  1. I totally agree about Tight End. But great ones don't grow on trees. Even hard to find really good ones. How are we more than fine at WR with Brown and Beasley getting older? I think we get one more good year our of Beasley but I'm not at all confident in getting another good year out of Brown. I'd take an elite Tight End over a receiver if we can find one. But that's the tricky part.
  2. They have a lot more than we have though. That's the point. And we were still stoked on our receiving core this year.
  3. Even going back to his High School days Josh has pretty much always been a year behind his peers. I think next year could be the year he really dominates the regular season and earns that MVP. The Chiefs will still be a juggernaut so whether they will go all the way will depend a lot on what moves Beane can pull off this off-season. As much as I love Brown and Beasley both guys are on the wrong side of 30 and had injuries this year. I think we can count on one more solid season from Beasley but not sure about Brown. Also need some more height.
  4. Receiver or Tight End. Look at the teams competing in the super bowl this year. Each has not one but two elite receivers for each team. Beane is going to have to continue to work his magic. My nomination: Kenny Golladay. We have to check out his medicals coming off that hip injury but he'll only be 27 to start the season next year. At 6'4" he still has enough speed to take the top off the defense. A deep threat that has averaged nearly 17 yards per reception for his four year career. He'd play the Marquez Valdez-Scantling role in our offense. Would we be able to clear enough cap space to afford him? He's a candidate to be franchise tagged too if the Lions can't work out a deal. He'll likely earn the third highest WR contract in free agency this off-season behind Allen Robinson and Chris Godwin.
  5. I can't take over time. Give me the Tre White pick 6 to start the third quarter and get the blow out victory officially rolling.
  6. That was a LOSS, Hap. Looks like you have to go back to November 1st against the Jets.
  7. Funny that they are all DB's. Asante Samuel Jr. really surprised me because Asante Samuel is only 40. Surtain and Winfield seniors are 44 and 43 respectively.
  8. Asante Samuel Jr??? I thought Antoine Winfield Jr was bad enough. Man I'm getting old.
  9. Yep. I don't have an account over there on the Orange Mane but yeah, I've seen you beat those guys over the head about them passing on Allen. The way I see it, the Broncos just had terrible luck. That bad luck being terrible timing. Elway swung and missed massively twice on Oz and Lynch. Two big QB's, with perhaps underwhelming collegiate production and with athletic ability in the case of Lynch. But both were viewed as long term projects as Allen was. It would have taken massive balls for Elway to commit to a third prospect of this kind in Allen. The irony of it all of course is that Allen is probably the prototypical Elway QB prospect. And we learned that Elway's balls were not quite as large as we thought. Now you just need to work on chilling out your fellow Chiefs fans over at Chiefs Planet. So many posters over there feel threatened by the fact that Allen could possibly be on the same level as Mahomes. As you said, the Bills have done a bang up job on developing Josh. Not just working with him specifically but building good offensive personnel around him. Not a knock at Mahomes but Allen was not given a golden plate so to speak when he became the Bills starting QB like Mahomes was given from day 1. It seems many Chiefs fans and some in the media do not take this into account.
  10. Anyone thinking we pretty much utilize nearly the exact same game plan both on offense and defense as we did for week 6? Just add in a couple wrinkles. We held the Chiefs to 26 points for the game and to only 23 going into their final possession. Down only six with a chance to get the ball back and drive the field for the win. My thinking is we can't really do worst than we did on defense against the rush and we can't really have a worst offensive performance with only 206 total yards. Despite that it was less than a one score game with 4 and half minutes to go and we had them at their own 33 yard line staring down 3rd and 12. I guess if we were to change something up we would change up the offensive game plan to generate more yards. But I think Allen has progressed a lot since that game and would probably see the field a lot better both pre and post snap even with the same game plan.
  11. Allen over 50 rushing yards. Look for a similar performance as the Colts game on the ground from Allen. Hopefully no back to back QB runs around the edge though. Looking more for taking what the defense gives him on downfield coverage.
  12. I am a little concerned about Spags though. This is the dude that shut down the Patriots 2007 offense. K.C's defense is a pretty underrated unit overall. Similar to our Bills defense they seem to play well when it really matters. But I do have faith in Josh and Daboll. No way we have the same poor offensive showing we had back in week six.
  13. I agree. In this case Matthieu is nowhere near the back. Allen rolls left with the RB back as an outlet option. Force the one defender to either commit to the back or commit to Allen. This play is probably a moot point though because they will not leave the flats completely uncovered against a QB like Allen. The coverage will be different.
  14. If Lock is patient and knows the back is leaking out to the flat after chip blocking the read should be to the back. He easily has the five yards for the first down and potentially 20+ yards as there is only one defender even within 15 yards. I just don't see the Chiefs being able to play the same defense against Allen when it's only five yards to the sticks. They have nobody able to Cover Allen or a back in the flat.
