    They didn't lose Sammy. They let him go to KC to get the same average salary they gave Cooks. I don't know how you can look at those two contracts and determine that the Rams were unhappy to see Sammy go. Surely they knew the contract Sammy was about to sign. They're not stupid. They didn't learn about his contract details at the same time we all did. Everything is being communicated back and forth in those discussions.

    They didn't try very hard to sign Sammy. He ended up getting a $16 million average salary per year in KC. The Rams traded a 1st round pick for Cooks and then gave HIM a $16.2 million average salary. They think Cooks is worth so much more than Sammy that they sacrificed a 2nd, traded a 1st, and paid $200,000 more per year to get him. I mean you really can't argue based on these facts that they were happy with what Sammy gave them. They could have just given him $16 million a year and not given up a 1st rounder on top of it.

     

    Oh and Sammy got just a 3 year deal with the Chiefs. The Rams gave Cooks a 5 year deal. There is no way you can try to argue that the Rams were happy with what Sammy gave them. Everything they've done this offseason indicates the opposite.

    This is an argument in favor of the people that think Sammy is overrated. The Rams traded a 2nd round pick and a starting level CB for him in a contract year, and instead of re-signing him they let him walk for nothing. If they could go back in time they wouldn't make that trade again. They didn't make that trade for a one year rental, he just didn't show enough there to make him worth a long term contract. Compare to Brandin Cooks who immediately got a long term contract done after he got traded there.

    You realize these are not the same thing, right? I was in support of keeping Fitzpatrick back in 2013 but we got the #65 pick in the draft for Tyrod. Are you saying you would have turned that down just to keep a middling starter on the team for an extra season? Good thing you aren't running the team.

    “Well, it’s like – I’m going to use another golf analogy,” Allen said. “When you slow down your swing, that’s when things tend to go wrong. So it’s about finding the right tempo in my arm for the ball to come over the top, get the right spin and ultimately hit the target in the right spot.

    “So I just can’t slow my arm down. And sometimes I think I need to. But I don’t need to. I just need to control it at the top a little better. That’s what we’re (working on).”

     

    That's encouraging to me. He doesn't have a lot of experience with those throws so he doesn't have to relearn muscle memory. He has to build it from scratch which is much easier. And he admits it is a flaw that he needs to work on. Nothing is guaranteed but I love his attitude about it.

    You haven't been paying attention. McDermott is noticeably frustrated with the offseason he's had and Jones was overwhelmed all of last season. This isn't the Rex/Whaley regime. Beane and McDermott are always looking to improve every position and no one is safe because of where they were drafted.
