  1. Not sure if he knows what he is talking about but this former Bill doesn't think his stock is dropping. He actually thinks the opposite. National Football Post In the end I don't think it matters unless there is a trade. Pettigrew probably won't be taken at 11 and he won't be around in the 2nd round. I do think it is funny that some want to not take Pettigrew because they think he is too one dimensional but think the solution to our TE would be taken a more one dimensional TE in the second or third.
  2. Have you watched him play lately? He is a safety who cannot cover anyone.
  3. Pettigrew was arrested the summer before his senior year. There was a party and the cops game. There have been different reports of what happened. Some say it was overreaction by a college town cop. Either way Pettigrew pushed the cop and that is a no non. Bone headed move on his part and he was arrested. I don't remember the details but the charges were either reduced or dropped completely. It was a very stupid move on Pettigrew's part but it was a one time deal. He has never had any other displine problems during college and was a team leader. I really don't think character is a concern. I'm as big of a Pettigrew fan as there is. Honestly, I don't care what his 40 time is, the guy is not slow. He isn't a burner who is going to streak down the field and anyone who drafts him will realise that. He is an amazing blocker with great hands. I don't know if the Bills should take him at No. 11 but I do think he is hands down the best pure TE in the draft and will be a good player in the league for a long time.
  4. You willing to bet that barring an injury that he still isn't the first TE taken? Did you honestly think he was going to be a 4.6 kind of guy? He was always going to be a mid to late first round pick and still is projected to go there so how is his stock dropping?
  5. I'm sorry but that just isn't true. There could not have been a scout in the NFL who expected Pettigrew to blow everyone away with his 40 time. He has never been a speed TE who was going to stretch the field like some other guys. He is a great blocker, with good hands. Pettigrew did nothing to help his draft status but he also did nothing to hurt it. Personally, I never thought he was a real option to any team in the top 15. I've always thought he was going to be picked in the 20s. Barring an injury he is still going to be the first TE picked.
  6. Pettigrew was hurt much of the past year. His junior season the Big 12 Coaches voted him All-Big 12 over guys like Coffman, Rucker and Gresham. I'm not sold on the Bills drafting him with the 11th pick but wouldn't be too upset either. The fact of the matter is that he is by far the best TE in this draft but the Bills have other needs also. Pettigrew won't be there in the second. As far as the character concerns, Pettigrew screwed up once in his college career. Other than that incident he has not been in any other off the field incidents. He is a great lockerroom guy also. I wish there was a better video on youtube of this play, but check out the link below at the 3 minute mark. This is not the best angle for the play I have seen but it is the only one on youtube. Pettigrew (he is No. 87) makes one of the most impressive plays by a TE to win a game I have ever seen. He makes a great catch, out runs 3 or 4 defenders and stiff arms a couple more to go about 50 yards for a go ahead score with under a minute left. Also, if anyone read Peter Kings' MMQB this Monday he quotes a scout who said Pettigrew was one of the top 3 players he saw at the senior bowl. Pettigrew
  7. Couldn't be further from the truth. He put himself in a bad position once. There is no doubt about that. He has had no other mess ups and has been a model teammate and team leader.
  8. In the games I watched I never saw him line up at TE. They used him as a big reciever. Maybe there are some Mizou fans around here who know a lot more about it. I'm not saying he can't play TE in the pros, he just didn't play the traditional TE role in college. Still a great, great player.
  9. I hear ya. Pettigrew missed three games with injury. In three less games he actually caught more passes than he did his Jr. year. However, he didn't score a TD and his YPC was down. There is no doubt he wasn't as explosive his Sr. year. His blocking however was probably even better thanhis Jr. year.
  10. Gresham isn't much of a blocker and defintely isn't the brightest player in the world (most around here thought there was no chance he would qualify out of high school). He is an extremely gifted pass catcher and would defintely be and upgrade. The guy is a beast in the RedZone and OU did an outstanding job of showcasing him this season. Coffman is easily the best pass catching tightend this year. The only thing that worries me is that he NEVER lined up as a TE for Mizzou. Every play of every game I watched this year he was split out. I don't think he has much blocking experience at all. Pettigrew is an animal when it comes to blocking. The guy is great at it and loves to do it. Honestly, Gresham and Coffman are not even on the same planet in this aspect. Pettigrew has good hands, not as good as Coffman, but still pretty good. He is big and athletic. He seemed a lot more explosive his jr. year. This year he had some injuries so maybe that hampered his big play potential. Also, OSU did a horrible job of showcasing him. I guess it just depends what the Bills want. If you want a pure pass catcher you take Coffman. If you want a redzone threat with huge potential I think you go Gresham. If you want a great blocker who can also contribute in the passing game you go Pettigrew. I don't think the Bills can go wrong with any of the three.
