  1.

Look at what the Vikings traded to get Bradford.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see a team, such as like a Denver who coupled with their championship caliber defense could entertain the thought of acquiring a QB like Tyrod as an effective option playing the game manager role. I would even venture to guess that they believe they could be in the hunt to win the Superbowl.

I don't believe it is as far-fetched as you may think

I would be very surprised if TT is picked up as an option at the price he may want, thinking that he is a starter in the NFL. Heck, E.J. said something similar

re: himself saying something like " people in the NFL know what I can do". Really? What?

  2.

I just can't believe the Jets game matters at all for either EJ or TT's fate. I mean how much weight is this organization going to put in a performance vs. the Jets at this juncture? The Jets have completely given up. If anything I'd start Cardale at this point - he'll probably throw for 3 TD's vs Kotite's Jets. Talk about a boost of confidence.

IMO, this is strictly the Bills playing it safe with TT pending the new HC hire.

IF I were E.J., I'd go out to the parking lot and slam my right hand in my car door, so I CAN"T play Sunday and nobody , NO GM will another game to

see me on film and see just how terrible I am.

  3. Rushing defense, on display AGAIN yesterday. Ranked 29 in the league, rushing yards / game.

That's basically the front 7, correct? After a D heavy draft and signing a few true FA gems. Couple really great pick ups. Seriously.

Offense has been an issue and the QB / passing game obviously, however if the Bills were not horrible up front, they probably would be in the playoffs in a couple weeks.

You can't have bad run defense and a not too bright head coach, as we saw yesterday. It's just too much to overcome.

2 rushing plays after Rex gave the ball back to Miami - almost 80 yards RIGHT there - game over.

    IMO.

  4. The burnt often part lovely. Completely false but doesnt matter i guess

So when we run Gilmore out of town this offseason who it the next player we are gonna scapegoat for wanting to be paid?

Sammy? Just starting my offseason prep and want to know who i need to sharpen pitchforks for

He had SEVERAL BAD GAMES THIS YEAR. Look at the "goats" tally from at the end of the season.

Watkins? May be. Cant stay healthy. Not managements fault.

  5. Almost 600 yards of offence and the bills still lost.. I for one have had disagreements with a few posters here about what's more of a problem, the offence or defence. This game should clearly show that the defence/coaching are the main problems on this team.

I am not saying that Tyrod is the franchise guy that is going to lead the bills to the promise land. But he is easily good enough to get into the playoffs if you have the support around him. Alex smith gets 10-11 wins every year, and I am not sold at all that he is better than Tyrod. He has better coaching and a 10 times better defence.

A lot of people want Tyrod gone next year and think we will be better without him. I could not disagree more with that, as this defence and coaching staff is an absolute joke. Like I said, he is no means a great QB and I do think we should draft a QB next year, but he is not the reason why the bills are 7 and 8 as there are much bigger problems on this team. Pick up his option next year, fire that clown as a head coach, fix the defence and you probably have a playoff team.

In saying this, Merry chirstmas everyone and hope everybody enjoys the holidays

    HE was not the # 1 problem, ....................... for 1 game!! :)

  6. I get it, Gilmore wants to stay healthy for a big contract somewhere else next season. Remember how bad Clements wanted out of Buffalo? We have seen this before.

Even given the above, Gilmore (imo) is a disgrace and I truly do hope he moves on. A case could be made that his attempt at a "shoulder tackle" cost us a game with playoff implications, on Christmas Eve.

I like when we fans disagree. It makes this board great and I learn from good dialogue. Can anyone explain to me how getting rid of Mario was good but losing Gilmore would be bad?

My take is good riddance to both!

    Done. Out.

Guys, shoulder tackling is actually less safe than proper tackling. He was not playing to save his body. He just isn't very good at tackling. Still played decent in coverage.

    No.

  7. He has played the best football of his career over the past four weeks. He is going to make a lot of money provided he stays healthy. The Bills need cbs desperately. Will they try to keep him?

He's had some brutal games this year, not paying top money for a handful of great games.

Don't like his "play when I want to play mentality" either.

    Let him walk...

    IMO

  8. "Well, it could be that Whaley doesn't want to explain how it is that the Bills have fewer of their own draft picks on the active roster than any other team in the NFL, as Tim Graham laid out in his Monday column.

Or perhaps Doug doesn't care to tell us why he gets credit for the good moves that were made before he became general manager, while the bad ones get laid at the feet of former GM Buddy Nix.

Whaley could explain why the Bills still don't scout underclassmen until they declare for the draft, or why they take so many guys who are hurt, or why he didn't do more to bolster his depth at wide receiver when he knew Sammy Watkins had a serious injury."

  9.

And you are blaming Tyrod for ranking 32 in pass attempts? And those really low stats (the ones near the bottom of the league) except for sacks are directly attributable to that 32 ranked pass attempts.

Dude. Get real. Who is calling the plays the offense is supposed to run?

You can blame Tyrod for most of the Comp% and Yards per attempt ranking in the mid and low 20's but the worst stats on that chart are directly caused by the league low number of pass plays called.

How can you guys not understand that?

Forget about the quarterbacks name for a minute. How can you not see (it is ridiculously obvious) that those low total passing yards, passing yards per game, passing touchdowns and other bottom of the league stats are a direct result of running fewer pass plays than any other team in the league?

Do you understand what those stats mean? You are just making yourself look unreasonable.

    31st sacked????

  10. I was always one who thought this season would stand or fall on whether Rex could figure the D out and get it back on track. The first 4 weeks have been largely encouraging that one disaster against the Jets notwithstanding.

So I thought I'd start a thread to track where we are week by week in the key categories.

    So after week 4:

Yard per game allowed: Rank - 17th

Pass YPG allowed: Rank - 17th

Rush YPG allowed: Rank - 13th

Points per game allowed: Rank - 6th

    3rd down %: Rank - 10th

    Sacks: Rank - 3rd

    Takeaways: Rank - 5th

Interesting, however the season got away again from the Bills during the 3 game losing streak... season over.

33.3 avg points / game against.

  11.

I thought QBR had been discredited as a meaningful stat?

It had its critics from the start:

"Further controversy erupted when the Total QBR system gave the Denver Broncos' Tim Tebow a higher rating than the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers in their respective Week 5 contests in 2011. Noting that Rodgers completed 26 of 39 passes for 396 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, while Tebow completed four of 10 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown, and six rushes for 38 yards and a touchdown, in a loss to the San Diego Chargers, Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com wrote that he'll "continue to ignore ESPN’s Total QBR stat."[12] Rodgers himself was surprised: "I saw the [QBR stats] and chuckled to myself. I played a full game, [Tebow] played the half. He completed four passes, I completed 26. I think it incorporates QB runs as well ... The weighting of it doesn't make a whole lot of sense."[13]"

Wow. I had no idea it was that messed up...

  12. If you want to see how a real organization behaves - watch what John Elway does this offseason. I'll put my chips on the table that he goes out and finds a solid QB to leverage his historically great defense while their window to win stays open. He won't be content to hand the keys to Lynch or Siemian (though notice he drafted two last year, one first and one last). Be it Romo or Biridgewater or someone else, I'm guessing Elway recognizes you need a QB to win games and does what it takes to find one.

Wish Whaley would take the same approach...

    + 1000

    Absolutely freaking BINGO!!

Bills and other people don't want to ever take a QB, or wait and see, or something else: Elway will go out and get someone, and if they aren't IT, move on quickly.
