Bills announce contract extension for Tyrod Taylor
CommonCents replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depending on the structure and options it could have been the prudent thing to do. At the very least TT offers a serviceable floor. So if you ink him to a mid level deal with an ability to void the deal after 2/3 years it's a far better situation than tagging him just to avoid trotting EJ or Brian Hoyer out there. This deal should be much less restrictive on the cap and if he does take the next step you have him under control for 6 years at a bargain price. The unicorn talk and the foolishness that we suddenly have a franchise QB is over the top though. -

If your going to give him a new contract this is certainly the way to do it. A short term bridge deal would have been more restrictive on the cap. Many mentions of team options which is a good thing, they have nothing behind TT but a long term project in Cardale and staring at the tag price next year for a QB. This actually lessens the risk, he is under team control on a mid-level deal and even if he takes a step back this price is acceptable until you can find another option. Congrats TT! -
Aaron Williams - possible concussion

Kolb, Welker. Those are the kind of guys teams need to wave the white flag for. Awil had made the comment he won't know if he can play again until he hits someone? Something to that extent, that's alarming. I don't think the team is at fault, that doesn't sound like something a doctor would say. It sounds like a player who was cleared but is nervous after being hospitalized last season. Can't blame him and without knowing the contract details I have no idea how a retirement would shake out. -
2016 NFL Preseason Week 1 Starts Tonight

Dan Roche is doing the play by play, he was always just a local sportscaster for WBZ. He does some radio fill in now, he was on this morning saying how nervous he was because NFL Network picked up the broadcast. Funny down to earth guy, great dad. Here is a battle rap he just did vs. another radio head. Pretty funny for anyone drinking a few. -

Move Blanton over, bring back Rambo for depth and end this string of destruction for Awil. Whether it's his luck or playing style it feels inevitable that this is going to end badly. He loves the game, find a place for him to hang around the team in a different capacity. Tom said it best...a major injury would be hard to swallow with all these warning signs reoccurring over the past year. -

Garret Grayson looks composed, probably seeing vanilla defense though. -

Are you one of those old guys at the gym who put their tube socks on before they put on their tighty whites? I have always wondered what the reasoning is behind that. -
Jason Cole report on Doug Whaley

Come out acting like a child, dig in your heels, walk right into the obvious fact that Whaley wanted Ragland and Shaq both at 19 then claim victory while spinning in circles. Awesomeness, good luck. -

Biggest need filled in the first round with Lawson. What was the second biggest need? ILB....oh look Ragland is sliding down the board. He is a 150 tackle guy blah blah blah...he is a great linebacker a decade ago, now he is a younger version of Brandon Spikes. First two picks two biggest needs filled then on to Washington etc. Was this is a perfect draft or was it a patchwork attempt to acquire guys for Rex to revamp the defense? We won't be able to judge that for a few years because of injuries. I forget, weren't the comments made that Whaley would have taken Ragland at 19 if Shaq wasn't there? Does anyone of this not seem all too convienent for any one team. What are the chances that Ragland an ILB is going to have more impact than those guys we didn't draft? Then in the process you dropped 2 more 4th round picks to get up and get him. Injuries or not it was a silly move. https://www.google.com/amp/www.buffalorumblings.com/platform/amp/buffalo-bills-news/2016/4/29/11542076/reggie-ragland-preston-brown-bills-depth-chart-doug-whaley?client=safari Discussion over. Our two biggest needs were edge and ILB, look who Whaley says were the top two players on his board at 19. How convienent. -

Was Washington a need? Not unless we are going are pushing career backups into starting roles like Bryant and whom ever else still lingers around. Kyle is on his last legs, will anyone be surprised if this is his last season here? Was Karlos a need? I don't know, I remember Fred being cut after a good preseason game. That tells me they wanted to move on from him and used a pick on a RB to do so. I don't remember ever saying not to fill a need, when you do it pick after pick you are undoubtedly passing on superior talent in order to "fill" out your roster. Let's see how these season shakes out. If we have a worse record than last year we can revisit all these conversations. This team is a Tyrod Taylor MVP season away from the playoffs, I have my fingers crossed. -

Look at draft history before you go spouting off nonsense and name calling like a petulant child. You should notice a trend. If you don't see anything just slowly remove your head from your backside. It's shocking at first, but you can still be a Bill's fan while accepting that things aren't all sunshine and rainbows. -

The odds are probably pretty slim that the best player on the board is your biggest position of need, when that happens in consecutive rounds your probably paddling full steam up ***** creek and over valuing guys that fit your biggest need. Heck even the Jets knew that the kid from USC was too much of a beast to pass up on while already having Richardson and Wilkerson. Even the JETS. Ew. -

A few other good examples would come from the the other team that played in the Super Bowl. Denver drafted Shane Ray when they already had Miller and Ware. They also drafted Bradley Roby while having CHJ and Talib. Both of those were first round picks. -

Ehh he is useless but his rant had a purpose. He took an easy talking point, projected it onto nameless members of the organization and then fed it to a rabid fanbase for his own benefit. Cole's just playing around in the ever increasing gray are of "journalism". Probably should lock this up to minimize the traffic. -

For the billionth time the Patriot love fest started with Bledose, Kraft and Coates. They went to the super bowl in 1997 and luckily Desmond Howard and company made that a forgettable experience. -
