Coach Doug to Da'Rick - That's not being a Buffalo Bill
JoeF replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this was: Jauron- "I have to watch the tape to understand the situation." Gailey- "I tried to get over their but it was tough to get there quickly." Mularkey - "Da'Rick took the sails out of Brooks wind. Want a Cheeseburger?" Greggo- "I offered Brooks a ten spot to take him out on the next play. You know -- kill the head." -
Coach Doug to Da'Rick - That's not being a Buffalo Bill

Da'Rick Rogers OTA Superstar!!!! Apparently the defense has been jawing all week -- so that probably was part of it. I also like the fact that it sends two messages: - The kid has to be better than everyone else because of his past transgressions - It also says as atlbillsfan1975 pointed out very astutely that Marrone sees awesome talent in the kid and will support him with tough love when needed. If Rogers is smart enough to figure this out that bond between coach and player could become really tight and that's great for the Bills. -
Coach Doug to Da'Rick - That's not being a Buffalo Bill

Its a different culture driven by a different leader -- everyone will have an opinion whether they like it or not. Some will say its a game and games are about fun and expression. Others will say its a profession and you should play with passion but within the rules and in a professional manner. I go back to Marv Levy-- not known as a disciplinarian -- but he always said -- Act like you have been there before... -
Da'Rick made a great catch today in practice over Ron Brooks but then stood over Brooks to celebrate. Apparently immediately Coach went over to "counsel Da'Rick on more appropriate behavior" Here was how Coach described it to the media--this is his quote on Da'Rick as reported by Mark Gaughan : "I thought today was probably a better day for him than what he's had. I think it shows that he has the ability to do it. He needs to make sure that we see it consistently. "The thing that concerned me -- and I addressed it with him right after he made a very good catch, then he kind of stood there over a player, and that’s a 15-yard penalty -- that's not what being a pro is, and that's not playing like a Buffalo Bill. "I told him, 'Is this going to be something we're going to have to be concerned about with handling any type of success from you?' That’s what I told him. I looked at him in his eye, and he understood that. And it's good to end on a good note cuz now you're excited to see what he can do when we come back to the mandatory minicamps."

J.J. Watt/terrific player and better person
JoeF replied to JohnC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kemp is an Oklahoma City native -- tweeted last night that he is donating $1000 for every home run he hits between now and the all-star break for tornado recovery efforts. This was after he hit one last night for the first $1K. There are so many good people in sports...someone else posted its more hits, views, reads to focus on the bad -- but every once in while its nice to focus on the acts of kindness of great people involved in the games we love. -
Must have been a helluva weekend...Manuel must be amazing...

What is this concept called adjustments? It seems to be foreign to this team... -
Thanks BB -- the guy never had a spring practice because of track. Folks don't realize how much of a deterrent this is to playing time in the fall -- but he was an Olympic caliber sprinter and long jumper and you can't fault him for that choice. The fact that he was important at all to UT in the fall is a testament that he has skill. On Rogers -- Buddy knows Tennessee college football almost better than anyone in the NFL. He is close to the Dooley's and close to Watson Brown. If anyone got insights no one else got access to - its Buddy. Hopefully Rogers has turned his life.

If we are going to run a version of the run and shoot (KGun) -- we need 4 and small are quick are the best. Look at the Houston Gamblers stats from 1985--- Richard Johnson wr 18 103 1384 14 13.44 76.9 5.7 0.8 7.36 0 Clarence Verdin wr 18 84 1004 9 11.95 55.8 4.7 0.5 9.33 0 Gerald McNeil wr 18 58 1017 6 17.53 56.5 3.2 0.3 9.67 0 Sam Harrell rb 18 51 491 2 9.63 27.3 2.8 0.1 25.50 0 Ricky Sanders wr 18 48 538 7 11.21 29.9 2.7 0.4 6.86 0 Scott McGhee wr 18 47 671 3 14.28 37.3 2.6 0.2 15.67 0 5 receivers with 47 or more catches -- 3 with 1000 yards or more. If I recall all of these receivers were below 6' tall all were lightning quick. The game has changed some but the concept of small quick receivers holds true in this quick read offense. You horizontally stretch the field -- defense cannot defend everyone and the QB gets the ball out quick. Then when the D comes up to close you go down the field. Kelly missed I think missed 4 games that year and still had amazing stats.

I think this opens up Nassib to Buffalo
JoeF replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Original post from John is good. No matter how the draft flows there is going to be a stud defender or a potential OLT still on the board at 8. Rather than being forced to draft a QB there is now flexibility. There are some deals I would do...the 49ers still need help along the Interior DL (They got hurt a lot when Justin Smith was out) and the Secondary, particularly at Safety where they lost their best player. Would you trade 8 for 31, 34 and 62 -- its almost perfect on the value chart. This would give the Bills 4 picks in the first 62 -- that's the QB of the future, Interior OL, WR and ILB--getting a top 5 at each position. Plus probably a damn good TE in Rd. 3. -

If they aren't going to accomplish anything in Congress we may as well elect some hot women....

Each of the 3 added a good degree of humor too. Don't discount the fact that Graham has great wit; Lori is an encyclopedia of sports knowledge but never afraid to toss in a funny retort and AJ -- will always appreciate that Focker.... Folks get tired, they leave, they come back -- I think the suckification of the Bills the last decade plus has sapped our sense of humor. We shouldn't let it. We are bound by a loyalty to the Bills and that, in some sense, makes us family -- the good, the bad--but always family.

Bills FO not the only ones that screw up! ELWAY (not)
JoeF replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Administratively - the Bills are pretty darn strong with Jim Overdorf handling this part of the operation. Its the strategy and talent evaluation part with which the Bills seem to have trouble. -
Sad we can't all be civil with one another when we all share a common passion. You would think this would be 95% fun but its more like 60% attack. (Someone will now tell me to go !@#$ myself)....

Thanks for the posts Ronaldo..we are working on a couple of things that have potential for the Triangle and the Olympic movement. You are right--its going to take years -- but its worth it. Stay tuned -- might be bidding for something major to host within the next decade. Also, working on something to cement Doc's memory -- hopefully that will happen this year.

Was actually trying to bold players that Marrone would have seen last year... but posted before I finished. -
Who are the Jacksonville Jaguars coordinators? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/19/jaguars-hire-bob-babich-jedd-fisch-as-coordinators/ Stop !@#$ing whining about who Marrone hired because none of us know ****. Whine in September when we crap the bed and say you knew it all along, or celebrate when we win and say you knew Marrone put together a great staff.

Steady rise every year in entrants with a lower percentage every year drafted. In 2012, 44 of 65 were drafted, for a success rate 67.6 percent. In 2011, the rate was 76.7 percent, with 43 of 56 picked. In 2010, 86.7 percent were picked — 46 of 53. In 2009, the rate was 89.1 percent. -
