I believe McDermott is breaking them in. The concentration was on the D Line. It’s like a horse race. Sprint to the first turn for positioning. The next chunk of the season culminates with the full bye week. Then a preseason game against Carolina, then Chiefs.. ending with the Thursday nighter Nov 20th against the Texans, a team that for whatever reason sorta has our number it feels like. Nice mini bye, and it’s Mack daddy go time with Steelers, Bengals, Pats. Eagles. Two byes because you’re resting starters week 18 and the wild card round. And you’re playing with your hair on fire for the last two games ever at Rich Stadium. Well maybe not McDermott. The hair.

Oh, and he sucks at everything that involves defense against the Chiefs in the playoffs. And he sucks at defense in a handful of other games during the season, like opening week. If it wasn’t for Josh, he’d struggle to take any team to the playoffs. All the things he’s successful at is for another thread. I think this is what the OP wanted to hear. I was promised by some here that he’s grown as a head coach when it comes to the areas he’s sucked at so far this season. Baltimore kicked our defense’s *** any way you look at it. Failure to challenge on multiple crucial plays so far in multiple games. And the timeouts at the end of the half vs Miami were ridiculous. Where are the positives in these three areas?? Oh yeah, injuries and suspensions on defense. But once those are behind us, we’ll be a reckoning ball on defense! (Even though that has never ever happened before, so there’s zero precedent to give any ration person the kind of hope that would make this season anything other than a Hold your breath that the timeouts, challenges, and defensive collapses don’t send us home early. Again.)

So what we’re saying is we don’t need Ray Davis anymore. He doesn’t do one thing better than Cook or Ty, and it’s a big enough drop off that there’s no need. As Ollie Gordon gets drafted in the 7th. Love to have some of that power from a back.

Bills can’t stretch a defense. Moore, and Samuel last year, always catching at the line. Palmer can go get loose. F’n send him, Josh! Need to at least present the threat. As nice as sharing the ball is, we almost purposely dump balls off just to spray the touches. And sometimes can’t get 10 when they need to. Also think the Davis run game will open up if Josh can push it downfield every so often.
