  1. If I was a junkman selling you cars, Washing your windows and shining your stars, Thinking your mind was my own in a dream What would you wonder and how would it seem? Living in castles a bit at a time The King started laughing and talking in rhyme.
  2. Sounds about right. OTC shows $10 million and Spotrac is now at $11.1 million. Both seem to have everything now except Ty Johnson (who will be a minimal hit compared to the 51st guy he replaces) and Curtis Samuel. At 3 years $24 million Samuel's first year is probably around $4 - $5 million. So $6M-ish sounds good.

  5. So you're in favor of the sun rising at 4:00 AM and setting at 8:00 PM in the summer?
  6. OMG I'm such a dunce!!! LOL I wondered what you meant by two Matt Milanos and I clicked every page of his I could find, never thinking to scroll further down. Okay, we're finally on the same page, LOLOL. And with that my response is . . . I haven't got a clue. By that I mean I haven't got a clue why those numbers are there in 2025 and 2026. But from everything I see you are totally correct that they shouldn't be. There was a time when they should have been, and my best assumption is when MM signed the new contract that removed the void from those years then those figures should have been removed and somebody from Spotrac forgot to. I can see that happening as they literally have close to 3,000 players to keep track of, and no doubt mistakes are made. But yeah, those numbers are already, and rightfully included in their respective years, either under the prorated column where they belong or included in the listed dead cap figures of $17,253,000 for 2025 or $11,071,000 in 2026 should MM be traded or cut. I'm with you. They don't belong there. Apologies for the confusion.
  7. Yes, you are right. So right in fact I believe somebody from Spotrac must have seen your post and fixed it because none of those numbers are even there anymore. Good job.
  8. Are you talking about the $1,293,000 figures that are listed each year from 2023-2026? The ones that say "restructure" above them? That's what it is. It was salary that was turned into bonus in 2023 and spread out over the years until 2026. Yes it was supposed to be dead cap, but that was only if the contract voided and accelerated all that cap to 2024. And yes the new cap kept the contract from voiding so those figures never became actual dead cap. But they're still real figures. Instead of becoming dead cap after the contract would void, the contract years became real years and the prorated restructure charges just stayed where they were - $1,293,000 each year through 2026. They're not phantom numbers. It's a real charge to the cap. But it never became actual "dead cap" because dead cap is a cap charge for a player who's no longer under contract. Since he's still under contract those figures just stayed where they always were - prorated cap charge for the 2023 restructure. When we see a dead cap charge on Spotrac for a player who's actually still under contract, that isn't really a dead cap figure yet. It's just Spotrac listing the figure as dead cap because that's what's expected to happen when a contract with void years actually voids. If a new contract is reached and the void years don't void, the dead cap charge doesn't disappear in real life because it was never there as dead cap in real life. It just disappears off Spotrac because they were listing it as dead cap even though it technically wasn't yet.
  9. Correct, it's not all additive. It's one or the other. Spotrac shows it that way because they are showing what the numbers are technically, right now, and also what the numbers will be when the contract voids as expected. It's not an official site so they can do that. So yeah, the reason it shows $812,500 for the next 3 years (actually 4 years counting this one) is because technically the contract is not yet void and technically Douglas is under contract through 2027. So the proration is, for now, spread out between the years 2024-2027 at $812,500 per year. And yes, the $2,437,500 dead cap figure is the total of those 3 years from 2025-2027 that will all be accelerated to 2025 once the contract actually voids. So if the contract voids as expected right before 2025 starts, the $2,437,500 number will be the 2025 dead cap. If, however, they reach a new deal that un-voids those years and Douglas stays under contract, then the $812,500 figures stay in place for those years as prorated bonus and the dead cap figure would disappear.
  10. No. And they won't be until June 1st. June 1st savings don't apply to a team's cap until June 1st.
  11. Personally, I'd be very happy if this were the only thing people got wrong this time of year. You left out Brings something to the table, and Still has something in the tank.
  12. That's technically true. But the alternative was to leave that $8+ million as salary. And if he still didn't produce he would have gotten the money even if he didn't get a single sack. Perspective.
  13. Thanks. I get all that. I was simply responding to the poster that wanted to know who gets to decide if the incentives are LTBE or NLTBE. The CBA clearly establishes which is which. There is no subjectivity to it as the poster suggested.
  14. It's all spelled out in the CBA. Everything fits into a category one way or another so there's nobody subjectively saying, well he'll probably get 2 sacks so we'll make LTBE. Generally (but certainly not always) if a player didn't get the stat the year before then its considered NLTBE. In this case, since he got zero sacks last year all sack incentives are NLTBE. Actually, according to the rules spelled out in the CBA, those are all NLTBE incentives. Meaning, none of those incentives will count against the salary cap this year. And any of them that are reached will be charged against next year's cap.
  15. It means they added 3 void years to his contract, then converted a bunch of his 2024 salary to signing bonus that can be prorated over those 4 years. Thus making our 2024 cap charge smaller by charging the rest of it to next year's cap when the void years kick in. It's not really an extension as Douglas still winds up with the same amount of money this year and his contract ends after this year. It's just a different way of saying restructure, I guess. Note: Nothing says in the future they can't still come to an agreement on an extension and simply change some or all of the void years to regular years. Either way it saves us cap space this year.
