  1. you could have a topic like "what would you rather do with a $25k inheritance check?: 1) spend it on a brand new car or 2) put it into a mutual fund that earns 6% interest but you can't touch it until retirement" most dummies would buy a sports car. that's why people are broke. they want instant gratification.
  2. interesting tactic used by 49ers to get him to sign. sending him to Lackawana to get some meatballs with Beane. i bet that deal got done quick after that. "sign this or you will spend the next decade of your life in wny"
  3. Adam Schefter‏Verified account @AdamSchefter FollowingFollowing @AdamSchefter More Credit to both @rajmathai and @MikeGarafolo, who have reported 49ers have deal in place with QB Jimmy Garoppolo; seems like only a matter of time. High-ranking 49ers' official texted: "Still working on it. Not done yet."
  4. when was the last time we picked a QB top 5? oh, never?? hmm that's weird that we have only had 1 good QB in our entire history. i wonder why
  5. I'd rather be drinking at the victory celebration parade after winning the Super Bowl! looks like fun
  6. I don't see Foles at the victory parade. someone check Air Pegula to see if it made a stop in Philly
  7. he must not have liked the meatballs in Lackawanna
  8. Mike Garafolo‏Verified account @MikeGarafolo FollowFollow @MikeGarafolo More The 49ers and QB Jimmy Garoppolo have agreed to a five-year, $137.5 million contract, source says. The biggest deal in NFL history on a average-per-year basis.
  9. Jimmy signed by 49ers Raj Mathai‏Verified account @rajmathai FollowFollow @rajmathai More #EXCLUSIVE: #49ers have reached agreement w/ Jimmy Garoppolo. Will be highest paid player in #NFL. Announcement soon to come.
  10. Give a man a fish and he eats for a night. Give a man a franchise QB and he eats for a lifetime. Or something like that
  11. News from last week. Things change. If they were close it would be done by now
  12. That's why they would want a trade partner set in stone. Thus the 3 team trade
  13. We will see! Both polarizing players
  14. instability has plagued us throughout the drought. it's a big issue to lose your entire defensive coaching staff this late in the process
  15. what typically happens is the DC takes his assistants with him and our entire defensive coaching staff would be gutted and everyone given promotions in Indy. once again, another season with a new offensive and defensive coaching staff. super late in the process to need to be adding new coaches false. we have had success on offense and defense. we just haven't been able to put it all together
  16. Despite their success, NE has had the most stability of anywhere I've ever seen as we just saw with McDaniels staying
  17. Buffalo continues to be a farm system for the big leagues. Any time we have success our players and coaches get plucked
  18. I thought they would sign him long term but maybe I'm just naive. I thought he had proved himself and they had already invested so much. Franchise QB's are hard to find and up until the Alex Smith trade there really wasn't any good options. If they wanted to move on I'm surprised they didn't draft a rookie last year knowing it would be Cousin's last
  19. Cousins wasn't available then and that was too good of a deal to pass up. Nobody saw the Alex Smith trade coming
  20. a bunch of drunk Eagles fans unleashed on the city in the middle of the day, what could go wrong?
  21. I like this game... Bills get: Jimmy G Skins get: Glenn, Bills extra 5th 49ers get: Cousins, Bills extra 1st I think more than that would be highway robbery but I'm cheap and in life things usually end up costing about double what I would expect
  22. Depends on who takes them. For example, Rosen on the Browns would be tough to watch but Rosen on the Giants and he would be a top 5 QB in the league. I have them ranked 1) Rosen 2) Darnold 3) Allen 4) Mayfield 5) Jackson 6) Rudolph 7) White Of them, I think 4 will be starters in the NFL. This is the best QB draft in at least the last 10 yrs, maybe the best since 2004. If we don't get a QB in this one then shame on us.
  23. The rest of the story is plausible (although highly unlikely) but the compensation doesn't make sense. Two 1sts would be too much to give up. He's not under contract unless they let him play out the year on the franchise tag at 23m guaranteed which could backfire for a number of reasons. 1) he could get hurt 2) that's more than he would make if he was inked long term 3) he could have a great year and then demand the highest contract in the NFL (Cousins type money). Spotrac says Jimmy's value is 18 mil per over 4 which seems super low. They used Brock Osweiler's deal as a model. I think based on the hype from the end of last season Jimmy will want to be over 20m annually. Unless they had it worked out ahead of time that he would sign what they would consider a team friendly deal that makese sense for everyone, it would be a big risk and a lot to give up. He could pull a Cousins and bet on himself and keep playing on the franchise tag every year until he's ready to get the highest contract ever. That's probably why this trade would be so unlikely. There's a lot that would have to be worked out and both players and all 3 teams would have to be in agreement. That's a lot of moving parts!
  24. watch him vs the Jags in week 16. wow!
  25. Shanahan prefers Cousins. it was highly speculated prior to landing Jimmy and now that Cousins is finally available and probably not that much more expensive than what they might see as an unproven player in Jimmy it might make sense if Jimmy wants too much money. they haven't signed him yet for a reason and not sure what that is. this is probably a ridiculous rumor but i'm trying to make sense of it if it was true. that would be one heck of a splash though
