  1. Agreed. It's the prudent thing to do as long as there is a viable replacement. 13m for Gilmore just wouldn't have been worth it for us with how deep this class is at CB. Indeed, but I think we need a bigger body like Davis anyhow.
  2. Same. Only one on that list I would not want at 10.
  3. I liked JWill going into last season but he's looked lousy in his opportunities so far.
  4. I mean, we've seen the value of good depth players... I'd prefer we match, but our OL can open up holes for any 5th round draftee. I still think Gillislee is better than an average backup and we should strongly consider matching. But if they have a good plan in the draft for a backup lets roll with it. I just don't want to see Shady go down for any amount of time and have to rely on JWill or some lousy late round pick.
  5. Man I wish the Sabres could have landed Babcock.
  6. Worth noting only three options have been picked up so far league wide. Plenty of good players from that draft still waiting.
  7. Stick a fork in the Jackets. Blew a 2 goal lead at home and lost in OT.
  8. Great resilient win by the Sens today!
  9. CBJ dominating play early and then a disastrous miscue leads to the Pens scoring on their only shot on goal so far...
  10. Agreed. Obviously the issue here is the health. I'm just spitballing here, really.
  11. I see a couple possibilities here: 1) The team would rather see how the year plays out with that foot and if all goes well, just work on an extension midseason, or worst case scenario tag him and work on an extension in the offseason 2) The team is considering drafting a new WR1 in the first with the expectation to cut ties with Sammy after this season or look to deal him like the Patriots did with Chandler Jones. It is even possible that they are fielding offers or making offers themselves to gain picks in this upcoming draft.
  12. Don't wanna lose the guy, to the pats no less, but let's wait and see how it plays out.
  13. I am not feeling good about their chances based on their play down the stretch. But I am rooting for them. CBJ or Ottawa in the east. Anybody but Chicago in the West makes me happy too. And if you aren't watching because the Sabres are out, you are missing out. Playoff hockey is the best.
  14. Shareece was a beast in pass and run defense. I was impressed with him in particular that game.
  15. Fair. A team in our position would have to to make the deal worth it. I think more likely the teams looking to trade for Sherman would be competitors looking for a short term rental (New England almost certainly would not extend him).
  16. Right, but are you assuming we extend Sherman for an additional three years? And totally, if we trade down that far I would be down with trading for Sherman.
  17. Not sure what you mean. Give or take, you get 5 years of play from the rookie for the same cost as 2 years of Sherman. His contract expires after 2018. Is he going to re-sign with us? Not necessarily. And if he did, would it be for $3-4m per year? No way. Re-signing the draftee is a concern that's too far in the future to worry about right now. Sherman is good, but how many CBs maintain elite performance into their mid 30s? That's another concern I'd have. I should clarify that I am not against acquiring Sherman, I just don't think the #10 pick is fair value for us.
  18. It's money and also, theoretically, five years of solid play. You get a top CB who is younger than Sherman for a longer period of time for less money. No way you trade a pick that high.
  19. If one of the top 4-5 teams picks a QB, I can see all three going quickly in a domino effect sort of way. Still unlikely to me at this point.
  20. Thanks for putting this together!
  21. I can see a few scenarios where we land him. At 10 would be easy but he would likely be available in a trade down as well.
  22. Drafting Howard is not admitting Clay was a mistake. It's adding another multipurpose weapon. Would be useful in both the run and pass game. Might not be filling a hole but it certainly might be BPA and a guy who would contribute immediately. No backs in the first!
  23. I think you're right that the best teams don't spend lots of high picks on receivers. I see a posible scenario where Davis is the BPA at a position of weakness is all. If the safeties, Foster and Howard are all off the board at 10 and we can't find a trade partner, I don't know who else would be worth that pick for us than one of the top receivers. Maybe we reach slightly on a CB like Conley who I've seen mocked as high as the 10-15 range, or possibly Lattimore is there at 10 if all those other aforementioned names are off. But again I see a lot of good quality DBs in round 2. Are we gonna go CB and S in rounds 1 and 2? It's possible.
