  1. I vote YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sherman seems like he has the right temperment to come into this crazy situation. We need someone with experience who knows how he wants things done....Not someone who is still figuring this whole head coach thing out. Sherman will know what he needs to be successful and has the experience and confidence to tell Ralph and Marv what he needs. Bringing along some of his assistant coaches wouldn't be a bad thing, either.
  2. I'm torn......As a Hawkeye grad/fan, I want him to stay at Iowa, but I'd love to see what he could do with my Bills.... Ferentz article about NFL
  3. I love the ad...I think it is really well done and sums it up for Bills fans, as well as for fans of many other hard-luck teams as well. All I can say is that it will be that much more sweet when we win it all.....
  4. This isn't quoting him exactly, but I loved this one.... The past is history, the future is a mystery, what’s happening now is a gift, and that’s why they call it the present.
  5. I should know this, but how did Ralph make his money, anyways?
  6. Not sure if you are into this kind of thing, but there is a wonderful botanical/sculpture park there called Meijer Gardens. I haven't been there in the winter, but I bet they have some things going on. It's been raining cats and dogs here in SW Michigan, so bring your umbrella! If you are downtown, go to the B.O.B. (Big Old Building) for a casual dinner.
  7. "The Flashlight" goes out. One of my favorite players in the NFL. I'll miss him.
  8. o Iowa St. is decent, but in the rivalry game, you gotta go with the home team (not to mention they are 8th in the country.) Just so you know, the game is at Iowa State, in Ames. Still have to go with my Hawkeyes, though.
  9. Hey IowaBill- How did you end up in the VI? I'm a Hawkeye grad, as is my husband.
  10. $3.48 here in SW Michigan today (Thursday).
  11. OK, college football fans...Let's get some discussion going on the upcoming season. I'm fired up about my Iowa Hawkeyes, although we have some questions about our defensive line. I'm sure Kirk Ferentz and Norm Parker will do thier magic and find the right combination to do the trick. I don't think they like to be rated so high, though. It's been nice to come up and surprise people... We have Michigan at home this year, but OSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin on the road. That game at Iowa State won't be a pushover, either. I'm excited about Drew Tate, our junior QB, who reminds a lot of people of Doug Flutie....His big play on the last play of the bowl game vs. LSU did a lot to add to that comparison. Watch him closely this year. Does anyone think that Florida is rated much too high considering they have a new coach? I'm thinking that Urban Meyer is not as great as people want to believe.
  12. I was thinking of heading over to Chicago for the preseason game (We live in SW Michigan) but I don't have tickets yet. What do you guys suggest I do about getting tix...Do you think I'll be able to get reasonably priced tickets outside the stadium before the game or should I just buy some on stubhub or something. I'd really love to see a game in Soldier Field, and for it to be the Bills on top of that...WOW!
  13. Next week, my family and I are going down the Main Salmon River in Idaho. 90 miles in four days...camping along the way. The rapids are supposed to be III/IV, so not as intense as yours, but since we are beginners, it's probably a good thing. The outfitter will provide the tents and make the meals, so it's the best way to camp! We're going to go see Glacier NP before the raft trip, so we're heading out on Saturday. Can't wait!
  14. Does anyone know where I should go to get tickets to the Bills/Bears preseason game at Soldier Field? I checked Stubhub but none are listed as of yet. Will it be pretty easy to get ahold of tickets or should I be looking to pick some up quick? Do you think I could get some on the day of the game for cheaper? I live in SW Michigan so I'm itching to get over to see the Bills in Chicago. Thanks
  15. I don't have a problem with what Haslett said. Rather, I commend him for being one of the few athletes who are being honest about this whole situation and telling the truth. The only way for professional sports to get cleaned up is for more people coming out in the open, discussing what went on and working on making sure it can't happen again. To pretend it didn't happen just delays progress on the issue. As far as calling others out on it, as long as the knowledge of the other guy using is factual (and not speculation) I say go ahead and call them out.
  16. I thought about adding that to my post...I've read it too, and I agree....a pretty cool book, although a bit creepy. That era must have been amazing to live in, especailly incities like Buffalo and Chicago.
  17. If you haven't read the novel "The City of Light", go get it. It's a historical fiction set in the era of the Pan-Am and Buffalo's highest point. Lots of cool info about setting up the Pan Am, getting electricity from the Falls, and the assassination of McKinley. Very good read.
  18. And I forgot....Wind Cave National Park is close by and very cool. It's amazing how dark it gets when the guide shuts off the lights...
  19. We went to the Black Hills for a family vacation just a couple of years ago. Our kids were 11 and 9 at the time. It was a great trip for all of us and I'd recommend it to anyone. Corn Palace- Strange, but you've got to see it. Wall Drug- Famous tourist trap, another must-see to believe. Badlands- Incredible vistas...hard to imagine settlers making their way through here. Custer State Park- Awesome! We stayed at the Blue Bell Lodge/Cabins. They had newly renovated cabins that we nicer than many hotel rooms I've stayed in. I highly recommend getting one of these. Take the open air jeep tours to see the bison herds. It's well worth it. Take the scenic drives in your own car up to the Lake and go for a swim. (Can't remember the name) There's a nice lodge up there for dinner and very cool needle formations on the drive. Mt. Rushmore- Must see. Crazy Horse Monument - Must see.
  20. We were originally booked to stay at one of the moderate resorts when we went in 2001. However, after lull in travelling after the the terrorist attacks, they closed down a couple of resorts and bumped us up to the Deluxe Beach Club. We had a wonderful stay and just loved the location. We were right at the entrance to the International part of Epcot, so we could go down there every night to watch the fireworks and check out all the countries a little at a time. We could walk over to the Boardwalk to check stuff out and even to MGM (a little farther though) without too much trouble. (There was also a boat shuttle to go there.) They had busses to get to the other parks, but we would sometimes just go through Epcot and pick up the tram. At the resort itself is this incredible sand-bottom swimming pool, that is really like 7 pools intertwined together. We loved the Beach resort and were so glad to have been upgraded to this great location.
  21. Hey, rastabillz and tigerj- You guys might enjoy a book I just read, called "Issac's Storm" by Erik Larson. It's about the hurricane of 1900 that nearly destroyed Galveston. Very interesting look into the history of weather forcasting and the life of a weather specialist back in 1900.
