I understand why Eichel wants the surgery he does. But I also understand why the Sabres are hesitant. This article describes the exact procedure he wants, the benefits + risks, looks at the athletes who’ve had it done. Very fair assessment of the situation. worth a read for Sabres fans. https://www.diebytheblade.com/platform/amp/2021/5/19/22443208/buffalo-sabres-jack-eichels-artificial-disc-conundrum?__twitter_impression=true

Well, the Sabres curse continues. Staal traded and will now play for the Cup. Hey, maybe we can use it as a selling point to free agents! ”Come sign in Buffalo. We’ll trade you to the eventual cup finalist at the trade deadline, guaranteed!” 😂

Cole Beasley is good with the football
BillsFan4 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think he’s actually going to opt out or retire. But If he does I could see Daboll filling the slot receiver role by committee (Sanders, McKenzie, Davis, etc.), or a sign/trade by Beane to fill that spot. Thankfully Buffalo does have great WR depth if Cole did decide to opt out/retire. -
Sorry, I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to talk about a hockey game in the hockey thread.

What a win by the Isles in OT! Especially after getting destroyed 8-0 last game. Amazing they forced a game 7. I really want them to pull off the series win.

The documentary is on Amazon Prime and Hulu. It’s pretty interesting. RIP -
No. Seth Jones is 1 year away from UFA and already told Columbus he’s testing free agency. Why would Buffalo think they could sign him? CBUS has been a much better team than Buffalo and he won’t sign there. and, without Jones, 5th overall just isn’t a good enough center piece for Eichel. I just don’t see what Columbus even has to be the center piece of an Eichel trade. The value would have to be made up from the 1at round draft picks they hold in this draft. #5, mid 20’s and Tampa’s pick (last?). I’d rather gamble on an unprotected CBUS 1st next year vs. taking back later round picks this year, in a weak draft. Im really hoping Adams is just using Columbus to drive up the price with other teams. They just don’t have the high end prospects other teams do. And no interest in either of their goalies unless it’s just a throw in. No. 2 firsts isn’t nearly enough. They need high end prospects back. No interest in gambling on picks in an Eichel trade. They need as close to sure things as possible. The only deals that even remotely interest me would be the Ducks for #3 + Zegras +. Or Chicago for Dach + 11 ++. Or LA for Byfield ++ They need the other teams top prospect, and that prospect has to be a top 5 in the NHL (IMO).

Highmark stadium cleared for full capacity
BillsFan4 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You’re welcome unvaccinated Bills fans. -all of us vaccinated WNYers. 😂 Very cool that there were ZERO new covid cases in Erie county yesterday. Amazing! Obviously if we have a wave of new cases come flu season/winter, this attendance policy is most likely going to change. But it’s nice to see how effective the vaccines have been, and that things can start getting back to normal. -
damn. Prayers for Robert. https://twitter.com/buffalovogl/status/1406009053613015044?s=21 🙏🙏

New NFL-NFLPA Covid protocols
BillsFan4 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don’t understand why Beasley is so shocked that he has to follow the same covid protocols as last season if he’s not vaccinated... -
It starts right around 6:50. But the tweet pretty much summed it up. edit: found this -

I just hope they get a proper return. For both. But I’m nervous this is going to suck for us Buffalo fans... I don’t really like this year’s draft class either. 2022 and 2023 both look much better, especially at the top. This isn’t the year I’d be stockpiling picks. Maybe I’d feel better about Buffalo collecting picks in what looks like a weak draft class if they had a better track record in the draft. But they’ve been pretty poor at drafting + developing (and that’s when they had a full scouting dept.) and I’m seeing teams I consider to be better than Buffalo at drafting who don’t seem sold on this draft. yeah the Sabres had their scout watch lots of YouTube highlight clips. 😂😢

@Greg S now this one I approve of! Very intrigued by Lane Lambert, and he’s certainly put in his dues.

very nice first coaching hire for Chris Drury. Not surprised. Why would any coach with other options come here right now? I am actually surprised that Bruce Boudreau wants to coach here. I just wish Buffalo had interest in hiring him. I wonder if Capuano told them to deny the interview? Either way, Ottawa doing us a favor here 😂

Isles and Avs is what I’m hoping for. I rooted for Vegas their 1st season because it was a cool story. But I’m not really rooting for them as much anymore. I just feel like that VGK fan base has had it way too easy. I think they’ve made the playoffs every year of their existence so far. Like, they are an expansion team and haven’t even had to suffer through a single bad season. Just seems... wrong, or something. But the team I root for has sucked for a decade, so it may be jealousy 😂

This isn’t going to end well for the Sabres if they’ve convinced themselves that they need to move on from Eichel now, at his lowest value ever, and set some stupid internal deadline to do it. I know all the extenuating circumstances but I still wish they would just keep Eichel until they get proper value in return.

Love that the isles eliminated Boston! I always like to see Boston lose (didn’t mind seeing Hall lose either), but it helps the Sabres since they hold Boston’s 2nd round pick. I think I’ll be rooting for the Isles the rest of the way.

not that I put much faith in Jeremy White’s “super secret Sabres source”, but I figured I’d share it anyway. this has seemed like the most likely outcome all along. I’m ok with it. I stil” would have preferred a veteran coach like Boudreau or Gallant but I’d take Granato over another inexperienced NHL coach (like some of the college coaches they interviewed) or David Quinn (who was also rumored to be in the mix). Still holding out hope that they surround Granato with at least 1 experienced coach (my ideal scenario would be someone like Boudreau as an associate head coach), but I’m guessing it’ll probably be guys like Dan Girardi and Matt Ellis, or maybe some other lesser known coach Granato has worked with over the years.
