expect the opponents to come out of the Amazon Thursday game and a preselected game for early Saturday game then they trade partners to play on Xmas.  The other two Saturday games would come out of Sunday schedule flexing thrm.

other option is two teams come out of a bye.

for example….. bills vs fins on thursday, rams vs Seahawks on Saturday set for 430 pm. They flex a 130 and 8 pm gsme.

then it’s bills/fins at Seahawks/ rams for Xmas at 3 pm and 630 pm.  Bills snd fins both are on the road at rams snd seahawks.

or afc north vs nfc east this year so you could have

some combo  thurs/ sst pairs playing on Wednesday

One week it’s balt vs eagles and pit vs Dallas then other week it’s  pit- balt and Phil- dal

Thinking of all the employees that will have to spend xmas at a game...working. Used to work in sports for 7+ years and that's the #1 reason I saw my way out. Needless to say I would not attend.

pits more Xmas Eve evening/ Xmas morning is the period.

I see Xmas games occurring at 3-430 pm and 630-800  pm as their start time slots.

    3 1sts would be a non-starter for us since it’s not a QB.

2 1sts & 2 2nds is a fair starting spot IMO. Even if we had to add something else

    Bears at 9 for Nabers

    Broncos at 12 for Odunze

Seahawks at 16 for Thomas Jr

Would be more realistic move ups for us

with Brady’s connections to LSU, I’d think Nabers or Thomas Jr would be the trade up targets.

Also Brady recruited Troy Franklin even though he didn’t end up at LSU

Recall KC trade up with buffalo…..

    10 for 27+ late 3rd+1st following year

I agree…injuries killed his career and thrn thr lack of motivation playing for the Commandoes didn’t help.

Is it? If Justin Fields was any good the Chicago Bears a major market wouldn’t have gotten rid of him. I don’t see Justin Fields being a star. Is Field better than Kenny Pickett probably but there is a lot of who cares none of these guys are going to be the next Ben Roelisburger. The Pittsburgh Steelers are chasing a new franchise quarterback like the Buffalo Bills did when Jim Kelly retired. I don’t see anything the Steelers did that is better than what they had in Ben Roelisburger. It’s going to eventually cost Mike Tomlin his coaching job like it did with Bill Belichick when Tom Brady left the New England Patriots. You can’t win without an elite NFL franchise quarterback and unfortunately there is a short supply of franchise quarterbacks to go around. I think all these Steelers moves are a whole lot of nothing at the end of the day. The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots are going to have some losing like other teams in the NFL with no franchise quarterback. It’s about time let the Patriots and Steelers fans have to go 13 years without playoffs. The Patriots and Steelers haven’t been scary bad in a long time and it’s time they start losing like everyone else in the NFL in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

im not as dismissive on fields as others. Chicago has had numerous offense problems over the years.  Hoe much do you blame the team?  Similar with Pickett snd Steelers. How much of his development can be blamed on the system/staff?

That seems like bad value for Houston, no? What do the charts say? Go from 23 to 42 for basically just a second round pick next year

    It’s not

23(760) for 42(480)+ 2nd in 25 ( diff is 280 —non SB teams picks inn2nd are worth that)

as for the deal…those 2 picks get you 4OA.  They need to add something to get #3.  With it being for a QB it will likely be more.  If you are drafting a QB in the st and expect them tostart you don’t trade next years 1st

some examples— Carolina traded their 1st this year to chicago

houston traded up in 2017 with Cleveland. Cleveland got 4OA in 2018 from Houston.

KC traded pick in 2018 to buffalo but they were not starting Mahomes that year ( other than last game when things were clinched) so Buffalo got a playoff team  pick.

With Harty released and now Gabe signing with the Jags, what is the strategy/approach for WR? Are we going dumpster diving in Free Agency and then hoping we hit in the draft at WR?

Our current roster is Diggs, Shakir, Sherfield and Shorter (inactive all season). Currently not scaring anyone and probably in the bottom 10 as a WR group.

Anyone else uncomfortable? That’s a lot of pressure to hit on WR that is impactful in the draft! Do we trade up?

Thoughts or perspective on Beane’s approach?

Game day signing for the parking lot try outs….

Why do we even report on gun violence anymore? Deaths from shootings are more common than motor vehicle deaths in the US at this point, so might as well start treating it the same.

    Not understanding the point you’re making… They didn’t. In that time frame I referenced all 5 were on 1st down or 2nd down w/ 10 or < …. 🤷‍♂️

CMC had 27 yards on 7 attempts in their first 3 drives. 19 total plays on them.

That’s 36% of the plays being a run by CMC and you had success barring the fumble. Coupled that with a 3.8 YPC is the reason why it’s perplexing they went away from that.

You talk about success and rankings et cetera but the stats in that game show they didn’t run on 2nd/3rd and long but we’re successful period when they chose to run.

I like Shannahan but his choices directly led to keeping KC hanging around long enough. You lost your last SB appearance against the same by doing the same thing… Mostert ripped off a massive run on their penultimate drive which afterward he chose to make Jimmy G sling the ball 6 times in a row after that play… Turning the ball over on downs via a sack. Their final drive they had to throw the ball due to time constraints and ended up with an INT to ice it.

Kyle’s a heck of a coach but there’s a lot of questions marks for his decisions on the field without even factoring the OT coin toss…

Sorry but they blew it being up 10, not running the ball to try and burn some clock and giving Mahomes and the Chiefs some semblance of hope.

2019 season they were the #2 rushing team behind Baltimore but decided to lean on the pass in the biggest game of the season.

