    + Re-sign DQ.

Derrick Henry if he doesn’t sign with Ravens

    CB Jaylon Johnson?  only 24
We tried to acquire him at the trade deadline.

That would be super intriguing.  Benford or Rasul could move to Safety

I am not resigning DQ unless it's for cheap,  Bills got themselves into trouble by extending or resigning older players for more then they were worth.  He is 32 year old and maybe has 1-2 seasons left.

Dion is a pretty solid starting LT and had a very good year overall last season. He seems like a quality teammate.

    Should we Extend/Restructure or Trade?

    a few things:

the Bills like Ryan VanDemark. Do they like him enough to see him as a starting OT?

how much $ would we save by trading Dion?

what would his value be in a trade? I’d guess a 2nd Round pick.

I’m annoyed by his antics of running his mouth. Mahomes was obviously told by a Chiefs staffer that Dion said “good luck” winning here.  Mahomes won and posted “good luck” on IG.   Dawkins has now continued his antics by trash talking the entire Jets DL who will likely be way too fired up when we face them. & to top it off, Dawkins got shoved into Josh at the worst possible time in the Divisional

again on the other hand, the OL as a whole had their best season in a long time. So it does seem unlikely the starters wouldn’t all return

I doubt were getting much in return for him and Ryan VanDemark is not a starting left tackle.  Dion needs to shut his mouth an just play

Well that sucks, I wonder if he wanted out. He’s a starting caliber player.

At least they didn’t trade Rick Bates.

It was a great move,  you don't pay that kind of money for backups.

The legal tampering period starts the 11th and FA the 13th so he has a little time. And I know he said he plans on being under the cap by the end of next week.

But I have Football ADHD dang it!  Make some moves so we know what's what!! 🤣

Not sure what he plans on doing but I have full confidence he has this under control

I believe they do. IIRC, Brock Osweiler was such a deal.

He was packaged to Cleveland with a second for like a 4th rounder back under the condition Cleveland picked up the part of the cap hit.

I think Knox will become one of the worse contracts in the NFL, essentially Beane gave him star TE money and he is not a star. Not sure if you could get any team to bite on that contract.

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more dissatisfied I am that the Bills find themselves in the second worst cap situation in the league with exactly what to show for it.  The players understand that it’s a business, so make the hard decisions.  Belechick had a lot of faults as a GM, but he did understand the principle of releasing someone a year too early as opposed to a year too late.

Yes and not overpaying fringe players which the Bills seem to do more often than not. You don't pay Dawson Knox 14 million or Neal on special teams 3 million.

  7. The problem the Bills have is Beanne and giving guys these big contracts who are either too old or not stars.  Everyone talking about the White and Miller deals and what about the Dawson Knox contract with cap hits of 14 & 15 million over next 2 seasons. You can replace what you get from Dawson Knox with a 2nd or 3rd round pick.  He is not a star,  he drops passes and yet we pay him the same the Chiefs pay Kelce .

This is literally the smartest thing anyone has said yet - right on brother.

Everyone talking about "not a big deal" - this guy can flip the field but of course be content with 37 yarders in a playoff game.

The real truth is the Bills jumped the gun when the allegations came out, and he has no interest, especially when he can go to KC get a ring. If the Bills were so high and morality mighty, Von would have been gone the day after too, just like this kid, but the morality clause in his contract voided the $$ and his girl figured out real quick half of zero is zero... and recanted.

Need to start looking at the Bills without the homer glasses - they are built for "sustainability", Beane said so himself - sustainability is the word he has used over and over. A championship is not first priority, never was, or they would have sold the farm 2 years ago to do it – A winning record and filling seats, is just enough to keep interest and if a championship should happen then. all the better, but don’t believe for a second, it's about a championship.

The end of the day, we are out coached, out gunned and out rostered and the ONLY thing that keeps us in the W is 17 - without which, McD is a .500 coach at best.

Sorry - from an OG here and I don't post much but the more things chang, the more they stay the same - it literally is a rehash of the Kelly years

I just look at the Chiefs salary cap sheet and see so many players making 2 million or just over 1 million .  Beane has overpaid on many guys and it's a big reason why were always reworking deals to get under the cap.  Beane is very lucky that Pegula is willing to keep writing bonus checks because if this were Ralph Wilson he would be in deep trouble.  They need more cheap labour ,  they should have signed Matt after Sam Martin pulled his hamstring.  Martin played hurt because he did not want to risk losing his job. Beane and the Bills need to stop being so soft and do what is right.  I just hope they use one of they many lower picks to draft a punter

One more thought on Ariaza from a KC perspective (IMO)

I've seen some posts here knocking Araiza's lack of skill at directional punting/pinning teams in deep.

I would ask, If you are punting from your own 50 and you fail to pin it in, and it's a touchback...how many yards did you lose by failing to pin it deep?  The touchback puts it at the 25.  A returner may have fair caught it at the 10...maybe even the 15 if he doesn't see a return available..but lets say he fair catches at the 10 as most are taught to let anything inside the 10, just bounce.  That's 15 yards it's costing by having the punter fail to pin it deep.

Now ask if you are the same team punting from your own 25 and your punter blasts a 60 yard punt with hangtime.  Let's assume that the hangtime is good enough to compell a fair catch.  That's going to be around the opponents own 15-20 yard line...completey and utterly flip the field.

In both cases the other team is looking at a 75-80 yard drive.

