  1. I think it would be great to get a good big wide out but I think at this point that would be a luxury more than a need. You have to fix the offensive line and the defense first. I would fix the line and defense and hope that a couple of the young receivers step up this season. If they don't you can draft a great wide out next year.
  2. FireChan- When Darieus and Glenn want contracts, what makes you think the Bills will give it to them? What makes you think the Front office won't let them walk like they did with Levitre and now Byrd?? I'll tell you right now "IF" Glenn becomes one of the top tackles in the league he will want a contract that is off the charts Don't you think he will demand what he is worth? The Bill could find themselves in he same situation they are in now with Byrd. If they keep letting great players, that are in their prime walk, they will always be a 6 ad 10 team. You can take that to the bank.
  3. Carpenter's system worked well for guys like Jack Kemp, Billy Shaw, Tom Sestak, and Jim Dunaway but it's too out dated for todays players.
  4. When Russ Brandon took over he said the Bills will do anything to improve the team including free agency. We'll see if he is a snake oil salesman of if he stays true to his word. Time will tell. I myself think he's a snake oil salesman and they won't sign Byrd. I think it's the same old, same old Bills. Develop players and then let them walk because they want to get paid what they are worth. That's been the past practice here and I don't see it changing. The Bills are like a farm system for the rest of the NFL. Draft them, develop them, and then let other teams stock up on good players. Then they wonder why the haven't been a contender for 14 years in a row. Bills fans are all going to heaven, they have suffered enough being Bills fans.
  5. Byrd won't sign with the Bills. He wants out and will take less money from a contending team. The guy is sick of losing and wants to have a chance to play in the post season and maybe even a super bowl. He knows he will never get that opportunity in Buffalo. He's a great player and great players want to win. I can't say I blame him. Losing year in and year out has to take it's toll on your mental attitude. After being on a loser his entire career he probably can't take anymore.
  6. Who's Chris Brown? Isn't he the spokesman for "hair club for men"?
  7. Dr Trooth - God has blessed you by getting you out of Buffalow. I hope you gave the Lord thanks and praise. Anyway what I am here to tell you is even though the Steelers stink right now, ALL TEAMS rebuild faster than the BuffaLOW Bills. The BIlls have been rebuilding since Jim Kelly still had HAIR!!! Maybe you're old enough to remember how long ago that was. Well the bottom line is the Bills and the Steelers both STANK, but at least you can be assured the Steelers will become a contender a lot sooner than the Bills
  8. They're signing more early August cuts. Camp bodies for the vets to beat up on and hopefully gain confidence. Yeah WEO I think you're right. It would be a lot less risky and the odds of it paying off would be a lot greater.
  9. It's non football related. He's getting breast implants.
  10. Jerry Jones toupee - I'll tell you what the Bills got in the Marshawn Lynch trade. The answer is "HOSED" They got hosed.
  11. I'm not arguing with you. You have valid points, many I agree with. My intention is NOT to argue but just to state my opinion that the Pats deserve credit. Besides that, I'm NOT a die hard Pats fan. I just love good football no matter what team it is. In fact I may have my heart broken today as my favorite team is Carolina. San Fran and Kapernick are super tough but I'll be rooting for Carolina none the less.
  12. Mrags - surely you jest when you ask about Belichick being mediocre in New England. He was mediocre his first year in New England, going 5 and 11. He had just inherited a lousy team and had not yet put his stamp on it. He had evaluate what he had and build accordingly. It takes that first year for a coach to completely analyze the team and figure what he has to do to make them successful. His second year with them he WON a SUPER BOWL. You can't do any better than winning the big game. I mean you know how hard it is and what an accomplishment it is to be the best team in the league and world champion?? It's not easy. For example, look at the Bills e, they have been in the league 53 years and have NEVER won a super bowl. That's over a half century without a world champ title. Old Billy has THREE world titles just as a head coach, that's not even counting his super bowl victories as a def. coordinator. As far as being mediocre with the Browns? You have to look no further than the owner. When have the Browns ever let a coach run the show? The Browns organization is a joke. The are perennial losers. If a coach has to fight the owner he can't succeed. Ralph is a perfect example of that. Polian was building dynasty until Ralph interfered by brnging in Littman and Overdork. He stripped Polian of his complete control and Polian walked. We all know how successful Polian was when he left here. Polian knew no team can be good if they don't let he football people control the football operations. When bean counters step in it always leads to disaster. That's why when Polian left he said, "Bills fans cherish this team, you will NEVER see another one like it." Man that was over 20 years ago and boy was he telling the truth.
  13. MrRags - In your list of defenses that dominated you listed the Giants over the Bills. Do you know who the mastermind of that defense was?? None other than Bill Belichick. He was Parcel's defensive coordinator and he's the one who came out with the two man line to stop the no huddle. The guy was genious because the Bills were a hundred times better than the Giants in 1990. They Bills had 11 pro bowlers and the Giants were playing with their 2nd string quarterback. If Belichick didn't come out with that two man line the Bills would have blown NY out of the stadium, 52 to 21. The Bills had that much more talent.
