The Steelers must be on equal footing with the Bills in the decision making, correct? This is a very curious topic for me, I’d love to learn more about it. I’m always thinking the worst when politicians get involved. Goodell is a politician, among other things.

I don’t think so, as the Steelers are the low seed and not hosting.

Why the hell did the #2 seed get put in a position to have 1 day less rest from the start anyway?

The Bills playoff position wasn’t determined until the leagues final regular season game ended. The potential matchups / times were shown at halftime. Iirc , the Chiefs were playing on Saturday regardless (I believe NBC wanted Mahomes for their Peacock exclusive game ) and there was a scenario where the Bills were involved in that game. The Bills as the 2 seed were going to play Sunday after a Sunday nite game the previous week. That sounds about right. It was one more day rest vs the 3 seed with a Saturday game.

Probably just trying to make the Bills another experiment again and see how it works out.  I heard least year that they want the Championship games to be played on neutral fields.

You heard correctly, but that was related to the Damar Hamlin situation rather than some “ experiment “. More just a “ fair” solution to Buffalo if both the Chiefs and Bills qualified for the AFC title game. The Bills ( and Bengals) played one less game than KC, and the Bills had a head to head win over the Chiefs so this would only have taken place if that matchup materialized. As we all know, Buffalo was eliminated in the divisional round. At the time, the NFL did say that neutral site Championship games were probably happening down the road.

I think the NFL is big time upset that Kathy Hochul  played their hand by issuing the state of emergency and travel ban. The NFL wanted a playoff game to be played in a blizzard so badly.  The ratings would have been through the roof.

It appears the NFL actually wanted to move the game to Atlanta vs playing in a blizzard.

  5. A lot of stuff went uncalled in this game: I generally prefer that to the alternative. On the play in question , I believe Josh thought Ty would be able to break the plane. I don’t recall a receiver actually in the EZ, so I guess a throwaway and 3 point try was the better choice.

I think if Josh leads him by about 2 more feet he scores. I have no problem with the decision to throw it. And as stated it was a clear helmet to helmet and ball at 6 inch line. Josh scores on the next play about 90% likely.

I don’t think there was gonna be a next play as the time expired.

Simple logic says that Reid+Mahomes+Kelce and playoff experience is the tougher out than Tua+McD+Co.  The Bills own the fish so give me them vs KC. That said I would love KC to come to Buffalo for once and lose.

Sure, but if Bills and Dolphins both win, Dolphins go to BAL. The chances of the Bills seeing MIA in these playoffs are slim. I agree that KC in our building would be a nice change.

can you help explain to me how you know this or what the general rule is. I never knew division winners had home field priority in the next season

The schedule ( place finishers within divisions - not exact teams ) is a rotation that is predetermined for many years out. Example : AFCE 1st place finisher hosts AFCW 1st and 3rd place ) You can find it online.

Of the 6 other possible AFC playoff teams the Bills could face, Pittsburgh is the one you pick.

These worry-warts need something to worry about and that's fine with me.  Any team can beat any team, but I'll take Pittsburgh over

    any of the other teams.

Exactly. There will be tons of hand wringing here over the opponent regardless of who it is. It’s like they expect you get to play Arizona or something in the playoffs. Not how it works , so beat whoever is in front of you !

I am curious how this turns out. In the regular season or during the drought years, for sure. Maybe more than 25%.

But in 2024 for a playoff game, perhaps less?

I think it’s about right. They have fans everywhere and they travel well. Won’t be like Bills @MIA but they’ll have a sizable contingent .

Pretty sure Allen threw 4 TDs in the first half that game.

The weather is really unfortunate. I don't think we will have trouble with the Steelers either way, but with no Watt Allen likely would have been able to have another big day passing the ball. Would have been nice to keep the momentum going after putting up 350 yards yesterday, especially considering how bad the passing game has been prior to Miami.

Still a bit far out to be sure of weather in that 3 hour block on Sunday. We’ll know with more certainty on Thursday or Friday.

I can't quite remember, but wasn't that the first play inside the 2-minute warning?  Coaches can't challenge after that.  I agree it was a horrible spot, and I think it's exactly what the league wanted:  to create drama in the last two minutes.

I believe it was inside the final 2:00. Spot challenges are notoriously difficult to win, and Josh failed to extend the ball at the end of the run. It wasn’t really in doubt , as much as us Bills fans would have liked a more favorable spot.

Also, for all the Lawrence bashing, let's not forget the sure TD drop at the end of the game.  I still haven't been able to unclench.

Wasn’t a great throw , he coulda caught it but might have went to the ground after. If Lawrence puts that a little more inside though…

Since this is an 8:15 game, I was wondering, what do the players do all day before the game?

I know they still have a set schedule , including meetings, team meal etc. Just an adjusted timeline to account for the kickoff time.

Yeah there should be no excuses. Will see how team handles being the favorites and if they play down to their competition. Put up points early and often then hopefully you have a chance to start pulling some people from the game. Season will be huge disappointment if team is unable to secure this win. Thinking game will be closer than it should be.

Just get the win and secure a playoff spot.  Most NFL games are close, especially divisional contests.

Never happening. You might get 3 votes from owners if you are lucky.

They could simply have the team with the better record hosting the game and leave the divisions the way they are.

Yep , comes down to the owners. There would be little to no support for the idea so yeah, not happening.

Why is everyone that concerned with Houston?

coming to Buffalo in January, as a rookie QB cannot be easy.

I mean, I get it. HOU seems to have more road upset potential vs Bills than a Minshew led Colts squad. More to your point though, McD does have good track record vs rook QBs. His strengths tend to get overlooked on this board at times. Lots of hand wringing here about Bills opponents as well. Doesn’t matter at this point as the Colts have been eliminated and the Bills still have business to take care of. Cheers and Go Bills! 🍻