I'll take the guy who can make the other team have to go 80 yards after I've had to punt from my own 25 yard line.

Sam Martin is not a punter with a strong leg and a big reason why the Bills special gave up some big returns last season was the lack of hang time.  Too many kicks were low line drives that gave returners a chance.  Martin needs to be replaced with a rookie or cheap labour and Beane needs to stop finding these retreads from other teams and just draft one in one of his many late round picks.  The Bills wasted too much money on Special teams last season and they were not very good.  A punter with a great leg fixes a lot of the problems

This is just another example of why the Chiefs are kicking everyone's rear including the Bills when he it comes to the salary cap.  That team has at least 30 plus players making 2 million of less and for next season.  The Chiefs have many guys making just above one million and this signing today will be another one.

Terry Pegula needs to start asking questions on why Beane has so many bad contracts and are always having to rework deals. There are guys on this team that I would cut right now,  Harty/Neal/Hines.

Anyone who does not agree then I suggest to look up the Chiefs cap situation on over the cap

And the rich get richer… Unreal. Dude is gonna punt the crap out of the ball and make everyone look dumb for not signing him sooner.

Chiefs keep winning because they are beating the Bills off the field,  the Chiefs have so many young players on low contracts and this will be another one. We had one of worse kicking tandems in the NFL.  Beane should have been all over this,  we drafted him and they get him. Someone said they have Townsend,  they will just not resign him because he is a free agent and why pay big money on a punter

Our mate from Kansas City that posts here did make a good point the other day…

Outside the QB … is there another superstar on this Bills team ?

KC has a couple …including Chris Jones who I think is the most valuable defensive player in the game at present …

They got 2 great CBs ( better than anything we got) … superior interior OL ( that handled Oliver with ease… ) and Kelce on the decline but still a big game winner …

Bills have got a lot of “above average “ players … but not too many game winners outside JA..

It's a great point,  I think outside of Mahomes,  Chris Jones is the most valuable player on that team.  When they need a play he usually gets it for them and did in the game against the Bills and in OT against the 49ers.  Bills do not have that kind of player o. either side of the ball

He also said that Beane hasn't built a Super Bowl-caliber roster yet.  Which I disagreed with, as his team - which is clearly SB caliber, as they won it - barely squeaked by a very beat-up Bills team in the playoffs.  I mean, if Diggs makes that catch, it's a very different game.  If Chris Jones gets there a half second later, it's a different game.  We were right there w/ KC - so how were we not SB caliber?

And I'd disagree a bit on superstars.  Diggs is a superstar.  I don't think he was healthy down the stretch.  Kincaid is a superstar in the making.  We have one of the better pass rushes in the league.  Our O-line is as good as it has been in the JA era.  Cook is easily a top 5 RB.

EDIT:  I completely forgot to add how much I enjoy KC fans coming here and Chiefsplaining to us why our team isn't good enough.

Kincaid is a superstar in the making which I fully agree,  as for Diggs show me one big playoff game were he exploded or took over.  He is good but not an elite star

2-3 month is not making or breaking him,  Allen is fine.  It's Beane that needs to do the work,  get Allen some speed or WR that can separate or a RB with breakaway speed.

Patience is a virtue.  That is not in dispute.
So it is arguable that the more patience one has the more virtuous one is being.
This poll is a test of your virtue.

    More undisputed facts:

    • Sean McDermott Bills head coach since 2017
    • The Bills have made the playoffs 6 of those 7 years
    • The Bill have not made it to the super bowl in any of those 7 years.
    • Only three NFL head coaches (Reid, Tomlin, Harbaugh) have been with their teams longer (all have coached Super Bowl champions in their career)
    • Two other coaches have the same number of years (McVay, Shanahan) Both have been to the Super Bowl twice. One has won a Super Bowl (weaker NFC)

Generally speaking teams in the NFL do not seem to be patient with coaches.  Teams have fired relatively recent super bowl winners (Pederson, Bellichek, Riveria for example). Teams have fired other coaches that made the playoffs numerous times.  Some teams have been more patient (Shottenheimer, Marvin Lewis, Dan Reeves spring to mind)

This poll is intended to record your level of virtue.  The bigger the number you pick, the more virtuous you are.

I think McDermott winning all those games to finish the year got him another season.  This looks like a mini reset season and the Bills have 10 picks to do it. One of the biggest problems the Bills and McDermott face is the AFC is just loaded with top QB'S.  I think if Buffalo was in the NFC right now they would have made it to the Super Bowl.

Right down to the ridiculous game changing ST turnover - just unbelievable

Inches from blocking long fFG and inches to hit the 49er player foot,  did the Chiefs lose anyone in this game?

Beane needs new way of thinking,  stop worrying about loading the defence.  Get the best offence in the league and just try and outscore them

I think bills chiefs games playoffs or not will be a tossup for a long time…the playoff sample size is just too small to make inferences on especially with one game being ridiculously close and another being very close.  If they were whoopin us like that early afc championship every time out I’d feel more hopeless

Unless Bliis get Allen some receivers and just tries to outscore them they will never beat Mahomes,  you can't play last possession game with Mahomes.  Even if Bass makes that FG you know Mahomes is going down the field for game winning FG.  Allen trying to score TD with 2 mins left was also not good.

Congrats that we let you off the ***** hook.

Allen should learn and see that you run on final drives at the game is on the line.  How many big plays on must drives did Mahomes kill them with runs? Now we will be listening for months how great Mahomes is and this was an off year for them.
