  1. Not a football movie, but the football game in M*A*S*H was pretty good.
  2. My young one might just sh*t himself game day. The older one is a quiet, studious non-athlete but even he gets into football and the Bills. The real hero is Mom for being fully on board and actually pushing for both Wrigley and the Bills. She could care less about sports except she knows how the rest of the household feels. I don't want to subvert this thread, but a great young one story. We watched the 30 For 30 on the XFL and when it was over he told us he wanted a He Hate Me jersey for his birthday. Mom made that happen too.
  3. With regard to the posters who mentioned their sons interest/disinterest, this is a big year for me. Mine are 11 and 14 and full-on Bills fans, the young one more so than the older one. Coming up for the Broncos in September, it will be the first football game for both. Not wishing away the summer, in fact I'm looking forward to my/our first visit to Wrigley next week, but training camp means that we're that much closer! Go Bills!
  4. Cool that you're taking your son despite your ambivalence. I always despised my fathers "thats not music!" comments.
  5. Didn't Reagan have a quote that went went something like: "If Columbus had landed on the West Coast the Northeast would still be woods"
  6. They played in a shopping mall...nuff said.
  7. These might be past your travel tolerance but since you mentioned Maine, maybe not. These are all with a 2 1/2 year old in mind...that's a decade or so away so I could be out of touch. Lancaster, PA area - Dutch Wonderland (ooooold school amusement park catering to younguns) - Hershey Park (surprising number of kiddie rides plus a small zoo) - Strasburg railroad (might get lucky and get a Thomas the Tank Engine weekend) - Amish stuff (we never did this, but probably some cool stuff) - Gettysburg not too far away, but I doubt that's appealing for the youngun. Mystic CT - aquarium (Belugas!) - cool little seaport "town" - nearby is Essex CT with steam trains and possibly Thomas the Tank Engine - nearby is New London CT and submarine stuff Eastern PA - Sesame Place - Crayola Factory (Easton, PA)...honestly this was so/so for us...maybe my kids were cranky - Franklin Institute (kids museum) is great...Philly is a surprisingly good city - NJ aquarium (Hippos!)
  8. Thanks. I was salivating when I saw Nankers pix earlier. That's some good eating.
  9. I'm late to the party but first the Manero Mosh and now this? I'm not big on the cookie monster vocals, but one band that crushed it for me was Opeth on Ghost Reveries.
  10. Hitting the Great South Bay tomorrow on my friends boat in search of stripers.
  11. I cringed when I saw the thread title, but couldn't help myself and dropped in expecting the worst...sometimes I can't look away from the train wreck. Super cool story. Amazing how small the world can be sometimes.
  12. I still have my strategy football game. It's pretty beaten up but usable and to this day a great game. In my 40's I'd have epic, drunken matches with a friend on overnight ski trips.
  13. ' I used to get football jerseys from the Sears catalog. I remember getting an Oilers/Pastorini jersey because I liked the colors. Also got a Bills jacket somewhere around 5th grade through Sears. The elementary school football cognoscenti were impressed.
  14. I'll have my fun regulator wife with me so doubtful I'll get there early enough to get the rental in Hammer's Lot, but I'll make a point of taking the fam' for a walk-through. A few years ago I ran into the Pinto crew at the Meadowlands before I even knew of them!
  15. Broncos. It will be the first game for my two sons and only my third home game.
  16. Thanks for the assist. Just finalized plans for my first trip to Buffalo since 2000 and ended up in section 332, row 8 based in part on finding this thread and post.
  17. It sounds as if you may not be on board with radical vegetarianism. If so, don't let this linger. The two of you should talk this out over a nice steak dinner.
  18. This thread is like a sitcom clip show episode since Maclin left town. Nothing new but plenty of entertainment and re-hashed disagreements.
  19. This comment reminded me of a few years back when the Mets current GM held onto his young talent at the trade deadline instead of making a splashy move. Mets fans were rewarded with a World Series appearance a few years later that was based in large part on the young talent that was retained. I'm still in favor of bringing Maclin in, but it should be done on sensible terms. Won't be able to judge the FO on this until he signs somewhere, but they didn't make an impulsive offer despite moving quickly to bring him in for the visit. Both are encouraging signs to me.
  20. From the Bills point of view a 1 year deal would be consistent with some of their other moves: re-structuring TT making it more palatable to cut ties after the season, not picking up Sammy's option and trading down for the extra first rounder next year.
