Tom Brady-The Greatest of His Era, Not All-Time
Iron Maiden replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with you....Brady >>> Manning...and it's not even close.....remember also, Brady was a missed xtra point away to bring the 2015 AFC Championship to OT in Denver...vs that incredible D............or how Manning crumbled in the SB vs Seattle, putting up 8 pts...then the very next year, Brady put up 28....Butler made the play of course, but being down 10 pts vs that D and coming back is telling ...I couldn't imagine Manning making that comeback....or vs Atlanta this year.... -

For me, the great difference maker is the famous.." If you have 1 minute left and need a TD, who do you want under center "....In this situation, I'd pick Brady everyday and twice on Sunday ( pun intended ). Montana, Marino, Elway, Manning are all incredible QBs ...but I've seen Brady too many time come up with the winning drive, under the brightest lights....the guy has ice in his veins...cluct as clutch can be..... My list would probably be Brady Marino Montana Elway Kelly ( yes, I'm a Homer ! ) -

I don't get the Manning love...he was absolutely great in the regular season...but man, when the pressure was on, he, more often than not , crumbled miserably.....9 times he had a 1 and done...9! We can't also ignore the fact the for most of his career, he played in a cozy dome.....that certainly helped the stats.... And finally, his 2nd SB was on the back of a great Denver defense.....he was one of the worst QB in the NFL that year..... -

Manning has way too many 1 and done in the playoffs....great regular season QB, but chocked too often in the post season....he's not in the GOAT discussion...it's Brady or Montana....plus Manning had better receivers than Brady did and played in a dome most of his career....if you saw snow coming down, you just knew Manning would have a bad game...Brady thrives in the elements.... -

But athletes take much better care of themselves now than they did years ago...these guys now have nutritionist etc...back in the 70's guys were probably smoking cigarettes and having beers in the locker room....today, they treat their bodies as their main investment...it's completely different... -
Malcolm Butler wants out of New England
Iron Maiden replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he stays, their secondary will be really good....if he leaves, we'll hear how BB is a genius because he took an UDFA , coached him up for 3 years, and turned him into a 1st round pick.... -

For those who think Brady can't take a hit, simply to go you tube...there's multiple examples....my favorite is the Nate hit in 2001.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKaE31VgXjU -

I already put Brady as the # 1 after the SB win against Seattle...Butler made the winning play, but Brady came back from 10 pts vs a great D that game....this year was just pilling on.... Knowing he's the GOAT also helps me cope with the fact that they beat us like we're the Washington Generals.....once he's gone, things can only improve.... -

Yeah...but the gas tank was almost empty.....that's a deal breaker right there... -

You've seen Brady play the last 16 years right.?....the guy can take a hit.....he whines a lot, but he can take a hit.... -

As painful as it is, I put Brady at #1...the guy has done all of this with not a lot of talent at the receiver position...had Moss for 2 years ( and broke records left and right ) and Gronk for a few seasons. Montana did go 4-0 in SB, but that simply means that he lost in the playoff before Brady...the 5-2 vs 4-0 debate is silly...5-2 is more impressive.... The rules have changed, but what Brady did in the salary cap era is just crazy....and I also think that athletes today are stronger, faster etc....it's not like Brady has never took a hit...the QBs are more protected for sure however... I've seen Joe play his entire career...and he was clutch......but with 1:00 left on the clock, needing a TD to win, I'll take Brady 10 times out of 10...never seen a player as clutch as he is....as a Bills fan, it's always demoralizing when they get the ball...I always assume they'll get a TD.... It's always a fun debate... -

You're going to skip watching the 2 games vs NE ? That seems a bit extreme.... -

True....hopefully, he's frustrated and not giving the famous 110% this coming year....but I assume BB is good at spotting the lack of effort.... I would venture to say no, but I'm not sure.... -

Butler is not going anywhere....I can't picture any team giving up a 1st round pick and paying him a top 10 CB salary....He'll play in NE at the $3.91 Million tender...his only leverage is to hold out, but I can't picture him passing on almost 4 million.... -
The coaching has sucked and I agree with the overall statement...However, I disagree with your talent level evaluation...unfortunately, IMO, we are smack down the middle of the conference.....I've been wrong many times, so hopefully, this is one of those time....I have a LOT of faith in our new coaching staff....It might take some time but I'm ready to give them a few seasons.....

We Loose On The Field And In The Offseason
Iron Maiden replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah....playing with deflated balls and making " all-22s " from a different angle is the reason they win.....I would give my left nut to have 1/2 of NE's success...granted, I'm a grand father now..... -
Patriots Complete Trade for Brandin Cooks

Actually, they did the back to back thing in 2003-2004.....The one thing they never did is a three peat.... -

NE always make trades at this time of the year...last season was Long, Bennett, Hogan etc....the year before was Chandler, Sheard etc....the only difference this year is that they have more $.....BB picked up Ealy and Cooks for 1 year...if he likes them, he'll pay them next off season...if he doesn't, he'll let them go and receive some comp picks as always....in my eyes, besides having more $, it's business as usual in Foxboro.....BB manages the system really well..... -

Yep.....they'll be dominating for another 2 years...the good news is, we have 2 full seasons to pull our **** together..... -
Bills might as well rebuild...
Iron Maiden replied to Beef Jerky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When is the last time a SB champ spent like this in the off season ?.....we are talking about NE here...the team with 2 of the last 3 SBs, the team with 14 division titles in 16 years.... what you say is true if you're taking about a team that was just OK before spending in free agency...it's not the case here... -
Patriots Complete Trade for Brandin Cooks
Iron Maiden replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not that surprised NE is doing all this....Contrary to what I've been reading, NE is always making trades at this time of the year.....Bennett, Hogan, Long etc ..last year....this year, they're only spending more $ because they have it..... They won the SB without Jones and Collins.....They have the $ to keep Butler and Hightower.....they replaced Ryan with Gilmore.......Allen replaced Bennett for a lot less money...plus, let's face it....if Gronk stays healthy, it doesn 't really matter who their 2nd TE is.....and if they lose Cooks after the season, they'll get a comp pick like they always do....same with Ealy....as far a Garapollo, they either get a bunch of picks for him or he stays in a system he's very familiar with...neither of those options are good news for us.... -
Bills might as well rebuild...

Except we didn't dominate for 17 years.... -
NE was going to win the division before any of these moves....why wanting to tank now versus 2 weeks ago ?
