Bills had picks 56 and 62. They could have used #62 rather than a third and received back a later or future pick.
HOU was a team on the rise in the AFC and the Bills traded with them. I see that being no different that PIT and BUF.
I just think it is more likely the Bills chose not to trade for Pickens. Not that PIT would not trade with BUF or we did not have the pieces to make a trade.
Maybe … Diggs may have also had a say in his destination due to contract language. Pretty sure he lives in Texas or did at the time of trade.

Well they actually traded him to HOU - a team that they have played multiple times in the playoffs. How is that different than PIT trading with BUF? Its the exact same thing.
They played the Texans once in the playoffs in 2019. The Bills third round pick was also at the bottom of the round. Good enough to beat out the Chiefs , Eagles, if they offered a 3rd but not anyone else. Would need a 2nd rounder then. Any thought of a Pickens trade to the Bills for a 3rd is pure fantasy

Exactly. That is like the Bills trading with KC, we all know teams don't do stupid things like this.
Draft pick trade. Not saying I agree with the strategy but it’s certainly not unheard of. Teams very rarely trade a player to a conference rival. Bledsoe, Flacco are among rare examples. Do you think the Bills would have traded say, Diggs to the Chiefs ?

Thank God they used that 3rd round pick on him instead of, I don’t know, trading it to Pittsburgh for George Pickens.
This was never going to happen. Why would they trade Pickens to the AFC Bills? The Bills also had pick 31 in the round.

True, but what many are suggesting is that we play the same boring, contain the QB defense, that we've played repeatedly with poor results. The difference between KC and Buffalo is an ability to adapt and change. Buffalo has a real problem with this.
I'm thinking that all of these recent additions to our defense is going to be a serious problem for KC. Our defense has been transformed and the coach needs to cut them loose. KC won't know what hit them.
Wouldn't exactly call it a heater. More like, ok, they're not dead yet...lol.
I disagree. The difference between KC and the Bills today ( besides the coaching staff) is just better players. In the recent past that wasn’t the case, but a few seasons of sub par draft results and players aging out has gotten them to this point. The Bills have Allen and Cook plus a good OL. Not much else. The defense is probably the worst version of itself since Allen became a top QB. Allen himself hasn’t been playing well.

Ways the Bills can win this game:
- Hairston is ready to play and has a good game.
- Defensive Ends put pressure on Mahomes and contain him. Do not let him get out of the pocket, I don't care if we get zero sacks. The pocket needs to collapse into him.
- Running game is working for us.
- No big errors (e.g. turnover in our own redzone, big PR/KR allowed, etc).
That's it, I think we win if we can do those things.Probably need these things to happen for the Bills to get a win here. Let’s also not forget their latest issue - penalties. Any infractions will be magnified vs KC as the Chiefs will not have any penalties of consequence called against them.

It was a washed up Andy Dalton today folks, lets see who's calling D next week against Mahomes
Some on this board were actually afraid of that guy!

I don't think KC goes all out during the regular season vs the Bills.
I’m sure the Chiefs don’t hold back for one of their biggest games of the year. I think it’s just a classic case of the better coaching staff winning the rematch.
-
Sure. I am afraid of any team that can pass the football well. The Bills can’t stop it consistently, and they don’t have a serious passing game of their own.

After we win today, what are the odds the negativity on the board slightly decreases?
Odds are against it. A win will just be one that was expected before the season started. Anything less than a complete Bills blowout victory and it will be doom and gloom heading home to face the Chiefs.

That’s how they survived last year. Not a sustainable approach.
Punching at footballs is a fine approach to a turnover seeking defense ( along with sound tackling of course). What isn’t sustainable with turnovers is the fair amount of luck involved recovering them. The ball takes funny bounces, and even when doing the correct thing -(ie falling on the ball vs trying to pick it up) it still goes the other way sometimes. This has happened many times already this year. INTs have been dropped. The opportunities have been there, and they usually are. The luck just dries up at times.

