Remember the old days when we did silent threads?
I do..and I thought that was where this was going when I read the title.

I was at that game, back when I was still a season ticket holder. I can tell you, the 1980-1982 seasons were pretty fantastic at Rich Stadium, but to this day, I swear, I have never been to a sporting event as loud as it was that day, when they introduced Kelly. My seats were right around the 50 yard line, but in the lower upper deck..it was shaking...only thing that was comperable was when the Bills broke the streak against the Dolphins on opening day of 1980. That whole game, that stadium was shaking, and there wasn't a doubt that the Bills were set at QB for the next 10 years. It has become so cliche now, but the guy really was just tough as nails, and you could see it from opening day. They only won 4 games that season, but they were in so many of them (coming off back to back 2-14 seasons), because of Jim. He was awesome....everything we hoped he would be... tough, a little cocky, fiery...man, I miss those years... some of my greatest sports memories of all.
I was there as well and my memory is the same as yours. The stadium atmosphere was unlike anything it had ever been before that day because of Jim Kelly. A game I will always remember vividly along with 51-3 and The Comeback.

The beef on weck that they already serve in the clubs is pretty damn good.

In searching for a Jim Kelly pic, I came across this old SI article about Kelly's debut against the Jets. His toughness was appreciated from day one as a Bill.
Most of the Jet defensive linemen got a piece of him, one way or another, but they all came away impressed. "I didn't think he'd be this tough," noseguard Joe Klecko said. "If he was hurt, he sure didn't show it. He's heady, too. He's got quicker moves than you think.""Most young quarterbacks just tuck the ball away and run when they decide to scramble," defensive end Marty Lyons said. "But when he moved out of the pocket he always had poise and he was always looking downfield."
"It's funny," Kelly said. "I knew I was going to get hit a lot today, but I got hit a lot playing for the Gamblers, too. For some reason, I felt more relaxed here than in the USFL. I felt at home; I want to win for the people here. I've just got the taste of winning so bad in my mouth right now."

Cool story, thanks for posting. I was introduced to Jim Ritcher at a Sabres Hurricanes game down here several years ago. We had a conversation for an entire intermission, and he spoke of his playing days and what he thought of Levy coming in as GM at the time. A very nice guy.

1. Tom Brady retires.

That is awesome! Is a mandolin considered a "guitar?"
Technically I would guess not, but that is an awesome cover and truly unique.

Tom Sawyer on 3 guitars.

Not married, no kids and I still lived in Buffalo. In other words...a lifetime ago.

What a kick in the gut...I mean what team loses a coordinator after 14 straight losing seasons and another 6-10 finish this year?? This is the type of **** that only happens to the Bills...
Now we start over from scratch again on D...when will something go our way for once?? Do we have a unending black cloud over this franchise or something??
So frustrating...
Look on the bright side, we are going to win 6-7 games next year with or without Pettine.

Tom Brady is an all time great QB who beats the Bills all the time. He's also a major dick.
Bill Belichik is an all time great coach who beats the Bills all the time. He's an even bigger dick than Tom Brady is.
If either was QB/coach of the Bills we would be building statues of them downtown and Jets fans and M!@#$s would be hating on them all the time.
With that out of the way, why does anyone feel the need to come to the defense of these two when Bills fans simply like to rejoice when they fail? Why try to deny us what little bit of joy NFL football still manages to give us from time to time.
The filter gets "mass holes" apparently

Nice article. Small craft breweries have been popping up all over the place here in Raleigh-Durham over the past few years, some make excellent beer and others...not so much. I've had beers from some of these breweries that I'd be embarrassed to serve even as homebrew to anyone, it would have been dumped right down the drain if I brewed it.

if you can simply choose another team to root for, then you weren't much of a fan in the first place.
Exactly right.
He knows that. OP wrote that novel of a post to justify his decision, not to others, but to himself.
Which again is why any poster who starts a LAMP thread about how they are no longer a Bills fan should be immediately banned from the board IMO.

72. I'm dumb with biology.
There were only maybe 4 or 5 bio questions on the entire test.

84%. But I'm a biochemist dammit..what's with all the physics, astronomy and paleontology questions?

If I strictly follow the misery loves company doctrine my rooting order would be:
NE*
Denver
SF
Seattle
This would be due to NE* having won most recently, but NE* is a special case and I reserve the right to alter the doctrine because the Patriots* are the Patriots*. Therefore, my rooting preference becomes.
Denver
SF
NE*
Seattle

Thats great Pooj. Don't tell me you play?
I know you listen to Stern, did you see this one? NSFW!
I can't see the video at work, but I'm assuming that is the Shuli / Yucko bit where they pretend to be gay in a multi player game?

I was at all of the top 3 coldest. For #3 against the Raiders, I lost my gloves coming into the stadium, thankfully a stranger sitting in front of me lent me an extra pair.

The Dean.
Hasn't The Dean disappeared for long stretches multiple times over the years? He'll be back.
I miss IBTG81.
He's a horrible human being.

87/14 = 6.2. Sounds about right to me.

Seahawks, always rooting for a city that hasnt had a SB win.
Never!!!!
Why? I don't want the Bills to be the only team that never has and that club seems to shrink all the time.
Yes, this is the misery loves company paradigm. I'll root for NE or Dallas to win another SB before I want to see a new team hoist the Lombardi.
-
I think the most likely scenario is the game plays out as usual, with NE up comfortably into the 3rd / 4th quarter and Denver losing, yet Brady is still in the game and throwing the ball all over the field. It's at this point that it wouldn't make me sad if one of our DL were to Wilfork him.

Better than slow hand himself on this version IMO.
