  1. Too big, fat, out of shape? Groin, hamstring, ankle?

Seems a lot like last year, without the suspension...

Marcell Dareus hurt his right ankle on the opening drive. He had it re-taped but was listed as questionable to return but did come back in the game late in the first half but was severely limited the rest of the way only playing 17 snaps. He is being evaluated and they will know more by Wednesday. updated.gif9/18

He can't make it through the opening drive 2 games into the season?

  2. Nobody is suggesting that the Bills are Super Bowl contenders. Two meaningless preseason games tells us nothing about this offense. But you make my point - Cam Newton was NFL MVP that year throwing to a mediocre set of receivers. No one believes Taylor will be an MVP candidate, but it is true that he is a far more accurate thrower of the ball than Newton. His performance last year was far superior to Newton's 2016 seas

Wow. Cam Newton completed 52 % of his passes last year.

  3. He is not healthy and missed 5 games last year. Not looking good at the moment.

What do the Bills do for LT to start the season and as backup for him going down later/

How bad is this contract looking now...

He got his new contract in 2016 and I don't see this being a good thing at this point.

  4.

Well Jauron was a free safety in the NFL right? McDermott was a DB in college. So.............

Maybe they both thought they were the most important people on the field then too.... ey?

    Right. Didn't know that.

    Maybe!

If you can pick up an extra DB here or there.that's fine.

I would also focus on the O-line some, as Glenn is always having some level of health issue it seems, and Woods is getting up there pretty good. IMO.

  5. I will take high character players every time. I believe it is an essential of a winning formula. Because Dick Jauron failed you doubt that? Players that have low work ethic become out of shape and get hurt. Players with low character get suspended. Seems we have a D tackle that would have taught you that.

    "Dareus"

  6. Actually I don't think it is setting him up for failure as much as it is setting him up to prove himself without his go to WR. If he is really "set up to fail" because of one player than he isn't the franchise QB we are looking for anyway.

And what was Sammy's great contribution last year, 430 yards and 2 Tds, so setting up for failure seems to be an exaggeration to begin with.

    /\ + 1

I would add, the Bills has the 31st ranked passing game on the league in 2016 WITH Sammy Watkins, so that's pretty much a failure in mo opinion.

Los Angeles Rams added 2 WR from the Bills in Woods and Watkins: Rams finished 30th in passing yards.

  7. Point one is totally irrelevant - yes I would draft a 24 yr old SW in the first if he was under a rookie contract and the injuries were not there.

I would not draft a 24 yr old SW with the known injury history and knowing you need to sign him at 13-15 million a year contract with the injury history.

You trade the guy to get a younger version that is price controlled for 4 or 5 years and fits the scheme you want to run.

The Julio Jones comparison is great if we had Matt Ryan and a passing offense, but that is not what we are doing this year or probably next year - so get something and move on.

and so ends the Sammy Watkins debacle.

At least they got SOMETHING for him. I think he probably plays half the season hurt/injured again and this point is totally forgotten.

  8. No.

    Bad trades.

Sammy is going to be a superstar. With two ones and a two next year we can get the franchise QB we want without the extra two if that's what they are doing. I wouldn't mind the Darby trade if we didn't do the Sammy one. I would have taken Matthews and a 3 for Darby.

Obviously the Bills weren't that interesting in betting he would be healthy this year and probably weren't interested in signing him to a long term contract next year even if he did.

  9. One has to wonder how many balls he has to drop before he starts to slide down the depth chart. He certainly has fallen behind expectations.

It would be nice to have a reliable 6'4" WR. If only Lewis had reliable hands!

And, why did we let Hunter walk? (Other than that he couldn't?)

That's kind of one of the issues IMO: Zay Jones has never caught an NFL pass. He would have to move UP if Holmes can't catch or if Sammy goes down, or both.

  10. Mills doesn't even look good in camp and Dawkins has yet to challenge him by all reports.

I still think S, LB, and TE are worse position groups especially with regard to depth, but right now whoever starts at RT is the worst of the 22 starters by far.

    Options:

    1. Deal with it until Henderson comes off suspension. Let Mills and Dawkins platoon until Henderson comes back then cut Mills

    2. Give one or more of the interior lineman a few practices at RT - Ducasse played OT in college, Groy has played a few games at OT too.

    3. Austin Howard - he and Ryan Clady are the only OTs on the top 50 FA list. He might be worth a look

    4. Trade Wood for a very good RT. Hear me out. I would not do this but it could be a scenario. Groy played as well as Wood last season. Wood is in the last year of his deal. Wood is 5 years older than Groy. If a team loses a center in camp, the Bills might be in a position to take advantage of their need.

Most likely scenario is just deal with it. If Cordy is healthy, they can slide protection help to the right side all game long.

Reports are that Cordy Glenn is not healthy, again, or still. IF he can't go and/or misses some time, how does this effect the O-line?

Do that start Dion Dawkins at LT?

Do they let Jordan Mills then stay at RT?

This could be a mess real soon. IMO.

This thread is brought to you by the guy who asked if Ragland could be a surprise cut.

    Oh geez, Seriously???

  11. I agree.

Well, we found out the hard way that Rob wasn't very good.

In hindsight, IF the Ryan brothers hadn't messed up that defense quite as much as they did, and Ryan could have managed games better, maybe they DO make the playoffs last year.

They certainly had the ground game to make it difficult for other teams, and just enough passing, sometimes.

  12. Thank you for responding. TT for sure needs to improve also. I would also include Ryan's poor game day coaching as a problem- I've said that before. Someone won't like that.

    Thank you.

Agreed. I found it really amazing that a guy like Ryan after having coached in the league for a while still had so many issues managing and coaching during a game. I would have let

him go just for those issues. Inexcusable in my opinion, of an NFL head coach.