Who would have thought it feels like a longshot to beat the Panthers and Ravens are one loss from possibly missing the playoffs and Lamar out again. As bad as I feel Allen has looked it seems Lamar has quit on his team.
Thats the NFL for you.. never can predict exactly how things will play out. Each season is really its own story, and predictions based on last year are far from guaranteed. Allen repeating as league MVP doesn’t look promising, and the Bills offense as expected has regressed. As expected the main issue is likely the defense. Their performance is likely key to a turnaround or a downfall in 2025.

Taylor Rapp is in IR
Tre White, Benford and Johnson are having below average season
Hairston is yet to take an NFL snap including pre-season
Hancock is a rookie that has seen very little snaps
Jordan was washed up in Miami last year
Bernard and Milano are not 100%. Dorian Williams sucks
DaQuan Jones is being considered for IR.
Our front four may be very good with Ogunjobi and Hoecht coming in....But the back five are in TATTERS !!!
They’re shattered! Shadooby….

The rub is a disagreement on what "winning" is. Lets say Reid retires after this season. The expectation for the next coach will be that winning means winning super bowls, as long as Mahomes is QB. Many Bills fans, who don't post on fan forums think the bar for "winning" with Josh Allen on the team is at least an appearance in the Super Bowl. If you look at the chart of the top 10, all but one of those combos won more than they lost. None are really remembered as an era of great success.
Sure, and the Hunt family will probably have a different definition than the Pegulas. I don’t disagree at all. Maybe the Pegulas definition is winning championships, but they feel staying the course is best. I’m not sure. That’s how it appears. Their opinion or definition along with maybe a few other key advisors is the only one that matters. I can see the argument for both, but I’m starting to think a major overhaul is necessary as the current model is looking shaky and hasn’t managed to stop Reid and Mahomes when it mattered most.

Joe Marino is extremely intelligent on the sport and really does his homework when it comes to watching film. He's also got a pretty level head when it comes to overreacting to what is happening each week.
It's pretty disturbing after getting the full bye week to digest everything, he needed a NINE point list of areas we need to fix just to get back on track. We aren't talking about a slight adjustment or quick fix. We just need to completely shift our strategy on offense and defense, bench a handful of starters and make some trades. Yikes.
Usually the All-22 film guys start digging in after a loss, and can find a few areas the Bills need to tweak. I've noticed those guys are uncharacteristically down, depressed and frustrated this time around. I think everyone is starting to realize we are screwed.
It seems that longtime players may have finally aged out, and several years of mediocre draft pick results are showing through.

Technically you are 100% correct. But from the perspective a fan forum, there are plenty of guys, who will still tell you you need to trust the process and be patient. And historically, ownerships do tend to be responsive to their customers.
Most Bills fans probably don’t frequent a fan form. While it is obviously possible to make a big change during a period of team success, I’d venture these instances weren’t driven by a lack of fan support. They were likely driven by a GM, an impatient owner ( or both ). Perhaps a franchise QB had influence as well. Fans usually support their teams when they’re winning. I’m not lobbying for McDermott here - or against him. I just don’t think fans have much to do with these decisions. Winning is the name of the game.

Until you look at our cap space. 😞
It’s not a hard cap in the NFL though. There are ways to free up space. The bill eventually comes due, but Allen’s not getting younger.

Strange title. Pretty sure the fan base doesn’t hire/ fire coaches. Most patient ownership maybe, if it’s quantified by firing coaches.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to worry about WR depth every season. If only there were some type of draft for us to stock up on young cost controlled pass catchers
It definitely would. Beanes draft approach seems strange when WR contracts have increased massively in recent years. It’s an odd place to try to fill holes with FA’s.

It’s sad our season is hanging on a receiver that the chargers didn’t re sign
It’s on a lot more than just a WR. Besides, isn’t every player you sign as a FA one that another team didn’t re sign ?
