Astro was a valued poster here for his detailed training camp reports. I can't recall a time he had a scoop on anything though. But, of course, my curiosity is piqued.

Watkins was a move to get us some draft capital. We will see how his career plans out but it's a move we needed to make for the bug picture. Goodwin left before Beane was here and I'm sure he wanted a change of scenery, or SF offered him a better deal than us based on potential. Goodwin wasn't fully committed to football when he was with us and now he is and he is playing well. It's kind of revisionist history to say it was a mistake to let him walk.

I think there is a difference between flipping an underperforming top 5 pick with one year left on his deal for a 2nd and acquiring an underperforming top 15 pick with a possible 3 years left on his deal for a late round pick. It's more on the economics side of the game. Sammy is still the better player, but both guys played with less than stellar QBs and both have had injuries get in the way. And as we see the bigger picture stuff unfold - trading away players to get draft capital so that we can take Allen and Edmunds - I feel like that justifies those types of moves. Just need to get the right guys. Last year was a good start. Let's see how this one plays out.

They absolutely will not cut bait on Jones already. This trade does not change anything. They loved Jones and traded up for him. Receivers often struggle in their rookie seasons. He gets another shot this year and I will say I am much happier with KB, Jones, Kerley and Coleman to round them out. Indeed. Gonna come down to coaching here. I think this group can be passable especially if our QB can get the ball out on time for once.
