  1. How many not hormonally ready for combat XXs did you see flying in Top Gun 1? OK, well, then defund it. Congress has the power of the purse; Republicans have both Houses of Congress.
  2. Something something bag over head something ....
  3. You do compile throwaways like some kind of Mega Hoarder. Somehow I missed your "personal leave" from this board. Now what am I gonna do with all those avocados? Shame on me for believing Trump. My wife tells me that AI will make a recipe up just for you; just list the ingredients you have. Avocado + tomato + maple syrup + Canadian whiskey. I'll let you know if it's good.
  4. If USAID is bad, well, go ahead. Encourage Congress to defund/eliminate it. Republicans have both Houses of Congress and the President. Breaking the law by failing to execute the law of the land should not be an option.
  5. No, because Trump blinked. Markets open down almost 2%, suddenly a promise of 10,000 troops at the border (see my link above, it was 15,000 troops the last time around) with nothing really enforceable is sufficient to "delay" the 25% tariff
  6. Yep. That's the first one. What a wonderful idea. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2024-09-10/us-sovereign-wealth-fund-wouldn-t-be-like-norway-s-or-singapore-s?cmpid%3D=socialflow-twitter-view&utm_source=twitter&utm_content=view&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&utm_medium=social&sref=htOHjx5Y
  7. WTF? We are $35 trillion in debt. Where is that "sovereign wealth" gonna come from. Maybe we can sell more Treasuries (in other words: borrow it) and then spend it on something really good! Why isn't the government using leverage? Hell, why isn't the government owning more sh!t all by itself! We call that ... socialism!! https://www.city-journal.org/article/u-s-sovereign-wealth-fund-would-be-a-bad-idea A nice slush fund for whichever party is in charge.
  8. https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/24/americas/mexico-sends-15000-troops-to-us-mexico-border-intl/index.html deja vu all over again https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/24/americas/mexico-sends-15000-troops-to-us-mexico-border-intl/index.html deja vu all over again In 2019, the U.S. Border Patrol recorded 851,508 encounters with migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. This was the highest number of encounters since 2007
  9. I’m trying to show you that two million bucks doesn’t exactly get you a “mansion” in some cities.
  10. Oh, I agree. I never listed my pronouns. But then again my parents gave me an old fashioned man's name. Who am I to judge what the boys named Sage do?
  11. Here's hoping your employer doesn't decide to "renegotiate" your contract by immediately cutting your salary by 25% and then saying no worries, we'll have a new deal in place by 2026.
  12. Hey, I'm all for it! Let's be the New Norway. Sounds pretty nice!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_model#:~:text=The Nordic model has been, overall ease of doing business.
  13. Just poke around Zillow in NW DC. Took me a minute.
  14. Depends what your name is. I worked with a guy named Shannon. Now predominantly a girl's/women's name, but not always so. Let's call him Shannon Smith. He'd email people and they'd respond: "Ms. Smith ..." So he took to signing off on his email: "Mr. Shannon Smith." Which looked really stupid. Then he did that pronoun thing (he/him/his), not because he was woke (he really wasn't at all), but because then he'd get back "Dear Mr. Smith." So there.
  15. You need to get out more. Here's what nearly 3 million bucks gets you in a "leafy" (why do they always use that term? I've seen a lot of trailer parks in "leafy" areas) DC neighborhood. "Mansion" to you.
  16. Trump negotiated (well, had negotiated at his bidding) NAFTA 2.0. Now he is brazenly violating his own agreement. Negotiating does not include unilateral changes to the agreement that haven't been agreed upon.
  17. As you well know, Democrats tend to resist privatization. (Not always that way; it was Jimmy Carter's primary domestic achievement.) But it ought to be - and traditionally was - the knee-jerk reaction of Republicans when something related to a government function failed. Will it still be? Depends on if the Musk wing or the Bannon wing wins I guess.
  18. Seems like a sensible time for Trump/Vance to push for FAA privatization, no? Or are we going to waste the crisis by talking about DEI? https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2023-05-10/it-s-time-to-privatize-air-traffic-control
  19. Not to mention the war in Ukraine. Both "very easy" problems to fix.
  20. Hey, you do know that Kale will grow really well starting in March even in climates like WNY? Get on it! Victory Garden!! Who needs your damn avocados and limes and tequila anyway ... Kale chips, kale dip, charred cabbage, go local!
  21. I hate to say it, particular around here, but ... ... maybe Josh Allen is an All Time Great in the same way Lamar Jackson is an All Time Great? Or Donovan McNabb? I mean, they're all HOFers, but Joe Montana and John Elway are usually thought of as being in a higher tier of greatness than Jim Kelly and Dan Fouts ...
  22. Oh, that was advice for the hoi polloi. Nothing but freshly make guac for my tortilla chips. And they sell avocadoes so damn unripe that they actually keep well for longer than you realize. For you and your ilk: may I suggest what I will call All-(North) American "Freedom Guac" https://cookieandkate.com/kale-guacamole-recipe/
  23. Depends what you call "elite." I would consider that term to apply to the top 5 (QBs, RBs) or top 10 (WRs, CBs, etc.) at his position. So Josh is a no doubter. I think Benford stepped up into that category this year. The others? Very good players, but you gotta leave room for the Saquons before you put a guy like Cook in there.