  11. Actually, Oklahoma City was recently named the most recession proof city in the nation. The economy here is doing really well. I'm excited to finally get a major league team here. I really feel for the fans of Seattle but at the same time no real effort to keep the team has been made and I think the vast majority of the city was apthetic. That is not the case in Buffalo.
  12. You guys do understand that it is not like WR are getting picked left or right. It looks like the Bills will get one of the top 3-4 WR in the draft with their second round pick.
  13. Yeah the SuperSonics are coming to OKC. I think the Hornets struggled early with attendance but it has picked up in the last couple of months.
  14. They were talking about him on the local sports talk station in OKC and it was kind of interesting. First they said he has pretty much decided it is best for him to concentrate on being a saftey. I guess that is what scouts are telling him. They also said he is one of the biggest enigmas of any player they have ever said. They stated if you asked 20 people abotu him 10 would think he was amazing and 10 would think he is not very good. He was moved around a lot at OU (due to necassity). To me he is a tweener. He is a solid corner but not great. Same way at safety.
  15. I agree but Lofton shaved about one second off his time at OU's pro day. It was held on a surface that is closer to what is run at the combine and most NFL surfaces. It is the same surface OU has run on the past several testing so it shouldn't have been a surprise to Kelly. Kelly claimed he ran a 4.5 ont he surface as a freshman and OU's strength coach backed that up.
  16. Word down here is that he also got into it with the coaching staff in front of the scouts. Apparently, he is not happy with them. He didn't like the surface that was run on. The local sports talk guy also mentioned that the Bills staff spent a lot of time with Kelly after the workout trying to convince him it wasn't that big of a deal.
  17. Exactly, I'm as big of a Bowman fan as there is (I went to Oklahoma State) but this is just stupid. It is not about smoking weed. It is the fact that you have been killing your draft status with bad workouts and then this (after you've been busted before). I don't want him anywhere near the Bills.
  18. Thanks for posting the article. I hadn't seen that. Bowman did play for OSU's basketball team his junior season. He didn't play a ton but he got into some games.
  19. I only really post on threads about Bowman but I've watched about every game of his at OSU. The kid makes plays period. I'm shocked at how badly his measurables have been but somebody is going to get a steal in the third round or so. I don't remember all the details but he was kicked off the team before any charges were filed against him (weed related) and charges were never filed.
  20. Sorry but I don't know where you are getting this never played well in big games. Here were his stats last season against the best teams on OSU's schedule. @ Georgia- 4-64 yards and a touchdown Texas Tech- 6-81 yards @ Texas A&M- 7-142 and 2 touchdowns @ Nebraska 6-100 Kansas State 6-81 Texas 7-108 and 1 touchdown Kansas 4-22 (this is the game he got hurt in. This is the team he burned for 300 yards his junior season) Bowl game vs. Indiana (his first game back from injury) 6-74 and 1 touchdown. He didn't play against OU. You can say a lot about Bowman but I don't think not showing up for big games is not one of them.
  21. Bowman was kicked out of UNC because of weed. I'm not saying it isn't bad but it is not like it was anything violent. Also, all charges against him were dropped. He was never charged with anything. Basically, the way I understand it (this is coming from the Oklahoma State perspective so if there are any UNC fans on the board please correct me). He got charged with something weed related. The coach jumped to conclusions and kicked him off the team.
  22. First let me say I'm a huge Bowman fan. I watched every snap his last two seasons at OSU. He has dropped like a rock because he hasn't tested well. It baffles me because the guy looks like some freak genetic expirement. I knew he wouldn't blow anybody away with his 40 but I didn't think he would run that bad. The knock on him has always been his hands. He dropped balls occasionally at OSU (I don't think it was a huge problem but it was one area of concern). His game reminds me a lot of TO (I'm not saying he is the next TO). He is big, strong and will drop a ball every once in a while. However he is a touchdown machine. His 40 time isn't great but he sure looks fast enough on the field. I rarely, if ever, saw him brought down but one player. He either scores a TD, gets pushed out of bounds or gets brought down by 2 players. I used to think he would be a great pick for the Bills in the second round. The way he has performed in the workouts looks like 2nd round is too high. However, IMO someone will get a steal when they pick him up in the middle rounds. Also, I don't care what anybody says I don't think there is a better blocking WR in this draft. I don't think it is even close. Here are some highlights from his junior season: http://www.bowman12.com/video.html.
