So much for the National Weather Service
Orlando Buffalo replied to Roundybout's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The last time I assumed someone on this site was being sarcastic I was wrong, so I am unsure how to to reply. The job is to collect data, at this point it is not done by hand it is done by automatic computer data being sent to a main "warehouse". How do you think they do the data collection? -
California (again)

Does anyone in California ever learn anymore? I bet she wins in a landslide. -

In about 2010 the NWS or NOAA was warning that by 2025 that snow would be rare in the Continental USA, while in actual 2025 my son in Tallahassee FL was snowed in for week this year. -

. NOAA has 15 boats, with no more than 36 people per boat. That is about 500 people, but good job showing me you have no idea what are are speaking about. BTW I do not think NOAA or NWS should disappear just be made smaller. https://www.omao.noaa.gov/marine-operations/ships-noaa#:~:text=NOAA -

Got it, so your answer is they do a good job of data collection, which I agree with, but that does not require anymore than 1000 employees at most. After they collect data, what does the rest of the people do that insurance companies don't do? -

Are you asking me or admitting you have no idea? Please inform me what they do that is useful that insurance companies don't do with teams of less than 200 each? -

I didn't mention Trump, you did. I didn't mention liberals, you did. You also did not negate any of point, unless you think it takes 8000 people to run a computer simulation. My point is about efficiency and usefulness, and your analogy is proof you are disingenuous because you can't make that analogy and not approve of DOGE. -

This thread is the dividing line of people who believe that government jobs are meant to be forever and those who believe it must provide a service to the tax payers. No reasonable person can argue that we need 12000 people to tell the weather and make the simple predictions they do, especially when most of work is now down by computer models. We also have at least 5 private weather services that do similar jobs with a fraction of the people. -
It is amazing that I never called him a dictator but you called him an "iffy" one. My argument has always been, while Putin is worse, the Ukraine is a corrupt country who is not going to win the war without US troops on the ground. These two things are enough reason to have stopped the war two years ago.

Making jokes is what I do when someone calls cutting government jobs, "commie". I feel a little bad I hurt your feelings but your understanding of the word needs work -

Yesterday in class I had a kid ask me for gum, which I declined stating I did not have enough for everyone, to which he countered no one else would ask. I immediately looked at his two friends in class who stated they want gum also just to mess with him. I don't think you know what that word means at all. I am not even sure you know who Trump is at this point. -
NFL to use electronic measuring in 2025
Orlando Buffalo replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
This change is for one reason, anyone who saw the play knows that Josh got the first by at least the length of the football and the only people on the planet too stupid to fix it were the refs. Also, just to anyone who thinks this will fix it for sure, the premiership of soccer still screws it up royally on occasion and sometimes in manners that are just as stupifying. -
NFL Combine Thread: 1 (PK, DL & LB's)
Orlando Buffalo replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only position I really care about- big fat DT- who looked good but not top 15 good? I am thinking we might trade up to about 20 to get our guy if possible. -
Who was the Bills next best edge rusher after Bruce?
Orlando Buffalo replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought this was a joke but looked it up and realized that I don't know all the great players on our teams in the 1960s if I did not know him. -
UFL to end traditional onside kicks
Orlando Buffalo replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I definitely prefer the 4th and 15 to the current version of onside, because the likelihood of injury is too high on the onside kicks, ala Benford. I really don't like the idea of the officials being flag happy but they already can't spot a ball that clearly made the line so is this really that big a deal
