NFL Week #10 - Vikings at Bills - 1st half game thread
MPT replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pathetic is allowing 2 catches for 68 yards and a TD on the opening drive. -
The difference is that the UCL is crucial for the throwing motion whereas the ACL is not crucial for standing in the pocket. I'm not a doctor but several players have played their entire careers without an ACL. I don't know of any QBs or pitchers who have played without a UCL and I don't think it's even possible.

Edmunds had the ball secured going all the way to the ground. Uzomah never even had partial possession of the ball from the moment it got knocked out of his hands.
-
That's exactly what I thought of. There has never been another example of one team clearly controlling the ball and the refs giving the ball to the other team. And then it happened AGAIN tonight. This ***** just doesn't happen to anyone else except the Bills. Referees are dog ***** with an agenda.

Agree that the line is more important, but every team in the league is fighting over too few quality offensive linemen. Singletary has proven he can be productive with a revolving offensive line. I hope you're right that they'll find a replacement, but I like the consistency Singletary has shown and I think any replacement in FA will cost just as much and carries a lot more unknown.
-
Again, I don't disagree with that. He'll break some nice runs a couple times a game and, more importantly, he'll be a mismatch in the short passing game. But he won't carry the ball 150+ times a year for 4.5 yards per carry like Singletary does.
-
I agree with that. I was disagreeing with all the posters who were saying that the Hines trade means that Singletary will be gone next year and Cook/Hines will be our RB tandem.
-
Don't get me wrong, I like both of their skill sets. But neither of them are going to grind out yards between the tackles-- something which Singletary has become very good at.
-
Hines is not a replacement for either of them. He's a replacement for the guy we just drafted. Edit: I should clarify that if the Bills think Hines gives them a better shot at a Super Bowl than Cook, I'm fine with the trade. It's just clearly not a move for a future RB1.
-
A lot of people here are grading this trade on the pieces moved, which would definitely be in our favor (Moss and a 6th for Hines is a no-brainer). However, Hines' contract means we'll be paying him $9 million over the next two years to be a 3rd down back while an unproven rookie will be our RB1. And that's assuming he doesn't get a new contract bump. Singletary has turned into a reliable and productive bell cow and I wouldn't have minded paying him $6 million a year especially if the Bills are willing to pay 75% of that to someone with 25% of his production. Also, I think people are delusional if they think that Cook was ever meant to be an RB1. He's just not built physically for that role. So now we're paying for a 3rd down back when we already drafted one and we'll still have to pay Singletary, or find a worse option for cheaper in FA, or draft another RB. Still gonna root for him to do well obviously, but this move is near the bottom of our trade needs.

NFL Week 8: Packers at Bills - 2nd half game thread
MPT replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
They let opponents get in their head too easily. It's burned us a few times. Gabe could have had a nice game but dropped a few passes and got a personal foul. I'm sure Allen is forcing throws because of it as well.