  14. Smears _ realistically, down deep you don't even believe what you say. But I can see how you would grasp at straws and want to believe it . Getting completely dominated by another team for a decade and a half has to make you feel totally frustrated and helpless. Do you realize high school seniors were still in diapers the last time the Bills could compete with the Patriots?? They weren't even in kindergarten yet. Man that's a LONG, LONG, LONG time!
  15. ColdBlueNorth - Belichick always stays one step ahead of the other teams, especially the ones in his division. He knows you have to win division games if you want to make the post season. He knows the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins are trying to build their teams to beat the Pats. No one could stop Brady so the other teams started to build their teams to stop the pass. So what does old Billy do, he changes them from a passing team to a running team. He brings in good backs like Blount and Riddley and runs all over his competitors. The rest of the division build their teams to stop the pass and now he is running all over them. Now they will all have to start over and go into another rebuild to stop the run. Then you know what he is going to do? He will go out and get recievers and go back to being a passing team. He will always stay a step ahead. He's just too smart.
  16. papazoid - You got that right. With the new rules where a DB can't even sneeze on wide out without getting penalized it definitely favors the passing game. A good quarterback can carve up a defense with rules in his favor. In the olden days it was the old cliché, run and stop the run. Not anymore. A running team has to work it's tail off to complete a long 6 minute drive without making a mistake to kill the drive. Then a great quarterback comes in and hits one long bomb and the score is tied. But obviously the best way is to have a good running game combined with a good passing game. If you have that kind of balance it's pretty hard to beat.
  17. Both. You can't fill all of your holes with just one. You don't get enough high draft picks and you can't afford to fill them all with expensive free agents. You need a smart GM who knows how to blend the two properly. Not saying I'm right it's just my opinion on how I would to do it.
  18. I think you're right, it wasn't Marv it was probably Parcels. Marv used to say, "where would you rather be than right here right now" Sorry, my bad. You're right about playoff hockey. I think it's the playoff atmosphere that makes any sport more exciting. One of the few sports I don't care for is basketball. I never watch basketball during the regular season. But once the playoffs begin I do watch them.
  19. You hit the nail on the head Pneumonic. Spikes is a flake and Billy won't tolerate guys who are not team players.. Spikes played his way out of New England with his attitude. The other thing going against Spikes is although he is good run defender he is an absolute liability in pass coverage. He is one of the worst coverage linebackers in the NFL. Belichick doesn't keep one dimensional players. He wants players that can excel at stopping the run AND covering the pass. Belichick wants to upgrade that position and he will replace Spikes either in the draft or free agency.
  20. Playoff football, it doesn't get any better than this. I love it when the post season gets here. I wait all season for this. No more boring games like some are in the regular season. The intensity level goes through the roof. You can feel the intensity in the air. The players are pumped, the fans are pumped, and the hitting is border line bone crushing. All the junk teams are home where they belong watching on TV. The only teams left are the best of the best. All the money is on the line and there is no tomorrow, loser goes home. Playoff football is here and the excitement is a back. Let's go baby, let the games begin. Marv Levy used to tell the players before the first playoff game, "This is why you lifted all those weights"
  21. My Bills offense would require pulling off a few MIRACLE trades. I'd have Brady at QB, Marshawn Lynch at running back, Megatron, AJ Greem. and T.Y. Hilton as my recievers, Jimmy Graham at tight end, and the Patriots offensive line. What do you think? I wouldn't even need a defense. I could put a high school defense out there because they would only have to stop the other team on one series.
  22. Utah Joe it would be hard to argue against your post. I also think it's very, very hard to go into someone else's stadium and win, especially in the post season. I think home field is even more of an advantage in the playoffs than it is in the regular season. Fans are pumped up for the playoffs and will be louder than in the regular season. If any team has a chance to do it, it would be New England. They have a ton of playoff experience and if anyone can win on the road I think it would be them. In Denver I think it's a toss up. If the game was in New England I would mortgage the house and put it all on the Pats.
  23. Chandler81 - Dan Dierdorf may or may not be a good announcer. That's an opinion and it's hard to prove or disprove. But to say he was a lousy player is way off base. The guy made the pro bowl SIX times and he's in the Hall of Fame. You have to be pretty good to get into the Hall of Fame. Especially for an offensive lineman because they don't have stats to back them up like running backs, receivers, and quarterbacks do.
  24. I totally agree with the posters that think Crossman should be fired. But I would also send the offensive line coach with him. When they got rid of Joe D from Chan's staff that was a HUGE mistake. They should have retained him. Our line was TWICE as good when Joe D was here. If I were Marrone I would give pink slips to Crossman, Hackett, and the Offensive line coach. I can't believe there aren't more posters complaining about Hackett, he really stunk up the joint. His play calling was bush league. Every 1st down call was the same, handoff up the middle.
