PASS PROTECT FILM REV- WEEK 8 MIA-MILLER STRUGGLES
Nihilarian replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me refresh some thoughts here since you felt the NEED to throw EJ in there. Not defending him but there is more to the story here. Good job on the post Bo, just don't see the need to throw EJ under the bus some more, as the guy is already roadkill. Sammy played, Miller played, Henderson played, Karlos played, and Tyrod played who only threw it 12 times all game long! Which meant the run game was working to the tune of 36 rushes for 266 yards. That rushing stat with with an average gain of 8.2 yards per carry. 420 yards total yards of offense with 33 points! Now take away Karlos - 110 yards 2 TD's. Take away Sammy 168 yards 1 TD. Take away those skill players, and 2 blockers and you get 163 yards of offense with 12 points. Now think about the Dolphins being 31st against the run. Greg Roman had almost the perfect game plan against the Phins, and lets hope the offense can keep this up. The NY Jets have the #4 overall defense, and are currently #1 against the run. -
IK Enemkpali to be team captain vs. Jets

"But because Ryan is Ryan, here is a transcription of his Monday press conference in Buffalo, at least on the topics relative to the Jets." http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/11/rex_ryan_on_ik_enemkpali_jace_amaro_getting_the_fi.html -

maybe the Jets can name Geno as a captain, and when they meet for the toss he taunt IK about that money again. -

Do the Bills still go QB in round 1?
Nihilarian replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gonna definitely be interesting to see how this seasons progression goes, and if Tyrod can stay healthy the rest of the games. The LBers are lame in the current system, and the safety's aren't up to par. The team needs a clear #2 WR because Woods is not looking like he is it. From CBS Sports, 19. Buffalo Bills 2015 record: 4-4 (.530) Top need: Right tackle Other needs: Linebacker, safety Senior prospects at positional needs: OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); LB: Jordan Jenkins (Georgia), Reggie Ragland (Alabama), Terrance Smith (Florida State); Safety: Deon Bush (Miami), Jeremy Cash (Duke), Kevin Byard (Middle Tennessee State). Analysis: It wasn't that long ago that the Bills selected both Seantrel Henderson and Cyrus Kouandjioin the same draft to compete for the right tackle spot. Unfortunately, it is looking like neither guy will end up becoming the starter of the future and the Bills just might agree with that sentiment. The Billsneed an upgrade in talent at most of the linebacker positions and a safety who can handle himself in coverage. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000572264/article/2016-nfl-draft-order-and-needs-nos-1120 @JETS @NE @KC Houston @ PHILLY @WASH Dallas Jets 5 of 8 on the road -
The guy would fit right in on a Rex Ryan team since it isn't about keeping a low profile, and not getting penalties. EDIT: Percy has never had problems behind the scenes with his teammates or anything like that. How many 1k yard seasons has Harvin had in his 7 year career, none? And it would be nice if Robert Woods had some of Stevie's ability to get open, and make plays. How many 1000 yard years has Wood or Watkins had? Watkins stays off twitter, and out of the public eye, huh? He just once in a while openly slams the fans. Sure, Stevie had his issues. But the kid played injured A LOT, and always found a way to get open even against some of the best CB's in the league like Revis Island. I'd love to see Sammy or Woods get back to back to back 1000 yard receiving years in Buffalo!

Sok, Rex knows what he is doing! BTW, Sacks don't matter..

