  1. Agreed re Guerrier needing to come back. But I am always wrong about this! In four years, Guerrier could develop a great outside shooting game and post-up game. It’s what Brissett should have done too.
  2. Given what I perceive to be the failure of most state governments in rolling out the vaccines, I have the sense that the providers don’t care anymore. I sense the vibe is that It’s more important to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible. We tried with the priority system— now it is “whoever can navigate the maze better,” wins. I had a debate with my wife about this. She has a really moral objection to line jumpers. I view it as: we just need to maximize shots at this point. Some countries have adopted this latter approach— Indonesia has vaccinated its working population first: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-indonesia-explaine-idUSKBN2990MX
  3. that’s interesting about Brissett. I didn’t know he had issues with Syracuse. I would have loved to see him play 4 years.
  4. Agreed. I would expect Kadary is gone after his sophomore season, and Guerrier is gone after this season. Guerrier could use another season, but I say that about everyone who leaves and am always wrong (Jerami Grant, Brissett, Lydon, McCullough). I actually have this weird feeling that Griffen may end up in the NBA.
  5. Girard has been a real enigma his entire career at Syracuse, but something seems to have clicked these last two games. Never seen him play with such confidence. He was huge for us tonight. Not only with his shooting— but his D has improved. He’s handling well Against really tough pressure, and the guy is chasing down all sorts of rebounds— I think he had like 7 rebounds tonight. I think this team really needs him and Buddy to shoot well to actually continue this run. The only other consistent outside shooter is Griffen and he’s just a mess now.
  6. They just choked away the game. Really bad offensive possessions down the stretch. I don’t mind playing Houston. They will be tough, but we are playing really well now. BTw, Brendan Haywood is tough to listen to— wow.
  7. Watching this Houston-Rutgers game. Houston just crashes the glass. They get 3 shots every possession.
  8. that pass/kick-out to Braswell Late was probably the play of the game, in my view. Two huge passes and clutch 3 on that play— at probably the most important point of the game.
  9. imagine if Dolejaz had fouled out. He pretty much was the most critical Player down the stretch. Every one of our baskets went through him.
  10. Great team win!! A lot of guys stepped up with key shots at important times. And the D was great— that McNeil Just went off. Not much more they could have done about it. but how about the officiating— woof!
  11. my theory on the Big 10 being overhyped looks to be true. Every time there is a “super” conference, the seeds for that conference get way inflated. They just play each other and then the stats become “incestuous.” I think they have some good teams— but to have two 1 seeds, two 2 seeds, and a 4 seed, in addition to the other teams that made it— they were bound to be overhyped.
  12. the random ad hoc way these vaccines are being distributed will be sort of interesting to study after the fact. I would like to see how the different states implemented their procedures. My sense is that mass decentralization down to the local level (county, town, borough) has been more effective than the states that have tried to centralize the process. it seems like everyone I have spoken to in a number of different states that have been vaccinated— that happened through a friend of a friend or some random referral or word of mouth, traveling to a remote Spot, etc.
  13. re JJ, you are right: https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/news/story/why-the-johnson-johnson-vaccine-is-more-effective-than-you-think In clinical trials, the J&J vaccine showed 66% overall efficacy against Covid-19 while the other vaccines showed percentages around 95%. But, Dr. Papa explains, those aren’t the numbers that matter. The question is how well the vaccines protect against serious disease. In Johnson & Johnson’s published results, its vaccine was 85% effective in preventing severe disease and, most important, “demonstrated complete protection against COVID-19 related hospitalization and death as of Day 28.”
  14. I got my first shot this morning. Moderna. My arm has become increasingly sore throughout the day. Sort of surprised at how sore— like Hurts to raise my arm in the air. Was tired too and took a nap, but otherwise am fine. Just hiked 3 miles.
  15. i feel like instead of upbeat clapping, this guy does sort of sad poetry hour snapping.
  16. haha— we’ve all Been there!
  17. The good news is that since bad Griffen showed today, that means we will get good Griffen on Sunday!
  18. This defense is really coming together. It really looks great when Braswell, Edwards, and Richmond are all on the floor at the same time. I also think this team plays much better D with a lead. Just seek to be more aggressive.
  19. I gotta say that I am impressed with San Diego state. They are physical and play better D than even UVA. Just can’t stop Buddy!!!
  20. I had a feeling the Big 10 was overhyped. There is always a conference that is inflated every year. Illinois and Michigan though are still probably going to make deep runs.
  21. I saw this picture of him working out the other day:
  22. welp, I only came on here to post a wonder years GIF, so.... (slinking away).
  23. I agree with you that small gadget guys are a dime a dozen, which is why the Bills are in no rush to sign McKenzie. But Watkins has played in the NFL like 6-7 years. So we know what he is. He is not a #1 or #2 receiver. He’s not really a slot guy. He is not a gadget guy that runs jet sweeps and screens. He’s not a speed guy. He’s not even a decoy anymore. He’s not anything. He just sucks away a roster spot because he is utterly ineffective at whatever he does. I guess maybe what you might compare him to is owning a super expensive and powerful convertible, when you live in Siberia. It will give you a good ride one time per year. But it otherwise costs a ton of money and takes up space in your garage.
  24. Comparing McKenzie and Watkins is like apples and oranges. Not similar players at all. I think a guy like McKenzie on this team though would have more of an impact than Watkins would.
