I loved Kelly, but I don't think there's any question at all that Allen is a better quarterback in every respect. (I don't count hardware, never have.)

Kelly was surrounded by HOF players,  I think maybe Diggs is the only HOF player Allen has had.  Comparing the two QB'S,  Allen bests Kelly in almost every category except making Super Bowls

Diggs seems to have lost "it" and there was the rumor of Diggs not being super happy as it is. Do you think its time to move on and look for someone more fitting?

I think the Bills need to move on,  he no longer does enough to overlook all the off the field distractions. How do you ignore his brother crapping on Allen on social media?  Then you could look back at all the playoff games and how little he offered including this past season.  Time to move on and take the cap hit while Allen is still in his prime

I never worry about Josh reloading every year with passion and motivation.  It's his teammates & coaches that let him down every year.  And obviously the main reason so many weren't as devastated this time around compared to 13 sec was the daunting injuries.

Yup and this is why they need to stop wasting picks or least high ones on the defence.  Spend high picks on offence and try to become the offence we had 3 seasons ago.  Just go out and score as many points as possible ,  don't leave games for chance until final few mins.

Yeah, I know, a couple weeks have passed, but that's partially the point.

"13 seconds" probably took me a full month to get over, particularly with Allen playing the perfect game, but still coming up short, etc.

This year, I thought I had digested the game after only a couple days; I thought it hurt exponentially less

The difference is, with this year's loss to KC, even though I did not obsess over it the way I did in 2021, when I did think about it, it would hurt more... and more... and more... as time went on.

That's because as time passed, it became more evident that this was an even greater missed opportunity than 2021.

    • We were at home against KC.
    • There was no Cincy in the playoffs.
    • We got uncharacteristic breaks during the game.  The Hardman fumble was something that never happened for the Bills.
    • We were in the best position to do exactly what you'd think we would want to do after spending two years waiting to have this opportunity again(!!!) We were doing precisely what we must have learned from "13 seconds" which is kill the clock and give Mahomes as little time as possible if/when he ever does get the ball again.   8 minutes remaining when we start the drive at our own 25, and before you know it, had it down to 2 minutes left at the KC 26.  Diggs is running by himself wide open for an easy catch that would almost certainly continue this pace, but Shakir is open in the end zone too, and that's the decision Allen would make in that moment. Writing that out is painful.  Ugh.   Anyway, it's old news, right?  Yeah, and that's the point.  As it becomes increasingly clear that we missed an even bigger opportunity, thinking back on this game is associated with an increasingly sh*t feeling as well.
    • And then, once the Ravens lost with apparently the "same old Lamar" it was very clear to me.

This should have been the year of the "Berman Special" (SF vs Buffalo).

It's a strange feeling, because, unlike 2021, it is not something I necessarily dwell on, but when it does come up and I flash back to the dreadful  2nd and 9 play, I want to go punch a wall.

It's also a strange feeling because, also unlike 2021, I am already looking forward to the next season with anticipation and excitement (in 2021, I wasn't ready yet, and I was turned off by all the hype and expectations for the Bills going into the year; I did not think it would help us at all).

Anyway, the real question is where does Allen go from here?  How did Allen take this loss in comparison with years past?  Does this add more fuel to the fire (like we all hope) so he works his ass off wanting a Super Bowl more than ever?  Or does this have some cumulative effect where it becomes exhausting after a while, after telling himself, "We are going to get better from this" over and over, only to find himself right back to where he started at the end of the day?  I get the impression that Diggs feels something like this.  And I really hope Allen never gets to that point, because we need him to be as hungry as ever.    Side note...let's get him that young dynamic WR in 2024.  Anticipation of a "rebooted" young offense is what has me amped up already for 2024  (something I did not feel nearly as much after 2021).

Basically...from my "fan" perspective, I now know this year has made me want it even more because it ultimately hurts more and also served as a reminder that our playoff window is always open, unlike last season where we got smacked around for four quarters and went into the off-season looking like a broken team which had people not only betting on the window being closed, but predicting the 2023 Bills would miss the playoffs altogether.

I just hope the Bills feel the same.  And I hope they use that feeling to drive them next season.  The loss to Cincy seemed to have an unhealthy residual effect on the team, but I hope this latest loss to KC just pisses everyone off.

100% and it sucks because this was the year or our second big opportunity,  Burrow went down and Chiefs's offence was not having a good year.  I have to question if it will ever happen with the AFC just loaded with great QB'S. I just really hope they understand it's scoring points and the offence that matters.  They got the explosive TE,  we now need to draft another WR in the first round.  Diggs is no longer #1 quality and just getting older.

With the Bills not learning and just giving Josh what he wants in the OC coach again, they need to find a QB coach that is going to get into Josh's brain.  A guy that has been around for a while, and isn't looking to baby Allen.

One guy I'm wondering if he will do it as a "favor", is Frank Reich.  He obviously doesn't need a job, but wondering if he would come back here to try and get us over the hump.

