Completing 50 % of your pass attempts is just brutal.
You are going to need something more from your passing game other than 170 yards / game at some point.
-
Bush and Clay lined wide?
We are seriously thin at wide receiver!
Yes. How does this even happen?
-
Who are the receivers for today?
Watkins - out
Woods - out
Goodwin as # 1?!?
-
He hit Goodwin, Salas, and Powell on a long bomb and missed Woods twice this year. He was 44% on long bombs last year. He doesnt have his star WR that woulda caught the Woods throw from last week. That type of skill doesnt go away hes just adjusting to the other WRs speed. Or are you telling me he lost his skill to throw it after a few bad games? Besides Wilson and Cam who are all these dual threat QBs that are sooooo much better? Really I wanna know....
He's not a throwing QB, an hopefully it will remain that way.
Even some of the completions are horrible passes.
1 deep pass yesterday was really nice though...
Though I agree with your comment, Sammy was consistently putting up 5-10 Recs and 100+ yards late last season when him and Tyrod got in the groove.
my nigga HAP!!
Huh? Do you know how many <= 5 reception games Watkins had last year?
-
The Bills dont have a passing game.
3rd in rushing yards/game.
1st in rushing yards/attempt.
32 in passing yards/ game.
Where is the question? Really?
They have a QB who really doesn't throw well, and an elite RB.

Shady McCoy , the voice of reason....

Passing yards may be (probably is) the least important stat for this team. The important things in terms of the passing game are 3rd down conversions, TD:into ratio and RZ scoring. If those things continue to be strong the Bills will win. If those things slip up the Bills will struggle.
I think the Bills can get by in general with a below average passing game (QB and Receivers), however absolute dead last?
Teams, BETTER teams, are going to shut down the run game and force the Bills to throw the ball: which they can't.
-
... after 5 weeks.
Not complaining about recent wins, however the Bills need to get much more out of the pass game (and QB
play) than last in the league.
I understand Watkins is out, the Bills finished 28th in the same stat. category last year with him.
Bills have almost nothing at receiver and need an upgrade at QB as well.
QB play and the passing game in general are holding this team back: IMO.

I like Tyrod. He has a lot of pros in his favor.
He has a lot of cons too.
He is not a bad player, but he's not a particularly good passer either.
He's sort of slightly too good to be a backup, but only because there is such a dearth of starting QB talent in the league these days.
I would like to continue to try and aggressively find "the guy" at QB, b/c Tyrod ain't it.
+ 1
I would add, you can't commit a large amount of $ or salary cap. to a position of need and a position you have to upgrade: QB.

two #1s?

Bad news: season over
Good news: 100% for 2017 when healed.
See #Edelman #Dez #Julio & many more WR examples.

Every team has injuries...
Clay is always injured.
Glenn always seems hurt. Mystery injury as well.
Watkins can't stay on the field. Now IR'd.
New England has a couple injuries as well...
-
We already know how it's going to play out. We will limp our way to December until we are officially knocked out. Rex is going to claim how the offense ended up last overall bc we lost Sammy even tho Whaley did nothing to fix the wr depth
He is going to claim how we had tons of injuries on defense and how we will get better. Only to go 7-9 or 8-8 next year and see him finally get fired. The front office will try to explain to the fans how Tyrod will get better and they will pick up his option
Why waste a year. Rex needs to be gone again. We will be stuck playing 20+ mill to a QB who has no future here.
Future looks bleak as of now.
Fix it, Whaley CAUSED it...
-
Obviously a huge blow to Bills for this season. But I don't think it impacts their need for a #1 WR at least for next 2 years. Sammy will be back and hopefully ready to go in 2017. I do think Hunter needs to fill a huge void in 2016, let's hope he does. They definitely need to draft one high this year to replace woods who will most likely walk. And possibly to replace Sammy once he leaves as a FA (if he does).
Jeez, I hope not. Can't stand to see Whaley give away another two # 1s in 2017 draft.
-
Now it comes out this morning that the Bills/Whaley knew Sammy's foot might be a long term issue before the draft in April, yet still did absolutely nothing to cover their arse.
Who knew what when?
-
Yep. His handling of the QB position in 2013 AND 2014 were grounds for dismissal all by themselves. Polian would've thrown DW to the curb if he ended up coming here after all.
THIS /\ +1

No I think the passing game looks awful. The point is the contract is easily escapable this offseason. It was essentially low risk high reward. We took very little risk on that deal. It looks like it won't work out, fine, we are able to move on without it handcuffing us.
Oh, OK. I misunderstood.
They need to draft another QB this year, again, and keeping drafting until you get someone. IMO
-
I think the opposite. The way he is playing makes that deal look very sensible.
You are one of the very few that feel that way.
What are YOU seeing that I am not seeing? Seriously.
Do you know where the Bills passing game is ranked right now?
Take a guess...
-
Whaley did not pick Marrone or Rex. It amazes me that you are this uninformed.
So the Peg's selected R Ryan all by themselves?
-
The debate, if there is one, will be answered very shortly.
If the Whaley / Rex Ryan / TTaylor Bills CAN'T beat the Patriots without Brady, the season is another loss at then 1-3 : Ryan then needs to go
as does Whaley at their collective efforts will be not enough.
Whaley missing on 2 Head Coaches.
Whaley missing on 2 QBs.
Whaley missing on picks.
Whaley handing out the wrong contracts to the wrong people.
IF they win and go on to make the playoffs, give 1 more year.
-
I'm sorry, but how can you blame Whaley for Sammy's injury? When healthy, SW was clearly one of the most talented WR's in the league. Imagine if he had Brady or Brees throwing to him...
It was a good pick.
It was a HORRIBLE draft day move and trade to get him, and should be a contributing factor in his ultimate release.
-
Don't you need to count Sammy "IR" Watkins 2 x?
-
3 - TT looked comfortable. Yes, that read option pitch was almost a nightmare and his passing totals weren't huge. But after that first long run, you finally saw him making those short passes he's been missing. He was accurate, he made some throws over the middle. He wasn't great, but he was so much better than the first two weeks. I'm taking is as a sign of progress. Not done with him yet.
Go Bills
1. 15 / 28 - not accurate - 56 % completions.
2. Mental mistakes again - lucky didn't cost the team more.
3. 119 yards passing - not nearly enough.
He's a decent backup - nothing more. IMO
This is the 2nd miss on Qb by Whaley.
-
5 yards penalty...

dude can't throw. Period.
If you give him, a QB who can't throw, that much money, it's got to effect the cap somehow. BADLY.
Teams find QBs all the time.
