So the eagles got a one-year rental... While giving up a safety who started 77 games in his career and two draft picks For a position that's not that big of a game changer... They got a better player but I don't think they stole him for a 1 year rental Sure they got a good player but they were capable of winning the super bowl with or without this trade... And they can also not win it This won't even move the odds a half a point with bookmakers...
-
I never said he wasn't a good player I said that he's not the difference between winning or losing a super bowl... It's 1 of 52 Good for them ... I also remember an eagles "dream team" that crashed They have a really talented team, I'm not denying that
-
Our own All pro safety we have people calling him washed If byard was 27 I'd be like damn.. he's losing a step every game and every hit just like our own guys that we say suck now lol He is a very good player but I'm not overreacting to a safety And yes howie has been doing great for a long time... The bills also have a roster that people around the league consider one of the deepest and most talented... We had more players plucked off of our waiver wire than the eagles People don't think fifth or sixth round picks will make a difference here... But we got benford in the 6th. pretty sure we got Dane Jackson in the 7th... Wyatt teller round 5 We obviously moved on from one but we hit on guys late that help our team

He's a good player He's not Sean Taylor... And safeties (unless your Sean Taylor or ed Reed) are heavily dependent on players around them and system Plenty of players have been all pros and pro bowlers 1 place and not in another Good player but I don't think the eagles lost last year because they didn't have him and he won't be the reason they win or lose this year Nobody is perfect... Didn't Howie trade LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonzo LOL Fifth round picks aren't throwaway pics... You only get 7 a year We've gotten plenty of good players in the fifth round Yes they got a good safety, they'll probably lose a good player next year because of his cap hit... And if they don't resign him they gave up two picks and a player for a rental... Even if he's a former pro bowler And they're not winning or losing a super bowl because of byard Howie is playing like it's super bowl or bust

Tyrod Taylor is a 10-year veteran... Mac Jones has way more starts and experience then Purdy and physical talent Look at McDermott's record over quarterbacks with less than 16 career starts... he holds them the under 15 points a game
-
Keep gushing... Trading for a 30-year-old safety with a 14 million dollar cap hit next year is not an answer in the NFL I was thinking of his old contract which he restructured but he still has a 14 million cap hit That's not a genius move.. I don't know what you think fantastic is but trading for a safety over the age of 30 with that contract is not it Jordan poyer tried hitting free agency after all proing and got 2 years 12 mil They gave up pics , a player, and 14 million cap hit next year for a 30-year-old safety The NFL isn't Madden... He's a good player but I would never say this is a great move Because a safety is not moving the needle on a super bowl... He's not even moving the line Especially with everything that can happen over the next 15 weeks Good player, this isn't Madden.. we got Matt Milano in the fifth round

I've seen jolly eat American food and lose their mind
-
And I still think the bills could beat San Francisco Purdy is exactly the type of quarterback that McDermott gives Fits too... Physically purdy is a lesser Mac Jones Which McDermott feasts on historically
-
Whatever you say Einstein There's not one team that is far and away the best team in the NFL and a 30-year-old safety is not the answer for any team Football is the ultimate team game 1 through 52 Drafting Tom Brady in the 6th round was a genius move... Picking up Kurt Warner as an undrafted free agent was genius This doesn't constitute as a genius move
-
Super bowls aren't won in October... It's not a guarantee they win And they have lots of people to pay over the next 2 years which you can't play salary cap Monopoly with They better win it this year because they have an aging o-line and lots of contracts to hand out... They're far from perfect And trading for a safety doesn't win a super bowl
-
He's trading for a 30-year-old safety with a 14 million cap hit next.. if they don't keep them it's two pics and a player for a rental It's not a genius move, despite being a good player The eagles are going to be in cap Hell in 1-2 seasons.. and willl have nothing around hurts

Devils advocate...what is Josh is the problem?
Buffalo716 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's called being a gunslinger... This board cried about his running for years and now the bills have neutered it... Hurting our offense Now you want to neuter his playmaking ability... With the way Josh Allen plays, and some of the throws he makes You need to take the good throws with the head scratchers... Because he is a gunslinger Like Brett favre If they neuter his game anymore we're going to be handicapping the most talented quarterback ever... If he gets 40 touchdowns a year but 10 to 15 turnovers you need to live with it Because he makes plays -
All deep balls are not made equal LOL.. Josh is chucking balls 60 yards down the field that are a little off The NFL constitutes a deep ball as 15 yards down field.. Josh is the best thrower of the football 15 to 20 yards down field in the NFL And you can throw seam balls 15-20 yards down the seam... It isn't 50 lol Josh is literally fine ... It's everybody else who's not rallying around him

Dude we have receivers running into each other down the field I don't care if they get open occasionally.. the spacing is horrible and we end up with two or three receivers in the same area I wouldn't trust anything either Mental block ? Lol the person drawing up our play designs has a mental block -
SNF-Dolphins @ Eagles (Keep the Bills stuff out of here, please!)
Buffalo716 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lmao He's literally doing a quarterback's job -
It's kind of a dumb question because even the Patriots are still mathematically alive We are above .500 Close this thread