2023 season, #3 team in rushing with the league leader by 300 yards!!!! And again, with a lead they decided to lean on the pass to pull ahead. Mental.

The stats for the year prove they were the most successful team in a 22 personnel running the ball against a heavy box so the excuse people say “they couldn’t run on KC” was bogus. See the point about the stats over the first 3 drives before the abandoned the run game.

Shanahan knows if the teams are playing 8 in the box that he will look to throw. The team has a decent group of receivers.  They need play action. They were a full ground and pond team.

  9. Looking at nascar schedule. They race in Watkins glen later than not

rmal to be a playoff race on sept 15.

I expect bills start at home and sept 15th ( week 2) weekend on the road unless the do week 2 espn split DH MNF.or opening Amazon game on Thursday

I was in one, $20 buy in, for a fundraiser so only half would be paid out in prizes.  Got 9-9, so at the end of the 4th, would have got me $400 but they went by final score, not the end of the quarter.  Happens to me a lot.  I’ll have a win, only for a team to score right before the end of a quarter taking it away.

I got decent numbers you want but no luck. It’s $50 per square with high pay out fir final score and per minute scores.

This whole Chiefs dynasty falls on one man and one man only, in hindsight.

    Sean McDermott

He is the one who traded the pick to KC that they used to take Mahomes because he "hadn't had time to study the QB class" even though his owner wanted Mahomes.

I literally felt like he should have been fired last night for making us all endure this. If Mahomes comes to Buffalo in 2017, he never turns into the QB he did.

    flawed…

there we’re questions on Mahomes many had

would he have been a good fit here where the offense might not fit his strengths ?

To all the people talking about the third possession, while it is an advantage that is such a slim advantage. The obvious big advantage is getting the ball second and knowing what you have to do every step of the way. In a game of inches where scoring is at a premium this is a huge advantage to have so you know how to call 3rd and 4th down plays. It’s borderline criminal to take the ball first. You never give the GOAT the psychological and competitive advantage of getting the ball 2nd and knowing what you have to do. I don’t think it’s been talked about enough but you are putting immense pressure on your offense by taking the ball first and even if you score the TD you still give the other team 4 downs with their attempt. So dumb.

if you go 2nd then for it to pay off you must say if they score a TD and then I score a TD, then I’m going for 2 and the win.

in the regular season getting a TD wins the game so having the choice matters depending on your team, who they are playing, and how that day was going. If you rrm to be in a low scoring FG game with a bunch of short drives snd punts I’d be more inclined to punt and play D. If it was a back and forth high scoring game I’ll take the ball first.

  14. 11 hours ago, BBFL said:

But it was… They only rushed the ball 5 times between the FG to start the 2nd and TD in the start of the 4th…

3 of those 5 attempts were by McCaffrey. 1 by Deebo and the other by Mitchell.

KC defended the run well but you don’t abandon it when it was your bread and butter to get you to the SB…

you don’t try to run on 3rd and long or 2nd and over 10.  I can’t find rankings of 3rd and long success rates. I think buf snd kc are near the top.

  15.

I’ll put this in my early prediction…

KC at Buffalo on Sunday or Monday night in buffalo the Sunday/ Monday in between Taylors Toronto Thu-sat concerts.

brady- manning usually happened during November rating sweeps time either in prime time or a CBS DH 425 feeder into prime time

SF at buffalo on  FOX will really want as a solo 425 game ( leading into World Series)

KC at SF likely on cbs at 425.

Eagles are to play the opening week game on Friday night in Brazil. Don’t see a division foe.  I think it’s Green Bay at Philadelphia for that game.

The bigger question that needs to be asked is why they abandoned the run from the 2nd quarter until late in the 3rd…

They win that game if they stuck with it.

Baltimore did the same thing. An incredible rushing team just mailing it in even after immediate success…

    it wasn’t like you described.

drive 1 the go down the field and fumble

Drive 2 penalties kills drive cresting a 2nd and 27.  Punt

drive 3 1st and 10 on kc 33 , lost 4 on run, kick FG

drive 4 ball deep in own end. First 2 runs no game, 3rd and 9, punt

    drive 5 TD

drive 6 end of half kneel down

drive 7 got turnover and did nothing. They threw

drive 8 first play for big loss. 3 and out Punt

drive 9 first down run no gain, 2 passes then punt

drive 10 lost on punt touch/ fumble turnover

    drive 11 TD

drive 12 FG on 2nd and 5 they could have ran it on plays before 2 min and the play after 3 min.  I would have thrown for 1st down at 3rd and 5+ because getting a first could have meant winning the game.

I have no idea why any coach would take the ball first in overtime in the playoffs. If your defense is supposedly that good and you trust them to get a stop, kick it. Let them get the stop, force a punt and get better field position and higher chances for getting the requisite yards for a FG

If your defense stinks and will just allow a TD anyways, you know exactly what you need on offense and have four downs per set of downs to achieve it. Plus if you do score a TD, and your defense stinks, just go for 2 and win the game with your offense and don’t give the other team another chance once it goes to sudden death.

It doesn’t seem like a cosmic idea to me. What do I know.

in regular season if you have confidence in your D you kick off, you kick off. Play strong D stop them and then get ball and kick a FG.  If you have a strong offense like buffalo/ kc or you fear the other teams offense, you get the ball first to get a TD and win

in the playoffs it’s not TD snd win, they get the ball. Sure you can play the game of see what thry get first, thrn if it’s a TD you have every intent on going for 2 if you get a TD.

remember…If KC was held to a FG then SF gets the ball marches down, kicks a FG and wins.