  16. Only love puts a tear in your eye Only love makes you hypnotized Only love makes you choose Only love brings you the blues.
  17. Yeah, but because the rules say no more than 4 picks are actually awarded they only get the 3rd and 3 5ths.
  18. Yes. As long as the void was automatic and not a team or player option. And as long as the contract wasn't renegotiated to move the void to a sooner date, then he does count toward the formula.
  19. But if this world keeps right on turning For the better or the worse All he ever gets is older and around From the rocking of the cradle To the rolling of the hearse The going up was worth the coming down He's a poet He's a picker He's a prophet He's a pusher He's a pilgrim and a preacher and a problem when he's stoned He's a walkin' contradiction Partly truth and partly fiction Taking every wrong direction on his lonely way back home
  20. There is no shedding his cap hit by trading. They extended his contract last year in order to reduce huis cap hit last year. You know how that works? By taking money paid to him last year and prorating it over future years. Trading accelerates all that prorated cap to this year. In other words, keeping him costs us $12.4 million against the cap. Trading him costs us $25.2 million against the cap. Trading him would result in us losing $12.5 million in cap space, plus we wouldn't have him on the team anymore, so his replacement on the roster would cost us that much more. Next.

  22. Okay I try to refrain from the shameless bumps. But its been a few months, LOL. My book has been on Amazon for a year now. And while I can't say I'm getting rich it is fun to tell my friends that I have sales in 5 countries on 3 continents. Yes that's right, I'm a world-wide author. 🤣 I recently had a book signing event at a local bar/restaurant. It was a lot of fun and very cool as its local and a lot of the people know me. But the really neat part was seeing people I haven't seen in years who came out just to get their book signed. Some were even long-lost cousins. And at the end of the day, I had hit over $700 in sales (pats self on back). So I'm starting to believe people when they tell me it's a good read. Anyway I promise to make this the last shameless bump (at least in this thread🤣😎). But if any of you are interested, you can get it in hard cover or paperback. The ebook is only $3.99 (and can be read on any platform including your phone), and if you have Kindle Unlimited you can read it for free. If you do buy a copy I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I hope you like it. And if you do like it I hope you take a few moments to return to the Amazon site and leave me a positive review. All reviews add up and help sell books to perfect strangers. And they don't have to be long, drawn-out dissertations. If you just say "great book" or "I liked it" it helps just as much. Or if you say "it sucks, don't waste your money" well, that's the chance I take when putting it out there. Love you all just the same. Thanks for taking time to read my final shameless bump. Peace.🤩 https://www.amazon.com/DEADLY-POSSESSION-M-K-Danielson/dp/B0BW2RSL8L EDIT: Aw heck, I might as well go all-in with the bump. Here's a review left on Amazon by our very own Muppy - Muppy 5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it very much. Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2023 Verified Purchase This book has well developed characters and an intriguing creepy paranormal villain. He pops up unexpectantly and in very creepy ways. I hope that is enough info to entice you to buy this book. Based in WNY with a mixture of real and imagined locales. I found it very entertaining. I hope to read a sequel from this author. 5 stars***** And this one from Shaw66 - Shaw66 5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and exciting Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2023 Verified Purchase "Page turner" and "couldn't put it down" are cliches, but there just aren't better ways to describe Deadly Possession. Once I got just a few pages into it, I went back to it every chance I got. It's fundamentally a crime story with one supernatural character whose presence drives the plot. It's exciting and dramatic, page after page. As Danielson's characters encounter the supernatural presence, they respond realistically, with disbelief and confusion, and they make plausible decisions under extraordinary circumstances. The story races along, building to a dramatic conclusion that really works. I enjoyed it from start to finish. You don't believe in the supernatural? I don't, either. Just go with it; you won't be disappointed. And lastly, here's one from a complete stranger in the United Kingdom - love to read 5.0 out of 5 stars creepy bad guy Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 October 2023 wasn't sure what i would find in this book, but i really enjoyed it. the bad guy was creepy and i did not see the twists coming. Thanks again all!!
  23. Incorrect. The $3 million is money the player was already paid in a previous year, it just hasn't been charged to the team's cap yet. It was considered bonus money so the original team was able to pay him up front but prorate the cap charge for that bonus money into later years. When the years are voided the team is still charged the cap amount even though the player has already received the money. To put it another way, the team still owes the cap $3 million because in a previous year the player actually made $10 but the team was able to only have $7 million charged against the cap in that year. So now, even though the player is gone, or even if he's not, the team still has to have the $3 million charged to their cap. But the player has already been paid the money previously. That's why it's called dead cap. Not because they still owe the player who is gone, but because they already paid the player who is gone but haven't had that money charged to their cap yet. So no. If the player signs with the team for $7 million he only gets $7 million while the team's cap charge is $10 million - $7 million for the new contract and $3 million in "dead cap" for the previous bonus. If he signs with a new team for $10 million he gets $10 million from the new team. The old team still has the $3 million dead cap charge.
