  1. https://www.yahoo.com/news/should-schools-get-rid-of-programs-for-gifted-students-134930982.html This article is the so full of crap and is the definition of the leftist mentality that stunt the better people so the lesser people feel better about themselves. It has one especially insidious line "Many experts also say there is very little research to back up claims that separating advanced students from their peers helps either group. In fact, they argue that doing so causes harm to both groups." there is a ton of research that separating them is beneficial to both sides but all of it is limited individually but in totality it is overwhelmingly I'm favor of it. It is why Florida passed NY a long time ago in minorities performing on the AP exams and other advanced classes. NYC is aiming for mediocrity for all
  2. I think we often when pissed will say it is intentional when we know it is incompetence, I know I say it Sunday but by Monday know they just suck. The issue is simply that inconsistency is going to favor one team or the other based on things that are not rule based. For example in the Pitt game one of the hold calls came because the Dlinemen threw his hands up, even though he was not held. The ability to manipulate officials that way should not happen. Also most officials are 60+ years old and can not get into position to make proper calls therefore rely on other indicators of fouls. NFL can fix it but choose not to.
  3. It actually needs to be a combo of people in booth only doing the safety calls( targeting, facemask, horse collar) and the guys on field handling the pass interference and holding type calls. If they only have to call a few items they should do better
  4. Your overall point is valid but the officials last were particularly awful, and inconsistent. The fact that was the SuperBowl crew says so much about how bad the NFL officiating has become.

  6. The Seminole tribe helped create the FSU chant, chop and mascot design. The fact that others comment on it without any clue of it's origin is pretty sad.
  7. It is nice to have my two biggest complaints be the refs- who were horrendous all around- and Collinsworth- who is unaware that Buffalo is playing much better than KC. The Bills did what they could last and it was beautiful.
  8. If you have a Roku tv and just want sports on your tv I recommend fubo. It is very easy to use, and I plan to cancel right after football season. Much cheaper than dish and you can cancel when you want.
  9. Are you stating that you think the vaccine should be mandatory for everyone who is eligible? I might have missed something in a transition
  10. Just read that a kid named Manuel Porties died during "mutual combat" when the other dude grabbed a knife and stabbed him. When you start out with fists it is no longer mutual when one brings out a weapon.
  11. https://www.yahoo.com/news/meet-57-old-dad-104-100000220.html All of the articles say the same thing, "I owed my kid the best", "it was too easy", " the loan is making my life hard". All of the problems brought because some people could not get financing for $50k a year schools in 2010-2012, and the Obama administration fixed that. Instead of pushing adults to be more responsible they made it easier to go further into debt.
  12. We have turned people into two camps- fully trusting of our government or antivaxxer. I am a vaccinated anti vaxxer then.
  13. https://www.wtxl.com/news/local-news/ag-commissioner-nikki-fried-releases-school-covid-19-data This is what it will take to defeat DeSantis, completely cherry picking data with no reference to overall trend. Nikki used only half of the counties and then only the pieces that could be manipulated.
  14. Well growing up in NY we had as snow storm one Halloween so that put a damper on it but otherwise you are of course correct.
  15. https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/09/health/halloween-2021-safety-dr-wen-wellness/index.html Unless your child has a major health issue, which would include obesity, then trick or treating outside is as safe this year for your child as any year in the past. Anyone who say otherwise is being paranoid or is a liar
  16. In Florida I believe all schools are open- I wish we had it off.
  17. this is horrifying. A mother using her child's condition to push a political point that should not matter to her daughter. If her daughter is immunocompromised she should not be sending her to school period. Every county in Florida has specific programs to deal with children like her. I truly feel for the child but this mother needs to more honest with the kid.
  18. Once again- the chances of my healthy son having a major case of Covid is less than the norm for those under 25, so if the the normal amount is one in 200,000( your numbers) his is most likely one in a million or less. So I am making the informed decision not to have him take a vaccine without a long term study to protect others who should be protecting themselves. At least you realize that the variants are not going to ever stop, vaccine or no vaccine
  19. I was not comparing equal damage, being from Covid and Vaccine. My comparison is the 1% chance that the vaccine will cause him to miss school due to cold like/flu like symptoms vs the .0005 chance of major issues from Covid itself. I also will repeat that those 4000 are most likely unhealthy in some way, where my kid is extremely healthy except for minor skin issues.
  20. The fact that you think this vaccine will matter in the long term variants of Covid means you are not a big picture guy at all. Also my son has a much higher chance of the vaccine causing him issues than he does of Covid causing any long term problems.
  21. The number of deaths of younger than 40 who are healthy are extremely low. With any illness there is a chance of bad things happening. We would not be having this discussion if the rate of death was the healthy under 40 rate.
  22. No- those words are simply to point out at that the risk from Covid, besides age, is all unhealthy behaviors.
  23. I have seen several comments that the only people against the vaccine mandate are Americans. This is simply not true so I linked to three international stories https://apnews.com/article/europe-business-health-coronavirus-pandemic-8a27d8a9cbfad3789e0fca8e24daaef4 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/09/21/world/australia/australia-melbourne-vaccine-mandate-protest.amp.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/nationalpost.com/news/canada/england-will-scrap-vaccine-passports-in-bid-for-massive-vaccine-boost/wcm/eeb8a57a-c670-4a28-b803-a74709976bc4/amp/
  24. I have already been vaccinated, as I have stated many times, but when you are telling me my 16 year old son needs to get it in order protect 70 year old who never took care of themselves I do get pissed since we do not have even a 5 year study mich less a truly long term study on the effects. I also understand a business like a hospital pushing the vaccine, but it still should not be mandatory.
  25. That is well done- you now state that since vaccines are not useless we should all be forced to get it. If something helps the majority everyone should be required to do it.
