  1. The NFL is still wildly popular, more than ever before. So is college football. But they both run the risk of oversaturation. More games means each individual game is less important. More parity means the likelihood of two utterly mediocre teams meeting is higher. More bye weeks means weekends like this one where almost no game turns out to be worth watching. Thursday got assigned games we knew would be crap even months ahead of time.
  2. A little literary humor perhaps. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray
  3. I have an opinion. One based on fact. March 2020. A virus spreading like wildfire. Killing dozens in small towns in Northern Italy, then hundreds in large cities like NYC. A President who adopted a pass the buck strategy rather than a buck stops here take-charge man. First deny that it is happening. Expressing worries to his colleagues about how this may impact his reelection campaign/favorability rating.Calling for 15 days to stop the spread, then trying to punt everything to the states so their governors would take the blame. Waiting for a vaccine to take us out of this dreadful experience, and properly supporting efforts to accelerate vaccine development. Then trying to wish the virus away too soon, getting COVID himself, having trouble breathing, getting oxygen but trying to hide that, airlifted to a top hospital and given medications the ordinary man doesn't have access to, thereby overcoming his own infection. Complaining that the vaccine was held up; his supporters suggesting a deliberate slow roll by Pfizer so as not to let the benefit accrue to Trump. Then siding with nutty anti-vaxxers who called into question his own damn vaccine. A colossal failure to take charge in the only true moment of crisis his 4-year presidency brought him. Then finally, once he was safely back in Mar-a-Lago, watching him piss and moan nonstop about how the fates and the media conspired against him while the people in charge slowly, deliberately, got us out of that mess. Did they err on the side of caution? Absolutely. In retrospect were they too cautious on some things, like reopening schools? Of course. But all of that pales in comparison to the epic fail on the side of ignorance and self-interest that preceded it. The epic fail of Donald John Trump.
  4. I think they told me that because they were trying to coerce me into getting my DNA altered so that I would become a communist model worker. That is clearly the simplest (as in simpleton) explanation.
  5. Well, that's obvious too. He'd be softer on Russia and would do whatever he can to pull the plug on supporting Ukraine.
  6. Russia wants Trump to win. Iran wants Harris to win. Anyone disputing these two obvious facts is deluded, lying, or just plain not paying attention.
  7. Fat boy, we hardly knew ye.
  8. It's certainly delivering on what it promised.
  9. It's like the 1980s replacement player games.
  10. Plus I hear he's locker room poison.
  11. I love how Payton screwed them over before he left by demanding they re-sign Taysom Hill. Nix: best thing that could happen to the Broncos (who incredibly have playoff hopes) would be for Nix to hurt himself (a little) on one of those runs. I have a weird belief that Zach Wilson would actually play decently.
  12. That's Bo Nix so far this year which is why Payton usually doesn't let him throw beyond the LOS. Doesn't look scared like Nix.
  13. They'll only enjoy it if it's Deshaun Watson Memorial Stadium. By the way, awesome thread! I needed a few laughs. I'm watching Bo Nix and the Broncos.
  14. Derek Carr rockin' the eyeliner as a sideliner. This game gonna suck. We all know it. But I'm watching it anyway.
  15. She continues to dodge the mixing of the sand question, responding only that she was raised middle class. Trump confronts it head-on. He's a leader, she's a follower. So I watched a bit of Kamala on Fox. She did fine! If the point was to be feisty and to take on the other side where they live, she did exactly that. Won't convince any Fox regulars, but I take it that wasn't the point. It was service to her base.
  16. Born again Christians making fun of born once and baptized as a baby Christians never gets old. Kind of an edgier Garrison Keillor!
  17. This one manages to be offensive and incredibly unfunny all at once ... gotta hand it to The Bee and their special brand of born-again "humor." Edited so that JDHillFan can follow. Note how the Bee manages to seamlessly weave in "trans" in multiple jokes. #Funny The Babylon Bee has not only obtained the following list of Pope Francis's favorite Bible verses but exclusive commentary on each verse from the Holy Father himself: "I will not eat green eggs and ham, I do not like them, Sam I Am.": There are things in this life that are not pleasant. These are the green eggs and ham of our lives. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...": Never has the Holy Bible better described life in our world. "Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Workingmen of all countries unite!": This is what the gospel is all about. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner.": This is, of course, referring to the Christ child who was born in Bethlehem, never to be put off in a corner. "I was born this way.": Timeless truth from the Apostle Lady Gaga. "To be or not to be, that is the question.": It is important to answer the question of what we are to be… even if we are to be trans. When the man who says he speaks on behalf of God says these are his favorite verses, who are we to disagree? Don't pretend you didn't laugh. After all, The Bee is funny! That's the point of it. That's why we have 70 pages of their elite-level humor copied and pasted here. I'm a convert, and there's no zealot like the recent convert.
  18. Thank you for agreeing that The Pope is Ret@rded is some high-level humor. Anti-catholic religious right "humor" at its best!
  19. @Biden is Mentally Fit, here's Edgy Done Horribly Wrong, courtesy of that very same Babylon Bee. Check out #10 for a belly laugh, @B-Man! There have (apparently) been some pretty heated disagreements between Catholics and Protestants over the years. However, these two opposing camps of Christ-followers may be surprised to find out just how much they have in common! In an effort to bring about lasting peace throughout Christendom, The Babylon Bee has compiled the following list of things Catholics and Protestants agree on: 1. The Bible has between 66 and 73 books: We can all completely agree it's somewhere in that range. 2. Mary was definitely Jesus' mother: See? No arguments. 3. Jehovah's Witnesses are right out: There has to be a line somewhere. 4. Candy corn is gross: If you enjoy these waxy, orange wads of sugar, it's unlikely that you belong to the Body of Christ. 5. Adam and Eve really screwed the pooch: We're all on the same page, fam. 6. Jesus had a disciple named Peter who was fairly important in some way or another: And let's leave it at that. 7. Han shot first: Get out of here with your heathen "Special Edition" lies. 8. Killing babies is really bad: Same team, folks! 9. That C.S. Lewis guy is alright: The only guy who could make having the middle name "Staples" seem super cool. 10. Pope Francis is ret@rded: Right? See, there's still plenty of common ground between Protestants and those crazy Papists! https://babylonbee.com/news/were-not-so-different-10-things-catholics-and-protestants-actually-agree-on
  20. the whole Real Clear group turned unreliably partisan a few years ago. Sean Trende, their election analyst, used to be a great source of wisdom. I don't even know if he's there anymore. Lots of garbage now.
  21. ^^This hasn't aged well ... Hey, Donny, maybe we would make that stuff if we put a tariff on all imports! Why stop with stuff we already make? Are you going soft on tariffs? Did some big corporations get to you?
  22. You're right, the Biden asylum policies. If you want to see a court trying it's damnedest to help out Kamala, look to see where the lawsuit challenging those policies was filed. The judge is sitting on it till after the election.
  23. Obscure reference winner! (I only kinda get it because one of my kids used to listen to Muse)
