  1. Good stuff, and now I like him even more. Great show, and I think one of the most popular shows on TV / cable for the last five years. But what about Glenn?
  2. Those words do have meaning, and are defined as "almost, nearly, approximately"... everyone in the sentence you posted. Bills fans have every right to post their views here good or bad and not be pigeon holed into one of two simplistic degrading groups. But hey, feel free to have the last word as I'm done attempting to get through, and I'm glad I could add some hilarity.
  3. Oh, If i use the term "pretty much" then I can say anything I want then change it around later because I said pretty much? That post of yours was pretty much one of the stupidest posts I've ever read here, and yet you come back to defend it. BTW, this is what Sammy posted that got this topic of conversation started in the first place.
  4. I think the major difference is that Amendola can somewhat fill that Edleman / Welker role, and right now the Patriots have nobody like Dion Lewis who was excellent at both running the ball and catching the ball out of the backfield. In that Washington game Boldin had one rush for 12 yards, and 3 rec for 27 yards 1 TD, and in the next game against the Giants he had one rush for -3 yards, and no receptions Believe it or not Edelman was the reception leader in only one game this year, and that was against Dallas. Steelers-A Brown Buffalo- Gronkowski Jacksonville- Gronkowski Dallas-Edelman Indy- Amendola Jets- Gronkowski Miami-Gronkowski Washington-Lafell NY Giants- Gronkowski Brady makes whomever he decides to throw to the most look good.
  5. In my breaking this game down I think Brady will miss WR Julian Edleman, and RB Dion Lewis a LOT! But the Patriots also have WR Danny Amandola who is used to playing in that Wess Welker / Edleman type of roll. They also have WR's Brandon Lafell & Aaron Dobson who have both been quiet in the offense this year because Brady would throw so often to those two that are now out injured. Then there is the unquestionable best tight end in today's game in Rob Gronkowski who no team has been able to stop, and also they have TE Scott Chandler who they use in the red zone for another big target. The Patriots now have LeGarrette Blount at the starting RB position who is a hammer of a RB much the same way the Bills Karlos Williams has been for Buffalo. The biggest loss to the Patriots in terms of a player is probably RB Dion Lewis who was so adept at running the ball, and catching passes out of the backfield like a wide receiver. After only 9 games Tom Brady is currently the leading yardage passer in the league with 3,043 yards, and 24 TD's. The Patriots currently are fielding the #2 team in the NFL in total offense, and they are the #3 passing team in the league. This game will be about slowing down Brady by getting pressure on him, and now allowing him to get into a solid rhythm. It will also be about protecting Tyrod Taylor who was sacked 8 times in the first game. But then we all know what happens when Brady gets into a funk, and has difficulty throwing it at all. Belichick will start pounding the rock to help stabilize Brady, and once the defense then works on stopping the run then Brady starts throwing again. The Bills played a soft cover defense in the first game unlike any team I've even seen coached by Rex Ryan. He was having the Bills DB's play ten yards off the line of scrimmage while having the front four play a passive aggressive style with the ends rushing, and DT's in gap control. The Bills had Jerry Hughes dropping into pass coverage on Gronkowski at times, and also had Kyle Williams dropping back to cover an area like in a zone blitz scheme. When this happened the Bills would then at times only rush with three. Brady then scorched the Bills secondary to the record setting tune of 466 yards passing allowed because of that craptastic Ryan scheme. I was so used to seeing the Jets run that overload Blitz scheme under Pettine where he would always send one more then the offense had blocking to get pressure on the QB. This years defensive scheme is a total turnaround from that scheme, and is currently 30th in QB hurries, 29th in sacks, and sack percentage. The Buffalo Bills are currently fielding the 16th best defense in yardage, 18th against the pass, 8th against the run, 15th in scoring allowed. What the Bills defense has been good at is getting turnovers, and are currently 6th in the league with a +5 turnover differential. The Bills are also #3 in "toxic differential" which means Its not merely good enough to avoid turning the ball over, you need to generate big offensive plays as well. The holy grail is having a double positive, in other words a team is winning the turnover differential AND the explosive play differential. That stat was created by ex Raven HC Brian Billick. This game for the Buffalo Bills will be like climbing Mt Everest without oxygen. Meaning it can be done, but its an almost impossible task even on a good day.
  6. You basically said otherwise by putting anyone who is down on Sammy into one of two categories by saying they are either angry or don't watch games while comparing stat lines. Then "pretty much" means that they pretty much fall into one of the two categories you impose.