Josh is doing his best Tom Brady impression in front of the sith lord himself

Well I certainly wouldn't give him part ownership lol And the past list of Heisman winners is irrelevant... As I've said every player is an individual case.. you can't judge by a school or past winners .. he certainly isn't manziel Tons of Heisman winners are running quarterbacks... Or guys who won't translate well like Tebow... Had stacked teams around them... Caleb is the team and has to carry ... The last 8 games of last year USC defense allowed 37 a game ... Literally terrible ... Puts insane stress on a QB ... And he won throwing from the pocket, and creating and throwing outside the pocket... NFL throws Again he checks every single box scouts look for... The worst game of his career is 23-37 200 yards 1 TD 3 picks... that's not good but every QB has a game like that .. Drake Maye has had bad games too... Multiple games with stats like that And I think USC wasn't that great last year and I don't think they are great this year ... I think they're an eight win team because of Caleb he literally made USC relevant again Literally has 23 touchdowns and four interceptions on the season... 70% completion.. he isn't playing bad ... he's carrying an overrated team that is starting to get exposed I think Williams and maye are the top 2 and even maye has had rough games
-
As I said Oklahoma... Which most wouldn't realize... Has the most wins post world war II and any division one program And they rebounded with venables without Caleb... And I think they're in a better long-term position still... Oklahoma is a traditional powerhouse for 70 years straight Not sold on USC and Lincoln Riley can't build the defense

Recruiting classes doesn't mean end all be all... The difference between a top 50 and a top 200 player at 18 years old will change drastically with coaching and development... Some teams maximize a top 200 player and turn them into a top 10 pick... Other teams don't develop a 5* top 15 recruit and put square pegs in round holes Saban built a dynasty because he consistently took top 50 and top 100 players... And consistently developed them in his scheme and strength and conditioning program which was a modern blueprint... He was able to redshirt top 20 kids.. keep them 5 years ... Unheard of... He can't even do it now Texas A&M has had top 5-10 recruiting classes for half a decade straight and they suck.. including a number one overall... Can't develop It takes a lot more than getting good 18-year-olds.... And Oregon State played Utah using a backup That shows how bad usc defense is... I think Oregon State and Utah are the most balanced teams in the pac 12... Washington has the highest ceiling Oregon state is a much better team than USC also.. USC wouldn't beat the beavers... They aren't gonna beat Oregon or Washington ... They might lose versus UCLA As I said USC is a four loss team... And it's not because of the QB at the end of the day They have holes... They have years of not properly developing their roster Sorry for the rant !
-
To be fair, you're saying a Heisman trophy winner doesn't step up in big games, when he is usually insanely good... Even against bad matchups USCs backup quarterback if he play today they lose by 20... Williams did put it on the line You don't understand the drop off between Williams and his backup... And how utahs defense is schematically a problem for USC... And Williams had a great game versus it last year He scored 42 points in a loss to Utah last year ... 45 In a loss to tulane... 32 in a loss today He had 381 yards five touchdowns versus Utah last year ... Lol They're not losing because of him... They have nobody else rallying around him Could you imagine Caleb Williams on Oklahoma right now? With a defense People would be gushing... Williams has the most pressure on any returning college football player I could remember in the last 15 years He certainly isn't perfect... He absolutely isn't a sure thing... But with the way the modern game is going... His tools are amazing... Any great coach should be able to get amazing things out of him
-
I'll tell you right now it won't be a 20 point blowout... Division games are tough I'd like to see a 20-point win but I don't see it Or Utah has a much better team around their backup quarterback which I've been saying Williams on Utah is a national championship quality team... But Utah can't recruit a quarterback of that pedigree ... Cam rising is a stud but he ain't Williams... Utah is so good top to bottom they can roll with a quarterback who walked on last year and be legit and beat USC There's only a handful of schools that can get a five-star number one quarterback out of HS... Utah almost out classes USC at every position besides quarterback and it shows Today was what I expected The better team won
-
Listen I don't think he's the best qb prospect I've ever seen and that's not what I'm campaigning for USC is severely overrated... They are out matched by Utah with a walk-on quarterback Caleb does not have much talent around him compared to other top schools
-
Certainly my biggest question mark about him But I don't think his weapons are as good as you think they are ... Utah's defense is better than USCs offense
-
I think that's why I message boards are here.. to have good discussions And Caleb really is only starting two and a half seasons... He took over from five Star Spencer rattler at Oklahoma... Spencer rattler was the number one pocket passer in his class and is going to get drafted this year out of South Carolina So he was sitting behind an NFL quarterback as a true freshman that he beat out... And burrow has talent.... And it took him three seasons and a transfer to shine Caleb had 21 touchdowns and four picks as a true freshman... Insane stats in a power five conference I don't think you could compare their arcs... Burrow as a finished product certainly was supreme... Caleb has been on top everywhere Certainly isn't perfect But do you know who's open downfield why he's holding the ball so long? Why does Josh hold it so long? If he's holding it because nobody's open and he's trying to create it's really not his problem I think USC is not a good football team
