NFL Rewind URBIK Pass Protect Review
Prickly Pete replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The pass protection should have been stellar, considering that the Jets D had to have been caught off guard by ANY pass attempts. I was happy with their performance, but that was an unusual game, and the game against KC might provide a truer sample. -
All trading ends for 2014 at 4:00 p.m., New York time
Prickly Pete replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think ithe TE thing is a fan preoccupation, and don't see them trading for a TE. Where have you seen even a glimmer of dissatisfaction with the TE's? An O-lineman is a completely different, and way more pressing need. -
This article made me realize one of the things that's bothering me about Marrone. Marrone makes game time decisions like a guy that is afraid to show he doesn't belong in the NFL, like if he just keeps it close to the vest, no one can question his decisions. It shows a lack of confidence,. Trying to run out the clock from the 3rd quarter, in the Red Zone , in a 2 score game, is just way too conservative. Sure, it turned out ok today, but I have to question his mindset. I get it, it was a win, but that doesn't mean the coaches are above reproach. They have 2 wins against teams with winning records...

No, I don't consider what they did "working on the running game". You might, but then you a different kind of guy. As far as the results, the points are being made about the offensive philosophy. The one they have right now can get you by some bad teams, but won't get them into the playoffs. That's the real measure of the results (but then, you are happy with better than 6-10, so I'm sure you are ecstatic). See you at the end of the season Channy. Then you can give me a new excuse... -

4 Dude, they have won some games, but every year this team has won some games. The results aren't in yet! I don't care about the run pass ratio, I'm fine with that, I just don't want a coach running out the clock in the 3rd quarter, in a 2 score game while in the Red Zone. That's taking it too far! -

The Pats team that ran up the score had the right mindset. It was "We don't care what the score is, or who we are playing, EVERYTIME we are on the field, we are trying to improve our performance, because it all adds up. Get better continuously, because you are really playing against yourself. You are trying to learn everytime you are on the field." Compare that to "We are lucky to be up against this opponent, let's just kill the clock from the 3rd quarter, while in the Red Zone". Every time the team is in the Red Zone, it's a chance to get more efficient. A chance for the OC to work on his playcalling, a chance to try out new plays, show new looks, get a new player in, etc. (Just piling into the middle repeatedly is no way to work on the running game) -

They were trying to run out the clock in the 3rd quarter in a 2 score game while IN THE RED ZONE. That's ridiculous when there are so many comebacks in the NFL. That is when you kill off the opponent. Dick Jauron did things like that. Jauron won games too, just never enough. Marty Schottenheimer won games like that too, just never a Super Bowl, even with great teams. I love so much about this team, but the offensive mindset is weak. "Playing not to lose" will get mediocre results (9-7,8-8,7-9). This team is better than that, and deserves to be driven by a better driver. -

But they weren't trying to be "unpredictable", they were trying to "play it safe". 2 different things. And it really bothers me that they have such an unaggressive mind set -

How many drive starts inside the 20, anybody know? -
Okay, so what are the kind of games the Bills have "traditionally won". Like what kind of games are left? "Great teams playing poorly", "Road games against inferior teams", "Lame duck, season-enders", "Super Bowl champs at home, just before the bye-week, but after they have played their division rival"...? I would say last week was the kind of game (crappy team on the road) that they traditionally draw a couple of wins (and a couple of losses) from each year.

Because the bane of this Bills offense seems to be stunt blitzes, I searched the topic a bit, and found this interesting read. http://smartfootball...h.9sHVaLVk.dpbs It seems that the RB plays a big role in countering these kinds of defensive attacks. I hope the backs that line up this Sunday are up to the task. I like that site.

Thread titles like this are really annoying. Just give a hint about the "real " subject, because in that title, the subject is you, and that's not a good subject.

What will they do about this horrid O-line?
Prickly Pete replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really... he had a solid veteran QB to replace him. He doesn't have replacements for the O-lineman (even if you want to swap Urbik in). It's a different situation, and not hard to see the difference. -

There has to be at least one guy out there on a practice squad, a back up they could trade a low pick for, or a final cut veteran that still wants to play, that would be some kind of improvement. Just bring a couple in, and try to get one ready for after the bye. I know they tried to get a practice squad guy, but the team moved him to the roster. Hopefully, they are still looking. -

Yeah, they are going to tell the head coach to "butt out, Doug" -
A Team Player- CJ Spiller

It was pretty heart-rending to see him carted off the field. I believe he is an asset to the team, and a great guy to have on the roster. -
Interesting note about the final play

I noticed Boobie in the GIF. He would have scored too.
