  1. You shouldn't talk about Teddy Kennedy that way. You do know that Kennedy was the one that wrote the legislation, right?
  2. Alex was fired. For 90% of the board room, it looked like Tana was going to get fired, but she made a pretty good case for herself in her final statements which swung the Trumpster to attacking Alex and firing him.
  3. That is the first thing I thought, as well.
  4. There is no question the king is creepy. The commercial with the person waking up with the king in their bed was just spooky. I do not see it, however, as targeting African-Americans in those commercials.
  5. Yeah, that was stupid. He is trying to pander too much to the Dems and it will bite him in the arse. By the time Congress gets through with this, it will be even more f'ed up than it is now.
  6. I am against that as well. My guess is that he is tossing a bone to "the electorate is too stupid to manage their own money and need the government to tell them how to invest" crowd. That is the usual argument against private accounts, so my theory is that he is doing this to soothe those concerns. In essence, they are quasi-private accounts since you really do not have full control over your money.

  8. I do not have the quotes off the top of my head, but I think people have been using SS as a campaign issue since before Gore. It was like Medicare and welfare. Everyone agreed that there is a severe problem and that it needed to be address. It basically amounted to pandering for political points with no actual intention to do anything about it. Bush is actually trying to fix SS. Whether his plan is good or not has yet to be seen, but he has gone farther than just the rhetoric of the previous candidates. Who knows if Gore would have actually tried to impliment the lock box idea. Maybe yes. Maybe no.
  9. Both parties have siphoned off SS to feed their need to spend. Bush is no different then the Reps and Dems before him. SS is going to fail. It was a program destined to fail from the beginning and we are reaping the "benefits" of political mismanagement right now. The only thing not certain is exactly when the program will collapse (the year constantly changes). Fix it now or pay a larger price in the future. My choice: phase it out completely. I want my money in my control, not the control of the politicians.
  10. What was I thinking? They have had such a good track record with investing my money for me. How could I ever compete with their "success?"
  11. ...but...but...but...he hasn't had a fair trial yet. He could still be innocent. He needs to exhaust endless appeals before any sentence can be carried out and then there could still be some doubt. What are the chances that he was not fairly represented or that the jury pool was tainted?
  12. I do not remember seeing that or hearing it implied anywhere. The point I have been seeing is that the private accounts will take your money out of the hands of the politicians and put it in your control. It is basically creating another IRA type thingy where you have control of how it is invested.
  13. Exactly. See the plan before commenting on the plan. It is one thing to comment on the idea of private accounts, but scaring the old people into thinking that Bush is going to break into your house and steal everything you own is just stupid until you see his plan. Then comment according to the details of the plan.
  14. Good. It will benefit the Iraqi people.
  15. Consider it done.
  16. ...or you could give it to the Iraqi people. Imagine what a couple hundred thousand could do for the people of that country and the good will it would impart.
  17. NOTE: I did not see the story, so my only point of reference is JSPs description. Why should they keep part of the money? Did they find it while doing their jobs? If a cop finds a bunch of cash while on the job, should he be allowed to keep part of it or turn it in?
  18. My wife is celebrating. She hated Constantine.
  19. I saw first hand that the wave power technology is improving. It is not at the point where it can power a city, but it can power a building. It is also being used to power off-shore devices like monitoring stations for intel gathering. These stations are positioned in hostile waters and changing the batteries is a dangerous job. With wave technology, it dramatically cuts down the amount of times required to enter that hostile territory because it is not relying on the batteries for power. Pretty much deploy it and forget it.
  20. Yup, which is why it amazes me that PACs and representatives can speak with such specifics when bashing the plan that does not yet exist.
  21. When I was looking for a new job last year, I interviewed with a company who turns the motion of the ocean waves into electricity. Interesting technology and the company is rapidly expanding.
  22. You hide it well.

  24. Whoaaaa...hold on Sparkey. Are you trying to tell me that with reduced government interference, we can reduce the cost of items in the private sector?
  25. Bush seems to have a passing glance at addressing nukular power in his latest plan, but he still is more focused on conventional technologies.
