I want a more rotational RB stable with each back a little specialized

I agree, I just don't think we absolutely need to draft a RB in round 2 or 3 to fill that role. A RB at 54 has become the trendy pick but I'll be surprised if this regime takes one there. They haven't placed a high value on that position at all. Singletary is the only RB they've drafted and they gave Yeldon a 2 year deal. I'm expecting us to roll into 2020 with Singletary, Yeldon, Taiwan Jones, and a 4th round or later pick. I think at pick 54 we'll take the best core position player available - CB, DE, OL, or WR.

My new preferred plan would be to take Anthony McFarland in round 4. He gives us speed at the position that Singletary doesn't have.

The complete disregard people have around here for people like john brown

I tend to think John Brown is a little overrated on here. The Bills have been starved for NFL quality WRs for so long that the first one we got was bound to be overrated. Nothing against Brown, he is a solid WR and unlike the trio we trotted out in 2018 he actually belongs on the field. But he is nothing special. In a really top tier WR room he would be the #3. I have come around to the idea of drafting a WR like Claypool or Pittman to give us that size element and I believe one of them would complete the WR corps.

Singletary IMO is not a 65% snap count kind of back.

This has become the narrative on this board, so much so that I've gone through the offseason thinking we NEED to draft a RB high. But I'm starting to question this. Singletary was one of the bright spots on offense last year. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry which is tied for 3rd among running backs - the other one is Derrick Henry. He was more efficient than backs like McCaffrey, Barkley, and Elliott, and we had at best a mediocre run blocking line. He made more than a few clutch plays throughout the season that kept drives going. And I still believe we would have won against Houston if Daboll had run Singletary more in the 2nd half. I know we need some kind of depth at RB but why are we assuming Singletary can't carry the load?

I think they'll come up with some sort of system where players are quarantined, tested every 3 days, etc to try their best to ensure a safe work environment.

The biggest road block is getting the players on board. And for that matter all the coaches, referees, NFL sideline officials... Are you going to tell everyone involved with an NFL game that they can't come in contact with their family for 6 months straight? How else do you keep everyone quarantined to ensure that not even one person tests positive? When I think about it like that the logistics sound impossible.

thats the rub..lets say you cant play there..how can you play anywhere? Jets play the Bills...no Jet games at home, so all their fans from the City come to Orchard park to watch ...same as playing in Met life no?

Such a freaking mess, lord knows what it is like in 3 months let alone 6

I think they might have to do neutral locations for every team in a very controlled environment. That's the only possibility in my mind. If even one player tests positive during the season the league would have to shut down for the rest of the year. But they cant give certain teams a competitive advantage because they happen to play in lax states. So I think we'll see an NFL season without home or away games.

The NFL has the luxury of time, they can wait 8 weeks until mid-June to make a final decision on the season. Unlike the other 3 major sports leagues which are losing time in their seasons now. However the NFL might have to make some difficult decisions then but there are just far too many variables for them to wait through.

The biggest problem I think they'll face is that they are at the mercy of several different state governments. The California governor already came out and said football with fans at the stadium is not something he foresees in his state. So what happens if even a couple states with NFL teams are still shut down in September?  What if several teams can run training camps but others can't? I think the most likely scenario right now is there will be football but with key differences - a shortened offseason, possibly a delayed start to the season, no fans allowed, for some teams maybe all games played at a neutral location out of state. It's pretty hard to predict this stuff. What if we get this wave under control but a second wave hits after life gets back to normal? It's a distinct possibility that we get halfway through the season and then a player tests positive and the whole league gets shut down, like what happened with the NBA.

if the original predictions did not include social distancing then they are not as smart as you think they are.

The original predictions were made in that way to encourage social distancing and as a result we were able to get the virus relatively under control. Epidemiological predictions aren't made in a vacuum.

a few weeks ago they were predicting millions of deaths. now looking more like under 100k. who knows where we will be in a month.

The original predictions were assuming no widespread social distancing policies. The new predictions are assuming we continue the current social distancing policies. You have to read beyond the headlines with this stuff because the media is notoriously bad at reporting science.

If you expect his ceiling to be a # 2 or #3 next year, he should not be the pick. Our window of opportunity is open and we need to pick a player who will help the team now.

He will help the team now. Any player we pick at that spot will not be a full time starter. Shenault fits right into Daboll's offense at McKenzie's spot and he has developmental upside to become a legitimate outside receiver. McKenzie basically is a starter in our offense, just in specific packages. Shenault is stronger and more physical and has better hands than McKenzie. It would be a perfect fit.

WR makes a lot of sense for them, but if one of the top OTs is still there, they have to make that their pick. The Jests OL is just awful and the next set of OT talent is much worse than WR. JMO

I get it, but I'd rather face Andrew Thomas than Jerry Jeudy for the next 10 years. It's not even close. I'll admit I'm one of those people that doesn't value o-line in the top 20 or so. I think Beane has the right idea in building your o-line through free agency and picks in round 2 and beyond.

  11. I'll be surprised if no WR goes in the top 10 but I suppose teams might convince themselves (stupidly, in my opinion) that they can wait to get a WR in a deep class. My fear is the Jets take Jeudy, Lamb, or Ruggs and we have to deal with one of them in the division for years to come. But I think you are right and they will draft an OT. Fine by me, they can have the best o-lineman in the draft for all I care.

Do you plan on doing a round 2 mock?

He had 4 1,000 yard seasons and some nfl people (not experts like Happy Days but still) like Sean Payton, Bill Belichick, and SeaN McVay invested 1st round picks in him. But those guys are dumb and obviously they did it because he’s wasn’t super talented

And then Sean Payton, Bill Belichick, and Sean McVay all traded him away. But those guys are dumb... yeah I'm gonna go ahead and back out of this one.

Cooks was a first round pick.  He’s super talented.

I don't know, man. This is a weird crusade. No one in the NFL thinks Diggs and Cooks are the same talent level. Cooks is somewhere in between Brown and Diggs. Good player. Not a #1 like Diggs is.

O.K., Buffalo, Buffalo, Buffalo … what do I know about Buffalo?

    WINGS!

They got some of the best wings, right?

I knew that for sure. I can definitely get with a place like that.

    So, wings, and….

    Josh Allen.

    They got Josh Allen, too.

The Bills came to Minnesota a couple of years ago and spanked us. It was Week 3 back in 2018, and it was the kind of upset that you’ve seen the Bills pull off a lot over the past few years. It’s like even though they’ve been on the rise for a minute now, it somehow seems like people are always sleeping on them.

We were favored in that game. Heavily. But Buffalo was ready. They beat us, 27–6, and one play really stands out to me. It was late in the first quarter. Josh dropped back, then took off running up the middle. About 10 yards down the field, our defense closed in on him. And just when it looked like he was dead in the water, he leaped over one of our linebackers — I mean hurdled the guy. He flew like five yards through the air, and he got the first down.

You just don’t see a lot of quarterbacks do stuff like that.

I remember being on the sidelines thinking, O.K. … this guy’s got some moxie. He just had a ton of energy and played with so much passion. And anybody who knows me knows that I’m a passionate guy. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I give everything I got every time I step onto the field.

I could tell right away that Josh Allen was the same type of player.

So once I found out about the trade, I couldn’t wait to go to work with him.

I know there are questions about Allen's ability but I think the league respects him more than most of the media.
