Now that the draft is over, my top UDFAs

    Beau Bease S Maryland

    Dallin Holker TE CSU

    Javion Cohen OG Miami

    Gabriel Murphy DE UCLA

    Jalen Coker WR Holy Cross

    Dillon Johnson RB Washington

Frank Gore Jr RB Sothern Miss

    Willie Drew CB Virginia State

    Dwifht McGlothern CB Arkansas

Obviously I agree on the top 3 given I had draftable grades on them all. Like Murphy (I actually like the other Murphy twin too who I thought actually played better at the Shrine game) but think they are probably better fits for 3-4 teams. Coker is worth a punt. I'd forgotten about him. Not sure he is more than a PS guy but definitely worth giving a try.

  2. Conclusion - there are no UDFA WRs to get excited about. There is one guy on that list and he sucks.

Beau Brady I feel for. He tested poorly and probably ia sub optimal athletically for the NFL. But the kid can play. Hope he gets a shot somewhere. He will compete his ass off.

I'm more surprised by Gabe Hall going unlocked.

Taylor reportedly BOMBED the Pre-Draft process. I was hearing of him careening down Draft boards weeks ahead of the Draft.

Gabe Hall flat out gave up in two games this year. That is why he didn't get drafted. I never thought he was draftable. Tries when he fancies it. Talented but a quitter.

It was the previous two years too

The last three years though the roster has been deep. It has lacked top end talent compared to the other top half dozen teams we have been competing with but it has been deep. It is why despite two years of pretty rotten injury luck they've still won a ton of games. The moves they had to make this offseason mean they are as shallow as they have been since 2018 and still lack that top end talent. I do think they have some good young players, I think they hit on some guys in the last two drafts.... Cook, Bernard, Benford, Kincaid, Torrence and Shakir but they are all (as we were discussing earlier) in the category of "good" at this point and they need to hope 1 or 2 of that group step up to be true difference makers. But they are going to be young, shallow and lacking in difference makers in 2024 unless someone has a significant breakout. They will just be hoping that by the end of next season we are adding Coleman, Bishop and Van-Pran to that list of good young players.

I think they will see success in 2024 as the development of all those guys and making the post season. They do not think 2024 is a Superbowl contending season. That said, Kansas City didn't expect 2022 to be a Superbowl contending season in the building - they were re-setting some things and then they got hot at the right time and went all the way. When you have a top flight QB you always have a chance but I think we'd need Josh to have the best season of his career to have a shot.

It tells me the regime is pretty safe with Terry. Because this is clearly a two year re-load plan IMO to have 2025 be the year that the second Josh Allen window opens.

  5. KT Leveston is an interesting late round guy. Just gone to the Rams. College tackle, likely goes inside in the NFL.

How many receivers are the Chargers gonna take??

I actually checked back I have done 4 before in 2021..... But still good to get down to that number.

    Lazy comparisons

The Moss - Davis comparison is not lazy IMO. There are a lot of similarities. They are both low centre of gravity, contact runners who want to run between the tackles and are suited to gap schemes that encourage them to get downhill. But if the point of this post is to argue Beane should value speed more then it should be pointed out that the biggest difference between them is Davis is decidedly faster and that shows up on tape.

Alec Anderson too. Like Gonzo said above if Grable can show enough versatility to cover both tackle spots maybe he can get one. But the Bills have two years invested in developing in RVD and Anderson.

Ah yea forgot Anderson. I think they like him. Personally I wouldn't keep Collins, certainly not to play tackle, he just moves too slowly post all the injuries to play out there IMO. If they wanted to try him at guard I'd be fine with it. Unless Grable looks a mess in camp and pre-season they have to find a way to keep him IMO. Invest a year into developing him and give yourself a baseline option in case Brown walks.

Yea I’m not sure the numbers game will be in his favor for the 53. Was a QB and then a tight end. Has good tools to develop if we can hang onto him

It's gonna be a tough road but could they not do:

Dawkins, Brown, Van Demark, Collins, Grable

    McGovern, Torrence, Edwards, Van-Pran

With Collins having some flex to play guard too?

I know they signed Will Clapp and they have Doyle coming back from his 103rd injury but Beane could always do one of his fliperoos for a day 3 pick for one of those guys in camp.

  9. I actually don't mind that. Grable had a really good week at the Shrine Bowl in the practices. He didn't stand out to me in the game and I never got back around to his tape, but I spoke to a guy who was there that week and picked him out. He is their type as well, high RAS, athletic but raw. If I am correct I believe he is a converted tight end. Hope they can sneak him onto the 53 because I think he would get stolen off the PS.
