The thing is, the St Doug thing didn't just happen today. The story was written today to help bolster a story speculating about Marrone's outrage. This is the kind of thing you expect from ET and other celebrity reporting. Are some Bills fans so entirely clueless to think this means anything? It's fodder to increase readership. It's useless scandal. Try to be above garbage like this.

That someone who understood the context took offense. As far as you know, the person who told the reporter didn't convey the context, or didn't know about it. The extent to which you, and some other posters, will go to take shots at someone knows no bounds. This is completely inconsequential, even if it wasn't a joke. If the guy wins, nobody will care, even if he were serious. If he loses it won't matter if it was a joke. Lighten up man. This means exactly nothing.

Sorry, I'm just not convinced any of that is true. Have a sense of humor, for Christ's sake.

Seriously though. Sunday is what it is: The first game of the season. One game. Maybe a tad more important than many first games, as the Bills want to prove something, but really not much more important than most first games. Let's not undervalue, nor overvalue, the importance of the game.

Not totally unreasonable. My guess is, since Pegula is a smart businessman, he will evaluate the top guys individually. If he thinks Marrone had the talent to win, but squandered it, Marrone will (and should) go but Whaley stays. If the season is a total clusterfu#k then perhaps he cleans house. If the team finishes strong, maybe they get a reprieve. If they start strong but are devastated by injuries to top players, who knows? Brandon might be safe because he isn't a football guy, but a marketing guy. Unless it is to make a statement, his job is likely the safest, IMO.

The guys currently running the team haven't been here for 14 years. Whaley and Marrone have only been here 2 and 1 year respectively. Thinking the culture of the past somehow reflects on them is nuts. Using your logic, the new owner would not only have to clean house, he (or she) would have to change the name of the team, and maybe move it somewhere else.

Of course! No, seriously, I'm not a trouble maker. I tip very well. But I do expect a certain level of service. Examples: We are in a bar that has music in the evening. There is a calendar of the bands on the wall, but the calendar ends at the end of the month, and this day was the 1st (or 2nd) of the next month. "Do you know who is playing tonight?" was my question, "No" was the answer. That's it. Just "no". Not , "No, but let me see if I can find out." Not, "No, the manager doesn't post the band list until later today." Just, "no". Hell. LIE to me, Pretend to try to find out. of you're too lazy to actually do it. Another example, another bar (surprise!). "Can I have a cold glass with my beer?" "No" was the answer. WTF? You have glasses and I know you have ice. Have you never made a martini? Don't you know how to chill a freaking glass? Totally unacceptable to me. The place was dead except for us. At the hotel, we asked the front desk guy a question (I forgot what it was now, but it was the kind of thing you'd expect the front desk to know.) "I don't know." Was the answer. Not, "I don't know, but I'll see if I can find out for you," This kind of thing happened again, and again, in restaurants, bars and hotels. And when we'd meet up with others in the group (not nearly as obnoxious as I) they had the same kind of experiences. I don't get it. These are people in the service industry. Many of them rely on tips. The requests weren't hard, or obnoxious, or out of the ordinary (or at least I don't think they are). We were a bunch of very personable people (men and women) who tend to make friends when we travel I can't explain it. I have talked to others who have had similar experiences in Seattle. Then again, I have talked to people who had a great time (I had a great time, too, no thanks to the people in Seattle) with no complaints. Maybe they didn't ask for anything.

How is that different from what anyone says? Everyone thinks EJ has to show marked improvement---even EJ. The differences may lie in their optimism for that happening, but there is nothing in the quote to suggest Brandon is more, or less, optimistic than the others.

Exactly. No other OC ever calls that play to begin a game. So, if the play is something other than that, the OC can keep his job?

Well, the music coming out of Seattle is very much that. And, I'd rather kill myself than listen to most of it.

C'mon, it's funny. It has to be said as a joke. I think it should stick, for better or worse, I agree the HC is a major management position. I actually think it is higher than a Director position (depending, I suppose on what organization you are in). It is a Sr VP at least. President of a division is more like it, I think. Could be the bean counters, but I doubt it. I think they were actively trying to sign him, but Orton was standing pat, and waiting. The argument could have been about that (unless is really was about Monos). Whaley could have been explaining he can't make Orton sign, or sign any faster, and he got them Palmer for the week. "Pick his brain on the Bears. Let him have a sit down or two with EJ. Maybe he won't suck so bad. And I'm still working on Orton!" All speculation of course. In the end they probably spent more than they had hoped, but far less than it might have cost them to sign him months earlier, while he was still "weighing his options."

Not bellyaching. Just trying to figure out the rules. You will notice others didn't complain, but it's clear some didn't understand, based on a number of their guesses.

Listen dearie. Marrone is a lot further up the food chain than the PR guy. And, believe it or not, HC is a MAJOR management position. It's possible that Whaley asked Marrone to do something, on the advice of PR. Brandon may have. But Brandon's not "the PR dept". The PR dept reports to him. I can almost guarantee you the PR doesn't tell Marrone what to do. If anything, the orders to the other way. Get your org chart straight,

It's a tough job to do well. It's not all that hard to do it at the level of these mooks.
