  1. Mods, feel free to merge this with another thread if you want, but this stat isn't something you can just find. You need to go to the ESPN splits for every single QB in the NFL to find this particular stat... so I figured it deserved some discussion, since it has been a point of criticism for Taylor in 2015 and 2016.

Tyrod Taylor has the 3rd highest passer rating in the NFL when trailing the opponent.

    #1- Alex Smith at 136.2

    #2- Russell Wilson at 115.7

    #3- Tyrod Taylor at 114.2

That's significantly better than 2015 (95.6) or 2016 (92.5) and I think it's something to put your finger on in terms of an area of improvement.

    He's also 8/19 (42.1%) with 1 TD on 3rd downs when trailing.

Look, he's doing what he's asked to do when he's asked to do it and he's doing it at a pretty high level. The Bills have actually been ahead the majority of the time this year, and on the year, when the Bills have been either trailing or tied with the opposition, Taylor has thrown 74% of his passes (at a 69% completion %) for 77% of his yards and 80% of his TDs. He's also been a more efficient runner when trailing or tied. He's gained 75 yards at 5.8 YPC, as opposed to the 43 yards at 2.4 YPC when the team has been ahead.

If McDermott and Bean are not moving forward with someone like Sammy Watkins, are true talent, why on earth would they put their collective futures in the Tyrod Taylor basket?

The Bills taking a true NFL QB somewhere in the 2018 draft, and everyone should probably just understand that.

    IMO.

  2. Tyrod doesn't throw to WRs anyway.....at least through this point in the season. Not sure how much they are really concerned about it. With the amount of targets these guys are getting, maybe they think they can just stick anyone in there and have similar production.

That said, I really want a good, fast WR on this team. Would not only open up the passing game, but maybe help clear the box a bit to get this run game going again.

+ 1 Bingo It will be fine, for now...

  3. I'm not a Tyrod hater, he is what he is. He can scramble and make plays when there isn't one. Him and McCoy are the only offensive weapons on this team. But he still can't make the easy plays. If you are this excited about 180 yards passing then you probably haven't watched a real QB in a while. Let's not get it twisted. The DEFENSE and Hauschka won that game

    +100 to Bills drafting a QB 2018.

  4. I would love to poll NFL Gms and I would bet money on them choosing Flacco. I dont think Flacco is a particularly good qb. I do think nfl teams favor a guy who won a SB, has size, & doesnt dependent on his legs over TT.

Good starting nfl qbs in their prime dont take contract cuts like TT did this offseason.

They dont call passing plays because they dont trust the qb. Its been 3 OCs now.

It's really just that simple, and you have to give the staff(s) credit for being realistic about this. IMO.

Can people do some research before spouting off. We are all on computers or phones with internet access.

2016 bottom 10 passing yards and winning record: Texans, Titans, Dolphins, Dallas

2015 bottom 10 passing yards and winning record: Vikings, Chiefs, Bills, Green Bay, Carolina

2014 bottom 10 passing yards and winning record: Chiefs, Niners, Seattle, Texans

So every year 4 or 5 teams that finish in the bottom 10 of the league finish with a winning record. It can and does happen...

And using your computer, exactly when was the last time the Bills made the playoffs? Or won a playoff game?

  5. I personally have nothing against Glenn and at least he doesn't have off the field issues like Dareus, but this was yet another horrible deal by Whaley and we need to move on from Glenn after this year.

I think, like Dareus, there the "out" situation isn't really feasible until after the 2018 season.

i don't understand the "out" meaning specifics, however that's what the contract people say.

  6. I think there is more risk in betting on Peterman than in using one of your first round picks to draft some competition for him, and failing to draft one more support person. I like Peterman, but he's not a sure thing. I would not package the first round picks to move higher and draft one of the top three QBs because I'm not convinced that the QBs who have been considered the top three this summer are risk free, can't miss prospects. I'm talking about Darnold and the Josh boys, Rosen and Allen. I like Mason Rudolph as much as any of the three, and I think Baker Mayfield could end up being better than any of them. This is a fascinating draft class for QBs, and probably better than any class we've had in a while, but it is still something of a crap shoot as far as ranking the top 5. At this point, I don't know that I would be more inclined to pick a QB with my top first round pick or my second first round pick. It depends on how the first round plays out.

    How about BOTH!!!

12th in intermediate passing is a good sign. Do I think he is the seventh best QB-of course not, but he isn't terrible either, like some think.

and LAST year I saw a stat saying he held the ball longer than anyone in the league... And he sucked.

  8. The jets defense is not bad

Jets defense ranked # 30 at 409 yards / games.

Panthers defense ranked # 1 at 196 yards / game.

Oh yeah, Jets are dead last in the league with 33 points / game against.