  15. Oh I totally agree. But see my other post as well. Diggs is simply elite. Always running perfect routes and getting open. And he's tuff as nails. To your point Allen has consistently progressed from Day 1. I always post the half season splits for Allen. Allen: 2018 Games 1-6 61.8 rating 2018 Games 7-12 72.6 rating 2019 Games 13-20 82.9 rating 2019 Games 21-27 88.8 rating 2020 Games 29-36 102.4 rating 2020 Games 40-46 111.6 rating 2021 ??? He's been getting better from day 1. Before Brown and Beasley and before Diggs. But make no mistake. Having an elite receiver like Diggs takes a QB to the next level. Imagine Mahomes' numbers without Hill or Kelce.
  16. I think it is a little of both. Allen naturally progressing as a passer and Diggs making things easier and making big plays. Just off the top of my head I think all three TD's Diggs caught against the Patriots on MNF, I don't think we have another receiver on the roster that scores on those three plays. Not to say Allen wouldn't have eventually gotten us in the end zone on a couple of those drives but those were either tough catches (bouncing off the defender for one of them), great route running or great run after the catch ability. The should have been game winner against Arizona also comes to mind.
  17. It's funny too, to a lot of people's surprises, Brown, Beasley and Diggs all had career years with Allen as their QB. So as much as they have helped Allen, the same could be said of Allen helping their careers.
  18. He's had two all-pro caliber receivers on his roster since day 1. Allen had. Andre Holmes, Kelvin Benjamin, Robert Foster, Zay Jones and Charles Clay his first year. And the media thought he was one of the worst passing QB's ever. Second year, Allen's numbers improve greatly but getting rid of all those guys and adding more respectable receivers like Brown and Beasley. Not elite but good receivers. Third year, the Bills go out and get Allen an elite receiver in Diggs. And big surprise, with Diggs, Brown and Beasley Allen becomes elite. Allen has been trending in the right direction since day 1. He's physically more gifted than Mahomes and he appears to be just as football smart.
  19. This. It's not a coincidence that Allen became elite in his very first season playing with Diggs. Mahomes has played his entire career with two pass catchers as elite as Diggs. Those saying that Allen needs to repeat his elite season next year. I'd say: 1. True. 2. Is there anyway he doesn't? He's a lock for a 35-40+ total TD and 4,500+ yard season again. I know there is some fear of "one year wonders" like Wentz and Goff but I just don't see that happening with Allen. Not with the consistent improvement he's shown since day one and the elite physical traits he has. That higher ceiling is the key. It's why there is whispering among GM's that they would take Allen over Mahomes today, even with just one elite season to Mahomes three. This season Allen is playing pretty much exactly like Mahomes, a taller, faster and stronger Mahomes.
  20. I'd be interested in your breakdown of the Falcons game. That was really one that easily could of been an L for the Chiefs late in the game if the DB doesn't drop the pick in the end zone. It was more of a defensive game compared to the two Raider games.
  21. Mahomes has played his entire career with not one but two first team all pro talent receiving threats. If he was drafted by the Bills he would have been slinging the ball to Kelvin Benjamin, Andre Holmes, Zay Jones, Robert Foster and Charles Clay. How many of those dudes are even on rosters still let alone starting? Do you think he is a league MVP his first year starting throwing to those receivers? Allen's had exactly one season with a first team all pro caliber receiver. And he put up an MVP worthy season. The fact that he won't win the award doesn't take away from the fact that his stats this year are good enough to probably win the award perhaps 5 out of the last 10 seasons. So again, the very first year Allen gets one super star receiving threat (Mahomes has always had two) he basically becomes Mahomes and puts up Mahomes numbers. Is that just a coincidence? And that is with just one super star receiver to Mahomes two. And Kelce was already an all-pro tight end before Mahomes became the starter in KC. And Tyreek Hill, though not an all-pro had a pro-bowl year before Mahomes became the starter and it was clear he was on his way to becoming elite before Mahomes took over. Mahomes entered into the perfect situation in Kansas City. A team that was on the upswing and had already put together a string of four consecutive winning seasons under Andy Reid. And in his first season he was able to sit on the bench and watch the Alex Smith have the best year of his career while the Chiefs put together their 5th consecutive winning season. Mahomes took the team over from a QB that had a career year. Smith had a career year because the talent on that team was finally breaking out. The situation in Buffalo basically would have been a complete 180 had Mahomes been drafted by the Bills. Am I a biased Bills fans? Yes. But I also think I've laid out a heck of an argument as to why it's not a slam-dunk case that the Bills made a mistake in passing on Mahomes. You'll have to excuse Egg Man. His heart is larger than his brain.
  22. Mahomes become that starter in KC with all-pro caliber players in Kelce and Hill. In Buffalo he would have had an over weight Kelvin Benjamin, Andre Holmes, Charles Clay, Robert Foster and Zay Jones. I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. Mahomes would not have been the same player in Buffalo. He would be in a similar situation as Allen where is play gradually got better as the roster got better. Look at Allen as a perfect example too. Allen was already trending in the right direction in terms of his growth over his first two year but once we got him a legitimate receiver in Diggs he became a top three QB in the league. And that is with one all-pro caliber receiver. Mahomes has been playing with two all-pro receivers his entire career. And yes, I know Beasley made second team all-pro this year with one vote from Peter King (because King was looking at it from a slot receiver perspective) but I think the point still stands. Kelce and Hill is basically the equivalent of having two receivers the same caliber of Diggs. And Mahomes has had them since day one. Allen's only had Diggs this year.
