Allen neutered himself in the opener by throwing 3 picks and fumbling. That's not the coaches fault.  He plays like he's capable in that one and we've in first place  in the AFC East.

I know conventional TBD wisdom is it's all the coaches fault. A fair share of it is for sure.  But Allen deserves a share too for his screw ups. He got the fat contract, he needs to produce like he deserves it.

Yep, that particular game was 90% on him , and he admitted as much.

"Josh is definitely not the main reason for the offensive woes.  That said, I do think he is a tad slower compared to past years."

Totally agree, just something I noticed.

    He’s like 27 not 37 .

You make some valid points, but stop banging your head against a brick wall.  Terry is not firing McD this year, next year or any other year in the near future.

It’s certainly possible in the somewhat near future if things don’t turn around quickly. Coaches do get fired in the NFL - pretty frequently in reality. I agree I think it would take a real downturn for T Pegs to make that move. We don’t know his tolerance level, but I think it would take a lot more than a mediocre season and missing the playoffs. To me, that would get the typical changes like sacrificing a coordinator. Sean’s seat may get warm then , but that’s it. You’d likely need multiple seasons of poor results.

McDermott is done here..whether you want to believe it or not...he has systematically ruined this team and is in way over his head....stay loyal to McDermott at the expense of allen

This is a great point - I wonder what Allen really thinks of the offensive struggles, the heavy focus on defensive players, and McDermott overall. In the end, Josh is the franchise - not McD.

I’m skeptical if Tre will be able to come back from the Achilles injury, although this regime seems to be about as loyal as they can be to guys who work hard and are seen as leaders within the team.  I’ll be surprised if this regime releases him, before giving him that shot at a return.  But, I don’t think it’d be unreasonable for them to use the potential release as a bargaining chip to work out a more reasonable deal for both sides.

Possibly, but they do have cap issues. It will be interesting. Just some really bad luck for Tre these past few seasons.

It's funny everyone killed Daboll for how he used Josh.  All the called QB runs and stuff, can't risk the franchise!  I think we all see now that without that dimension Josh is pretty ordinary, or at the very least- wildly inconsistent.

So if you strip away the things that make Allen a unique athlete, he looks more ordinary ? Great analysis. Amazingly , the entire offense -and its components -look more ordinary too once you remove elements that made it difficult to defend. I think you may be on to something here !

Before they just cut Tre outright, I think they discuss a restructuring to a level that would be more in line with his new market coming off injury,

With Knox, I think they consider his value in more than just being a pass catching TE, but his blocking ability too.

As for Von, depends his level of play by end of the season.  But they’re kind of screwed there no matter what.

I don’t see much point in restructuring TW. Is there much track record of CB’s returning to form post- Achilles injury? I think releasing him before his roster bonus is due is basically a slam dunk.

They show this stat every game and fail to mention he also has the most TDs of any player in the league in that time. He has also been our most productive running back in that span so he'll have more fumbles on his stat sheet than most QBs just on sheer volume.

This year, he has one more interception than Hurts and Mahomes and more TDs than either of them.

They mentioned the TD’s . QB’s often have the most fumbles as they touch the ball on every play. You’re correct though. Some see that number and immediately think it means this season too. It doesn’t. He had a lot of fumbles his first few years when he ran constantly.

This is pretty accurate. I'm actually relieved when a replay shows an INT was at least thrown close to a receiver, as there are many times where he just lobs something up when he's trying to avoid a sack, and nobody is in the area.

Either that, or he throws some inexplicable limp-armed floater right to a group of defenders with nobody else around (Bears game last year?), but unfortunately I don't think that will ever change at this point.

I doubt it will change, but it’s also not the reason for the current offensive struggles. I think he’s always been aware of this reputation , but it’s pretty much been an interesting factoid amongst a lot of scoring - and winning.

Just listening to McDermott and Dorseys press conferences from today, we're done. Lots of "I have confidence in so and so" blah blah. Buckle up people. This team is gonna suck the rest of the way. Dorsey sounds like he has no plans of changing anything

Well, if he does have such plans he’s certainly not talking about them at a press conference.

What's the point of getting a wild card if we are just going to lose in the first round because we can no longer beat good teams. This isn't 2015 where we would be happy to be there. If we do sneak in the playoffs the chance of us making any noise would be minimal

So they should try to lose then ? Not try to fix their issues and get back to playing good football ? Not sure what the point of that would be.

It was an amazing play by Pratt imo.  Sure, he could’ve been holding it tighter, but the accuracy and timing of that punch was on point.

It was a very good defensive play. Once airborne , Kincaid was vulnerable to having the ball knocked out. He tried to do too much and got burned.

  12. This season isn’t about what the Dolphins do, or anyone else for that matter. The Bills are just not very good right now. The defense ( while beat up) isn’t reliable at all. The offense is stuck in 1st gear for about 3 quarters per game. The Bills aren’t going anywhere right now, even if other teams lose games or fade down the stretch.

Look at the 4 losses through a microscope.

Jets loss Josh basically played his worst game

Jaguars loss they didn’t wake up till late in the second quarter

Patriots Bills come all the way back to take the lead only to have Mac Jones go 85 yards on Mcdermott

Bengals the team was stuck on 10 points till the 4th quarter.

Most of the problems this year is on the offense with the Pats game thrown in.

Yep. The coaches have effectively neutered Allen for long stretches of these games. It’s not a successful strategy.
