t help the Ravens much. The Bills got KC in Orchard Park for the playoffs and still lost. San Francisco made it as the 1 seed, but they were on the ropes  at 24-7 vs the Lions. The Bills don’t need to have a perfect regular season to make the Super Bowl. They don’t need some magic formula. They just need a bit of good luck with injuries and to be better than their opponents on the day they play them in the postseason. They haven’t done it thus far, and that’s about it.

If he was 30 and coming off his 2nd acl I'd say maybe but at 35 he's absolutely done. He'll be kept by McDermott.  He'll have 4-5 sacks and look like Epenesa.  And after year 3 we'll regret every penny we spent on him.  Burn that down Von....

Might be absolutely correct on Von’s performance. However, the Bills and McDermott  have no choice but to keep Miller unless he’s suspended by the NFL. He’s not a cut candidate until after the ‘24 season.