  7. Could it be possible that some fans simply didn't like the idea for giving up three draft picks, and two of them first round picks for a WR when the team didn't already have an established franchise QB? When they voice their opinions on that subject it automatically makes them "angry", and anti Whaley / Sammy? Last week Sammy Watkins was the 5th best receiver on the team with 7 targets for 3 receptions for 14 yards. That is a lot of targets for only three catches. There is nothing wrong about the fact that Bills fans want, and expect more from a player that cost the team three draft picks. I highly doubt anyone here is saying that they aren't rooting for Sammy Watkins to start putting up the numbers equal to some of the top wide receivers in today's game. The reality is that he isn't even consistently putting up numbers that a single first round draft pick puts up much less a player that cost the team three draft picks, and two firsts. He did manage to do that in his first year even with all the injuries and the Bills using him as a decoy a lot of the time. Most fans can see the potential in the player and are frustrated because they see other players doing so much better this year. Bills fans want, and expect to see greatness from this player and shouldn't be chastised by other fans when they voice their views. Bills fans have every right to B word and complain, and it doesn't make them any less of a Bills fan when they do B&C because it shows they really only want to win games. Fifteen years man! Fifteen years of being a no playoff losing team, of being a laughing stock bottom feeder in the division can create a lot of frustration. BTW, putting fans who are down on a Bills player for any reason into two category's is just lame, and says more about you then it does them.
  8. No I don't, and simply because Watkins has been bogged down with injuries this season. Watkins will always be compared to Odell Beckham Jr in my view because the Bills could have stayed put at #9, and drafted Beckham who went to the Giants at 12th while still having that 2015 first round pick. Whats crazy is the Bills had a real interest in Beckham before the draft, and for some reason lost that interest.
  9. Naa, ALWAYS is 6-10 or 7-9. An 8-8 season would be a better finish then only two other times in the last 15 years.
  10. Of course we all want Watkins to put up the numbers like he did in that Miami game every week. 8 rec for 168 yards, 1 TD. That is only one game this season though. 0-60-39-0-0-48-0-168-14. This last game 7 targets, 3 rec for 14 yards. Sammy will always be compared to Beckham who is currently the 4th best WR this year 10 games 63 rec for 863 yards 8 TD's, and the NY Giants didn't give up their 2014 AND 2015 first round picks for the kid. There is a real reason as to why some Bills fans are being critical about the current situation. Injuries aside, QB aside, offensive scheme aside the player is not even close to the level of expectations of most fans. All we can do is hope we see more games like the Miami game.
  11. This! The reality is that a win like the Bills had over the Jets is pretty much unsustainable simply because lady luck had so much to do with that win. Two INT's & two fumbles aren't going to happen every game, and at times the pendulum swings the other way. Then, was this game an aberration in only 5 penalties for 44 yards or will we see the Bills giving the opponent 7 first downs again? The Texans just beat the undefeated Bengals at Cincy, and the Chiefs pretty much dominated the Broncos at KC. The Bills currently at 5-4, and they could easily lose the next three. I give them no chance in New England to beat the unbeaten Patriots in New England. My vote was 6-6.
  12. The jests got Rambo'd !! The kid was involved in three turnovers! Very very good pass defense despite the lack of pressure, and yet there was good pressure at times from Dareus. Brandon Marshall 10 targets with 3 catches for 23 yards.
  13. i'm just happy the defense didn't give the Jests any first downs by penalty, and only had 5 penalties for 44 yards all game. A drastic improvement!
  14. Considering that defense he faced with no turnovers is huge. Philly fans must be mad as hell at Chip Kelly today for trading away Shady McCoy.
  15. #9, it was SHADY that gets my game ball, and the defense still has its warts. But they did play better with no crazy stupid penalties that would give the Jests first downs!!
  16. Special teams Colton Schmidt watching some Jets chick lift up her shirt? I want to take the jerk who committed that penalty on that kick off return behind the shed! Going from near the 50 back to the 19 yard line Carpenter made his three, but missed an extra point. But yea, the penalties were minimal, and didn't give those lousy Jets any first downs by penalty!!!!
  17. Stevie comes to mind. Anyway, I'm not going to dissect this win...on the road...against the #4 team in total defense...against the #1 team against the run. I'm just crazy happy they pulled this one out, and Ryan's emotional outburst after the game kinda epitomizes how I feel. Those Bills played their hearts out!
  18. Rex, and the GM. Epic rant. Somewhere in Detroit someone is thinking this same stuff.
  19. Wow, put a fork in him, as Whaley must have finally given up on him. Don't worry tho because RG3 & Kaepernick will be available. hey, at least the Bills didn't use three first rounders on him like the Redskins did with da Griff
  20. That's just it Yolo. The Bills are 29th in the NFL in getting pressure on the QB so how can you expect the Bills to get any pressure on Fitz at all on him when he is playing behind the #1 line in the league in allowing sacks, and the #5 line in allowing hits? Because of those stats it tells me this game Fitz will have all day to throw with very little pressure on him. Then Jets WR Brandon Marshall is currently the 6th leading receiver in the NFL. I don't like this at all because I want Buffalo to win this game. However, I just don't see it. Unless the Bills offense can put up big numbers, and they are going up against the #4 team in total defense that is also #1 against the rush. A very tough game on the road, and with a short week to boot.