These last two hires at QB coach, Dorsey and Brady, have been young guys that were looking to eventually be head coaches.  We don't need to go in that direction again.

McDermott will never hire a big name assistant

We can, we just haven't yet.

Your opinion right now,  they have not got it done and this was huge missed opportunity.  You would think your 20 mllion dollar receiver would be able to close the game out and he drops perfectly thrown pass and then Allen just ignores him on underneath pass on final drive

Folks keep talking about Josh running out of time to win a championship.  Here’s a link to ages of all SB winning QBs:

Lots of older guys, some younger guys.  I think the average age is around 31.

So he’s got plenty of time.  He will likely not be as much the runner, but that’s OK.

Much better odds once they replace McDermott,  let's hope Terry does not wait too long.

I think the Bills should change coaches...but forgetting that for a minute....the Bills have put together 2 back to back really good draft classes, and even though they have some cap issues to work through this offseason, there is young talent in place.  If the Bills can put together another good class, then the window remains wide open.

Josh still has plenty of time, but with the cap hits now being big...the draft becomes more important.  No reason to think Beane can't get another good class this year.  Should be another good WR class.

Bills also looking to be in good position to win the east again next year...Miami suffering from CAP issues AND their QB can't lift the play of others around him....he has to have elite WR's, brilliant playcalling etc to have a shot.  Good teams are able to stop them.  I think they take a step back.  The Pats will suck again.  And I don't think 41 year old Rodgers has enough left in the tank to make the Jets anything better than a fringe playoff team.

The Bills will be right back knocking on the door again next year.

Bills need to add to the receiver room,  I think they are good on the line and maybe draft a center.

Are they really kicking our butts?

The games for all intents and purposes are essentially even every time we play them with multiple lead changes and a few plays here or there determining the winner and the game coming down to the final possession.

Unfortunately our victories have come in the regular season while theirs have come in the postseason.

To claim they are "kicking our butt" is not only not true, it borders on nonsensical.

We you lose you lose,  you don't get style points.  We can't beat them in the playoffs

The Bills have 58 players under contract (which includes the futures contracts just completed).  I suspect they will have to let Jones and possibly Sneed go as they both will command top money.  There are other key pieces to their top defense that are UFAs after this season.

They still have a lot of great young talent on that defence,  if they win Super Bowl he may want to move and sign his final big bag contract. The Bear have 46 million in cap space,  I could see them offering Jones huge contract

It is with a heavy heart that I have to let you all know the doctors can’t do anything more for my beautiful wife. She had a massive stroke on Saturday night (on top of the massive aneurysm on Friday night) and we have decided to remove her air tube on Wednesday morning.

This has taught me so much. First, how much I truly loved and depended on my wife. Second, how precious life is. Third, don’t say, do, or have actions that you might regret. Fourth, football is just a game.

We all love the Bills and have different ways that we think they need to go, but in the end, none of it matters. Hold tight the ones you love. Don’t sweat financial issues, stay close to your spouse, and just flat out do the very best you can.

    With love…Scott and Jill Whorley

Sorry to hear that , My deepest condolences Scott

You do realize that the Chiefs with that cap room have only 43 players under contract for 2024...and that does not include Chris Jones who is the heart of that defense.  Nor does it include Sneed at CB.  Granted...the Bills cap situation is worse, but I trust with the success of their recent drafts, they will get younger.

How many players do we have under contract?,  they could easily let Jones walk after winning 3rd Super Bowl.

Wait til they have to extend all those key first and second year players on D at the same time.

Right,  they could have another 2 Superbowls,  who cares they are kicking our butts and we have won nothing for all these crazy contracts Beanne has handed out

IDK cover1 had a pretty good break down of how Diggs stuggled the 2nd half of the season the last 3 or 4 years, under Daboll, Dorsey and Brady. Basically his best season here was complimented Beasely and Brown, a real field stretcher and a legit slot wideout. He's not a field stretcher, he's not great in man, he struggles when D's focus on him down the stretch etc. Obviously, this isn't madden football, but we need to make a significant upgrade as soon as it is possible and makes sense.

I read that Diggs was pissed off at FO because they did not try harder to sign Hopkins.  I believe he makes a huge difference and we don't need Sherfield or Harty's one game contribution against the Dolphins to clinch division and playoff spot.

28 million in cap space but a massive decision looming on Jones.  There’s a good chance that team regresses big time if they can’t lock him up he’s every bit as impactful as mahomes.

I really don’t think we got outcoached in this recent game honestly.   Bills were a drop away from beating the chiefs with freakin aj klein at linebacker 😂. Probably one of the biggest liabilities that was forced into action for any team this year. Pretty much a masterclass game by Brady they just couldn’t execute one big play out of a long list of attempts once kc had to creep up to stuff the running lanes

Reid absolutely pooped his pants with those timeouts before halftime gifting us 7 points…really wasn’t impressed with him at all in that one

I don't see because they have so many very good young players on rookie deals and their offence will improve during the offseason. Bills and Beane have uphill battle because cap and so many bad contracts
