  1. That just means a large amount of local residents watch the Bills games. It does not mean we have a large market. We are a small market. The NFL would not be what it is if all the cities with teams were the market size of Buffalo.
  2. Not sure too many people would notice or care if NYS doesn't have a team. As far as the league is concerned, regarding exposure, ratings...., the Giants and the Jets accomplish what they need even though the stadium is in NJ. They are huge market teams. Buffalo, regardless of being in NYS is small potatoes when it comes to marketing. Harrumph
  3. How can Wilson settle the ownership situation? It is settled now, he is the owner.
  4. I'm sure there are good reasons why they don't. If that's truly the case. Obviously, they just signed Aaron Williams to an extension. You need two to tango and some players like Levitre, Byrd... might want to test free agency to see if they can get more money. Also, many of these players probably wouldn't mind playing somewhere other than Buffalo. I think a lot of fans think that this is a way to save money by signing them early but I can't imagine agents would still not try to maximize the players value. Look what Williams got, hardly a bargain for the Bills. he had already returned from his injury and finished the season healthy. So not really a risk on San Diego's part.
  5. He cares, and that's pretty much all that matters. Can't force him to sign a contract with us. Jim Kelly didn't play for us his first 2 years of pro ball, only played when he had no other options.
  6. I don't think he wants to screw over the Bills, he just doesn't want to play in Buffalo. If you really think about it, can you blame him?
  7. Good points, I don't understand how fans value players, let alone wonder why we even care what the team spend. Get and keep top players and let the team worry about the money. We as fans don't have near enough knowledge of what the plans of the team are in regards to personnel and cap strategy long term. Just sit back and hope they keep the right players, like Byrd. And please can people stop with the silly trade proposals. I wonder if a fan ever actually predicted a trade that really happened.
  8. I agree right now Williams doesn't offer the same skill set as Byrd. But I think many fans aren't looking at the whole picture when they want the Bills to sign a player before his contract is up in order to lock him in at a better price, why would, in this case, Williams sign a deal now knowing he has a chance for a much larger payday in a year or 2? We may be able to sign him early , but don't expect a discount.
  9. If they can't sign Byrd, I wouldn't imaging they would sign Williams to a deal similar to what Byrd is seeking, should Williams rise to that level of play. They need to sign Byrd, deal with Williams if and when, a lot of things will change by then.
  10. I'm a fan of Chandler, I don't know of many 'huge' mistakes and not sure what you mean by limited athletically - seems pretty damn athletic to me. How can his production be easily replaced by Moeaki, based on what? Chandler definitely had a few drops last year, but also make a large contribution by leading the team in receptions. You have to have athletic ability to contribute like that.
  11. Another question is , who do we replace him with. Even in an off year it's a significant number of catches to replace. I remember some GM years ago saying, you don't get rid of players, you replace players.
  12. I remember him as being not very good, but looking back is was more likely that the team stunk back then. I recall the strong arm, but even though he had brisco, moses and I think JD Hill, still not a good team overall. Had some success after he left.
  13. I'm not sure if he's a good coach or not, but I will take Stafford like production from Manuel
  14. I don't think anyone really expected him to be here long term, so in that aspect it might be easier to deal with him leaving. To look at the positive side, there are a great many highly qualified coaches out there and we just need to find the right fit. We have good players and we should have better ones next year. Good organizations can handle situations like this, it's a big test for the Bills.
  15. I'm not sure multiple interviews for a HC position is 'getting strung along' Cleveland may be run by idiots, I don't know, but having more than one interview would seem reasonable. Also, they have interest in Seattles DC so they had to wait to interview him. We are just anxious as Bills fans not to lose him. I'm guessing he wouldn't have much trouble putting a staff together. He would certainly pull some coaches from Buffalo. There are plenty of coaches with experience out there.
  16. and Buffalo is some wonderland?
  17. What's so great in Cleveland? It has one of only 32 NFL head coaching positions in his profession. It has the only current opening. It is very interested in him He wants badly to be a head coach. It's better than being a DC in Buffalo Just for starters
  18. I don't know how you can honestly expect him to turn down a HC job. You don't often have a chance to get hired to coach in a great situation, but what's worse DC for a crappy Buffalo franchise or HC for a crappy Cleveland franchise. Cleveland has a very strong defense and an all world WR. They have 2 first round picks this year and with the right QB, could be a solid team with strong coaching- and I'm sure Pettine thinks he's the coach to help turn it around. It's just wishful thinking on Buffalo's part to not want him to take the job, but hardly realistic.
  19. No, but hopefully he will earn it in the next couple years. Good rookie season though, but needs work to be Pro Bowl material.
  20. there are 5 offensive linemen plus TE, we have a 3 man front, 4 if you count Mario Williams. Linebackers need to either shed the block of the lineman or avoid it. That's how you play the game. And he was blocked by FB's a few times as well. I know it's hard for Bills fans to admit, but he has played poorly as of late.
  21. If you want to criticize Spiller, at least do if after he has a poor game. He ran very well today. If you want to criticize someone today, how about Kiko - was clearly overmatched today, again.
  22. I'm not criticizing Spiller, just I think you are wrong with your reasoning on Browns early retirement. Not trying to start an argument.
  23. Imagine how good of a season both RB's would have had with better players around them, or specifically, in front of them. Very poor offensive line play overall. Glenn was the only above average lineman this year.
  24. He retired to do other things, such as bad acting. Nothing to do with health.
  25. actually Jim Brown retired at age 29