  21. You can daydream about the pressures / hurries all you want, but the truth is they go hand in hand with the sacks. The Bills are currently 29th out of 32 in QB pressures / hurries. The Jets are the #1 team in the NFL with only 9 sacks allowed all year, and have allowed 31 hits which puts them at 5th best. This is not a good match up for Buffalo unless Ryan changes his scheme.
  22. Ryan has already said that Fitz is one of those QB's that get the ball out so quickly that the pass rush doesn't stand a chance. The Jets have the #4 defense with the #1 defense against the run. This game could be so different from last game. I think the Bills penalties will be the difference. Jets 24-17 Bills
  23. If we can see this then so must Doug Whaley, and he must be fuming on how some of the defensive players are currently being misused. Whaley has been able to find and bring in so many good defensive players in his time as GM so I suspect he had a vision as to how good this years defense was supposed to be under Ryan. I would think that he must have thought he would see an improved version of Mike Pettine's defense, I know I did. The new owners probably can't see whats specifically wrong this year, and given that they still must be concerned that the teams 1/4 billion dollar investment on that front four is not paying off in this scheme. I can only wonder if these new owners are happy with the head coach they hired. Right now I have a love / hate relationship with Rex Ryan as the Bills head coach. I love Tyrod Taylor, Richie Incognito, and even Percy Harvin when I saw how much effort he put out on the field. I love how Rex Ryan embraced the community. How he had drinks with the local fans, and how he had his truck painted in a Bills theme. Rex is very, very likable! But then so was Chan Gailey. Jauron's players loved him, and played their hearts out for him every game. Then we all saw how limited they were in their inability to win games. While there is still hope for this season at 4-4 the playoffs are looking very unlikely with 5 of the next 8 games on the road. Plus, the Bills play the Patriots again in New England in two weeks, and I can only wonder what records the defense will give up this game. I'm dreading this game. I absolutely hate his big mouth, and his constant goading of other teams while giving them more incentive to win the game to shut him up. He is the polar opposite of Bill Belichick / Marv Levy in that regard, and others areas too. I hate all the penalties this team has accrued this season. Mostly because they give the opponent first downs, and ruin a series of plays and team effort because of stupid player mistakes. This is all about team discipline, and poor coaching. I hate the inflexibility in the current defensive scheme where its my way or nothing. I never would have thought that Rex Ryan was the type of coach that forced his system on players that don't fit his scheme.
  24. I simply don't understand why some fans refuse to acknowledge how one coaching staff can have the #4 defense, and with basically the very same players suddenly become mediocre to bad. Then say that nothing is wrong this year. The Bills currently 15th in net yards allowed 21st in pass defense, and not because of bad play by the CB's, as the lesser pressure on the opposing QB then longer they need to stay in pass coverage! Sacks matter, and QB pressures, hits, hurries all matter because the more those things happen the more the QB tries to rush to get the ball out thus the more mistakes they make with the ball. Eight games played is enough to see a bad scheme, and actually it very noticeable in week two against the Patriots. You know, the one where Brady set a Buffalo Bills franchise worst 466 yards passing by one player. That game the defensive scheme was a soft cover cushion that had the DB's play off the line 10 yards, and the front four got very little pressure on Brady. How little pressure on Brady you ask? "Rex Ryan, Dennis Thurman and defensive coaching staff: Ryan told his team that this loss was on his shoulders, and so he's a natural place to start in the "down" column. Ryan's defensive game plan couldn't put pressure on Tom Brady-- the Bills disrupted (a sack, batted ball, passed defense or interception) only 9.8 percent of Brady's dropbacks, a lower rate than in any of the Bills' 2014 games -- and he never seemed to have an effective plan for stopping either Rob Gronkowski or Julian Edelman." http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/21042/bills-breakdowns-vs-patriots-start-with-rex-ryan-defensive-staff We all knew and saw it with George Edwards, with Dave Wannstedt, and we saw the excitement that can come with a heavy blitzing scheme in Mike Pettine. In 2013 under Pettine the Bills had the #10 defense, and #4 in pass defense, #2 in sacks with 57 which were actually more they Schwartz had in 2014 which was 54. Most of us were expecting to see that Mike Pettine blitz heavy defense this year, and it just isn't happening. The Bills are currently on pace to have a 26 sack season. So why on earth did the Bills just pony up the big money for Dareus, Hughes this year only to see them virtually wasted, and Dareus especially who has only one sack while being used for gap control. Anyway, Bills fans have a solid reason to be frustrated, aggravated, and concerned about this years defense because most of us expected greatness, and not excuses!
