It's not about an eye for an eye. Idiots spewing racist nonsense in a private leaked chat has been rightly called out for what it is by most conservatives.....idiocy. The distinction is not giving it any weight in comparison to the pervasive and very public calls for violence from high profile individuals on the left that gets called out almost never.
