1. Calling Christopher Hitchens "a lefty" is more outrageous a thought than "a lefty for Bush" although I am sure there are some that exist, I have just never seen or met one. Calling Hitchens "a lefty" is like calling Zell Miller or Ron Silver or Dennis Miller a lefty. Regardless of their former incarnations, they do not resemble a lefty or think of themselves a lefty or believe in or say virtually anything "lefty".

Now, Kelly, you know I like you, right? You know I respect (some) of your opinions, yes?

BUT COME ON! The guy writes for the Nation!! Probably THE most liberal rag in the country! You don't get on staff there by being anything right of well, left. <_<

  2. Read the first one first, it references the second:

    TCS.com

    WashPost

The question I have for Kerry supporters is: WHY HASN'T HE ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS?

My guess would be it's because he has no answers, only baseless and foolish criticisms. Either that or he would have acted in EXACTLY the same manner as GWB.

I especially liked the final line of the TCS article.

  3. You need to cut them some slack my friend.  Remember this thread was started by a guy who boasts of being a thief and by now he's probably hearing footsteps from the various agencies who will catch up with him some day.  The other one, well, imagine what his life must be like.

When they forget their meds, they just don't make much sense.

    Debbie, debbie, debbie.

Will you ever learn? You and Rich are the same. Only different.

  4. Let's not start throwing around stereotypes, lest someone brings up the backwoods rednecks living in Kentucky and West Virginia!  They wouldn't be in the trailer park if they had themselves a edumucation!

Statistically, however, Kerry supporters are more educated.  I think the religious right truly swings this in favor of the Republicans

So in your own words, Bush backers are LESS educated than Kerry backers because they tend to be more religious?

How is that any less stereotypical than me saying that your typical ghetto-dweller is uneducated and semi-illiterate and therefore more likely to vote Kerry?

Please enlighten me, oh articulate one.

  5. Exactly, there are uninformed voters on both sides with strong opinions.  Statistically, however, Kerry supporters are more educated.  I think the religious right truly swings this in favor of the Republicans.

That's ABSURD. Talk about inane. You DO realize that 90% of inner-city voters are Kerry supporters, right?

And ain't to many bright bulbs in the ghetto, or elese they WOULDN'T BE IN THE GHETTO.

  6. Sorry, JSP, maybe I am crazy but doesn't that article/blog that you just posted clearly and obviously put the entire blame of those missing explosives squarely on the shoulders of the Bush Administration, and the blogger even boldened the operative sentence:

    85976

Uh yeah, Knucklehead, you are crazy. that was a QUOTE FROM THE NY TIMES ARTICLE THE BLOGGER WAS EXPOSING. Please re-read it. It's even highlighted in gray so that the core of liberal politics can understand it.

  7. I see, well, I can hardly argue with your "feeling" as to what I might say in different place and in a different world.  Agaist that type of hard analysis and fact based logic grounded firmly in your imagination, I am powerless.

If you want to take issue with what I say, fine, more power to you.  I don't have the time to defend things I haven't said that you feel I might say.

In a way, that was what that whole analysis was about, dealing first with what people actually say rather than what some pundit thinks they "implied".  JSP is calling Kerry a liar without even bothering to tell us what he said that was a lie.  When you go to the actual words, it turns out he was dead on.  Lugar is welcome to say now that he didn't mean what he said but Kerry isn't required to read his mind.  I have no problem with people arguing that Kerry is making too much of an off hand comment by Lugar during the pressure of a live interview.  Calling him a "liar" though based on that incident is just overblown, bs, partisan rhetoric by a guy who really, really hates Kerry.  I think we have too much of that going around here on both sides.

If that is the standard for demonstrating that a candidate is a stone cold "liar", then I could convict all 4 of these guys in less time than it takes Chaney's heart to skip a beat.  Politicians lying??? Egads man, say it isn't so.

    85332

His was a lie of omission. He flatly stated in the debates that "prominent republicans" including Richard Lugar "agreed" with him regarding the war in Iraq.

I'd hardly say that Richard Lugar's statements bolster such a bold claim, but hey, that's just me.

  8. OK, give us an alternative.  Just this once stop the insults and offer one.  Stop telling me how dumb we all are and give us another choice.  Who should we vote for?  What should we do to make things better?

We're all ears (or in this case, eyes).  Come on, this is your chance.  No joke, I promise I will change my signature for the whole week whatever you seriously suggest.  "Vote for _______ " or whatever.  There has to be someone or something that you can back.

    84833

    Vote libertarian.

  9. Um, I suggest you broaden your horizons a bit:

Real Clear Politics.com has bush LEADING by nearly 3% in New Mexico and now leading in HAWAII fo all places.

If he takes those two states, as well as Minnesota (which has been trending in Bush's direction for a couple weeks now), he could survive losing Ohio because He'll liekly win Wisconsin and Iowa. All that would remain his victory in Florida to put the nail in Kerry.

Use RCP. Love RCP. Live for RCP, because they use AVERAGES of multiple polls in any given state.

  10. Here's the response from the Guardian:

    Guardian response

I don't really want to get involved in all this, but I will say that this article appeared in the Guide which is basically the weekly TV guide that comes with Saturday's edition. Brookers column (which I don't normally bother to read which is why I couldn't remember who he was) is normally a sarcastic review of the week's tv and the tone of the article is fairly typical of the column.

That's kinda like saying, "whoops I forgot to turn off the reactor" at Chernobyl.
