    The 1980 team.

A bit before my time but they beat a tough Jets team in the road in the first round.  Then I know someone dropped an INT that woulda beaten the Chargers in the next round.

That Bills team that year beat the Raiders in the regular season that went on to win the Super Bowl

Great D that year, barring that deep pass TD from Fouts to a no- name WR. Thought they were going to the SB for sure.

Oops wrong year! This was year before vs CIN I believe, but yeah great D.

Joe Burrow is so cute, pretending that Mike Brown has the cash to convert salary to signing bonuses. But really, it takes upfront cash and there is a price to pay cap-wise down the line when the run is over.

Yep. Bengals are notoriously a cheap franchise. Sorry Joe, but huge void years not in the cards for Cincy.

So realistically, if the Bills are -$11M in cap space now, how much space can they open?

And then after that - what is their approach - just try and bring back the 2024 Bills? Extend Cook, Benford, Rousseau, Shakir, Bernard.

    Re-sign Hollins, Gilliam, Hamlin, Morris

Because the trade route for a DE. Garrett has cap hits of $19M and $20M, Crosby has cap hits of $27M and $24M.

So you extend either guy, how are you getting those cap hits down low enough and still paying all those internal FAs and extensions.

I guess this is where this offseason is hard to gauge for me - fans want the playmaking DE, but Beane talks about how they’re close and they just need to kick the door down.

True, but Beane has also said he wants sustained success, not going all out to win it one year. Hard to say which way he goes in this situation. We’ll see where the rubber hits the road.

It's sounds to me that Bills fans are still complaining as if Josh didn't win. We're all impressed how humble Josh has been and yet nit picking everyone who didn't vote for him.

It sounds more like those who voted for Jackson are appalled that many of their peers did not agree with them. Their ensuing histrionics have gotten a response from Bills fans.

What the crap is happening on this board?

Outside of the first drive, Allen was great! He was 68% passing, had ~270 yards, 2 TD’s and 0 turnovers.

His two TD passes were absolute dimes.

The only thousand yard stare he had was at the very end of the game when the Chiefs ran out the clock.

If you need someone to blame, look no further than Joe Brady. His tendencies were so obvious that the Chiefs knew what plays we were running before we ran them.

    Spot on, Sir.

That's the beauty of the 1 seed, that's what you earn for being the best team in the conference.

There’s no beauty to it anymore. It distorts historical NFL achievement by giving an advantage that no teams ever had in the past. Sacrificing the reward of the 2 seed; all for greed of adding to a week of barely mediocre playoff games.

They are so much better across the board yet every game comes down to one or two plays and the Bills/Allen are 4-5 vs Chiefs/Mahomes.   The problem is simply playoffs vs regular season. I agree they have the better staff and scheme.

They do have that , but I’m not even sure it’s regular season vs playoffs at this point. The games are very similar. It may be more of 1st matchup vs rematch than when the games are played. Their staff is better, and they’re mostly better at countering what the Bills did well. This shows up in the second game. The Bills - and Joe Brady/ Josh Allen needed to be better on about four or five plays. They simply weren’t. It’s no great mystery , doesn’t require a new team etc.

I was listening to Mad Dog Russo the other day on Sirius. He was breaking down and  comparing the Bills and KC position groups, head coach, QB, Kicker, etc. He really couldn’t come up with where the Bills have a decided advantage other than maybe Oline.  So he picked Buffalo and said the main reason is they are due to have something good happen at the end in their 4th game of this playoff series… and KC is due to have something bad happen at the end. That’s it. That was his final reasoning which we all hope for.

I can see that, but I’d bet that when the Bills secure the win it’s directly because of Josh Allen.

This game needs to be a James Cook - Josh Allen run special. The Chiefs have been terrible against the run since the Bills beat them in Week 11. Getting something like 200 yards plus and controlling the clock would lead to the best chance of winning in my opinion. Can the Bills O-Line dominate the Chiefs like they did in the first game?

Mix in some Ty Johnson too, and a few carries for Davis. Sometimes Johnson seems to get the tougher yards.

It's funny how alot of what I've seen from kc fans this week is that the whole "refs favor the Chiefs" thing is total garbage and not true. I mean, really? Look I know the bills have gotten some favorable calls this season a few times, but cmon...

Fwiw though, those were pretty much all home games. Not saying the Chiefs don’t get favorable calls, but a lot more procedure type penalties for visitors vs home.

That's right. What I recall is that Levy refused to play Henry in the Super Bowl that year when I think Smith was injured, opting to play a veteran bench player instead. Henry, who would turn out to be excellent when finally allowed to play the next year, sat on the bench while the secondary got torched. I would be surprised if he played in the AFCC the week before.

I think you’re right on the L. Smith injury, and I believe it occurred in that AFCC game vs Broncos. He may have missed the Super Bowl a couple weeks later. A staph infection maybe? Anyway, he used to go around the perimeter of the field whipping the crowd into a frenzy and I remember him doing that for the AFCCG. Don’t recall if Jones started the SB or not.

Bobby wouldn't have been fired with a disappointingly mediocre offense. He was fired because their offense was legitimately terrible.

Didn’t say it was mediocre. Look, you don’t usually  get fired when your season or performance meets or exceed expectations.

They got to the divisional round and lost to the defending champs.

This was about the Texans offense being downright bad. Not falling short of a conference championship.

The expectations of having a good offense. Not necessarily of failing to reach the title game.

Last year, he was a hot HC candidate. Now he's out of a job. Life comes at ya fast in the National Football League.

Yup. And a season that falls short of expectations usually means offering up a coordinator as sacrifice.

If you had told me in August that we'd get to this point of the season with only 1 starter out - I might have actually thrown a party in celebration.

This is as healthy as we've been. Somehow, once again, KC is even healthier - but I definitely can't complain.

KC has played one meaningful game since Christmas and the previous one wasn’t particularly tough. Is what it is - that’s a huge benefit of the top seed. Bills are in good shape though.

I certainly hope Bishop doesn't get picked on in this game. You know they will be going his way.

Of course he will be targeted - it’s the NFL.
