Rams | Curtis Draws Praise from HC
Thu, 25 Aug 2005 11:00:51 -0700
Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz said WR Kevin Curtis was in the same class as teammates WRs Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. "I think he's on a par with (them); I really do," Martz said. "I think those three are very comparable receivers. I think right now, he's at that level."
So your 3rd WR is on par with two established vets with numerous Pro Bowls under their belts?

The only thing I'm not sold on is that it was mentioned on the sabres board that he is a UFA after this year. Let's see what the chances are of getting him signed to a 3 or 4 year deal are.

I think this thread will be resurrected throughout the season.

A better poll would be...Who is the bigger blowhard in the Andre' Davis thread?

Will the two of you make the BET as to how many deep balls Brady will throw this year, print it so you have a hard copy and then both of you STFU!

TD says Bledsoe is a GREAT "long ball" pocket passing QB and Brady isn't. Does that mean I should want Bledsoe as a QB instead of Brady?

Two Towns Tell EchoStar: Call Us 'Dish' - Report
Thursday August 25, 12:24 PM EDT
DENVER -(Dow Jones)- At least two U.S. towns would be willing to change to their names to "Dish" to get free satellite TV service.
Only a day after EchoStar Communications Corp. (DISH) (DISH) said it would give a decade of free satellite service to any city or town that changes its name, a town in New York and one in Colorado have offered themselves up, according to a report in the Rocky Mountain News Thursday.
The upstate New York town of Virgil, population 2,287, and Brookvale, Colo., population 200, have contacted Echostar (DISH) as potential "Dish" candidates, the company told the Rocky.
Englewood, Colo.-based EchoStar (DISH) is accepting candidates until Nov. 1.
The company Tuesday said it will provide free programming for 10 years to all households in a U.S. community willing to change its name legally and permanently to Dish.
"As part of Dish Network's rebranding efforts and new advertising campaign trumpeting 'Better TV for All,' we invite a city or town to join us by rebranding itself Dish," EchoStar (DISH) President Michael Neuman said in a prepapred statement.
A town of 1,000 households, for example, would receive about $4 million worth of free programming, the company said.
In exchange, the town is required to put the Dish name on government buildings, post offices and schools and hospitals, if possible.

I'll change my name to "dish" if they want to give me free satellite programming for a decade.

2352 words. What a poor effort. I am waiting for the ultimate 5000 word FFS post. I know you have it in you. Are you saving it for your game 1 summary post?

I agree, there is obviously an age division on TSW! It kills me that supposed "football fans" will post time after time things like "Sure TO is a jerk, but come Sunday, he produces, he is the greatest WR in the game today", but then they will turn around and ignorantly write off someone like Maddens credentials, because they don't like his announcing style...welcome to the ADD era, I am glad someone has come up for a name for it...when I was growing up, it was usually just called being "stupid".
I agree 100%! It is clear that the "Hot Pockets" generation has no time to read up on Madden for even 5 minutes. He was a great coach who deserves to be in the hall. What he does in the broadcast booth is irrelevent.

Just what was needed...another thread that is a continuation of the same argument.

Who gives a sh-- that a Pats fan thinks Brady is a very good QB(which he is by the way...long ball and short ball) or a Bills fan who thinks he is putting a Pats fan in his place.
I agree with tater...pass the aspirin.

The player I look most forward to seeing is Josh Stamer playing OLB in place of Posey. If I see the Green Bay TD one more time(NFL Network has been running it during one of their promos for preseason games) where Favre made Posey look "Eddie Robinson like", I'm going to puke.

Clements by far would be the biggest loss. You have McGee who still needs to prove he can be a consistent NFL CB and some promising young players who have been nothing more then nickel and dime CB's(KT, JG and EK). The only saving grace would be that TV could move back to CB in a pinch, but I don't know how badly a hit the Bills would then take at FS with either Baker or CW(bite my tongue) filling in.

I think the Buffalo News does a good job. I don't get to see the D&C much.
I still don't think the News has recovered from the loss of Felser, Kelly and Carucci several years ago. That was a lot of experience that either retired or walked away from the News. The guys that replaced them are okay, but nowhere near the same caliber.

Colts third-string QB Brown placed on IR
INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 24, 2005) -- The Indianapolis Colts placed quarterback Travis Brown on injured reserve, ending his season.
Brown hurt his right shoulder and elbow in the Colts' 24-17 loss to Chicago.
"It's more the elbow than the shoulder," coach Tony Dungy said. "We're not sure exactly what it is, but it's not an injury to be taken lightly."...

I think 16-18 is a reasonable goal for sacks by Schobel & Kelsay.

Nothing like a good ole' fashioned argument with a Pats troll to pass the preseason away. All we're missing now is a bet, where SDS can piss away numerous hours looking through the archives for some meaningless post.