Do the Bills still go QB in round 1?
Nihilarian replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whoa, Kirby going O line with the first pick ...I like it! Then considering that Glenn could be gone as an UFA, and so could Incognito because he is only signed for one year. I gotta wonder if the Bills will pony up the money to keep either, and if not a LT will almost be a mandatory pick. I also wonder if Rex Ryan won't want a linebacker instead. -
Is Rex stubbornly imposing his scheme on wrong players?
Nihilarian replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, and I agree! To the bolded, Fans will be fans, and most only focus on the QB and wins. The Dolphins had almost 400 yards of total offense with Talleywhacker 309 yards passing, and 16 first downs passing. The Bills gave the Dolphins 7 first downs by penalty with 13 for 94 yards against Buffalo. The defense only two sacks against a bad phins line. I'm dreading the thought of what Brady will do to this defense again in two weeks. Sadly that even with the by week, and with that extra time off it wasn't the defense that changed or saved the day. Instead it was the injured offensive skill players returning. McCoy 112 yards rushing, and a TD. Karlos 110 yards rushing 2 TD's. Sammy 8 rec for 168 yards and 1 TD. I would have never thought that Ryan would force his defensive scheme on a team better suited to run something different. A my way or the highway type guy. -
Excellent points! Sad to say that most of the fans just don't see this, and keep asking what is wrong with the defense. Before Yesterday Jerry Hughes one sack, Kyle Williams one sack, Marcell Dareus one sack, Mario Williams three sacks in seven games. After yesterday Jerry Hughes getting two sacks he now has three sacks, and nobody else had a sack. Kyle Williams isn't Pat Williams, and one is a space eater while the other is a quicker, faster gap penetrator. The same thing with Dareus, as the team didn't spend a #3 overall pick on the guy hoping he is a pure gap controller. If you ask a DE that weighs 254 lbs to constantly take on a 300+ lb OT, and perhaps be chipped by the TE, RB he won't ever get to the QB. Because that same thing is happening on the other side to the heavier 292 lb DE. That wide nine defense put Hughes, Mario on the outside of the OT's shoulder which gave them a faster path to the QB, and made the offense spread out. Thus leaving wider gaps in the line, and when the LBers stepped up to plug those gaps pre snap the O linemen don't know who is coming and who isn't. This scheme clearly allowed the defense to get more pressure on the QB more often while also helping the secondary because the QB was forced to make reads faster, and get the ball out faster. Thus forcing the QB prone to making more mistakes.

Whaley still has his warts, and winning sure does hide them well. The more the team wins the less fans will look at the mistakes, and there have been many mistakes. Should the Bills somehow make the playoffs this season I doubt anyone will listen to anyone saying anything negative about the man.

This is what I think about, because I'm not looking forward to that Patriots game in two weeks. Especially If Ryan runs that same soft coverage scheme with the DB's 10 yards off the line. Even Fitz with his quick release is a concern. 16 first downs passing to Tallywhacker! Currently the Bills are #15 overall in total defense, but still 22nd against the pass. 27th in sacks, 29th in sack percentage. Rex Ryan says he isn't worried about sacks, and yet those pressures, hurries, hits are all so important to how well a defense does. When the team doesn't get pressure on the QB it causes so much more problems for the secondary, and means they have to stay in pass coverage longer. Considering how bad the Bills are this year in getting pressure on the opposing QB it just shows me how good a job Gilmore, Darby, Robey are playing this year. What really bothers me is that this years defense really could have been so special in the right scheme.
-
Whats worse is when you actually break down those first downs. Rushing they had 6 first downs Passing they had 16 first downs By penalty 7 first downs The Bills 13 penalties for 93 yards.
-
So true. I know I was expecting real greatness from this years defense, and it caught me thinking that this years defense could be one of the best all time, like the 85 Bears with his father Buddy Ryan as DC, Or the 2000 Ravens with Rex as the D line coach. If Schwartz can get to #4 in the NFL in total defense, and #1 in sacks. Then Rex Ryan and his blitz happy Jets scheme like it was under Pettine then it should be even better. Rex Ryan stating before the season that this is the most talent he has ever had on a defense. This years defense is frustratingly mediocre, and I would have never thought that Ryan would be the type of defensive coach that forces players to fit his system rather then focus on what his players do best. At this point Schwartz is making Ryan look mediocre

This is exactly what Rex & Roman stated they would do with this years offense. 20 passes, and 35+ runs. Tayor 11 of 12 for 154, and the RB's 36 rushes for 266 yards rushing. What was so great about today's offense was the passing yard per pass was 10.3, and yards per rush was 7.4. I gotta tell ya I loved this style off offense! That deep bomb to Sammy was a thing of beauty!
