  1. I suggest looking at the drive charts for this year. Outside of Patriots 1, and Bengals, Redskins (Where Williams most visibly gave up) the drive charts for the defense look similar to what you are touting as good. The defense was worse than last year, but was by no means awful, terrible, garbage, or any other derogatory remark people can think of. And of course don't even mention the injuries because those don't count.
  2. Of course it is upsetting we didn't make the playoffs with all the hype. I don't disagree that the defense got worse this year under Rex, but I don't subscribe to the idea that Rex is lost, and that the defense can't get better next year either. I also don't follow the hyperbolic statements that Rex needs to go. The defense did play good at certain points of the year no matter what anyone says about sacks, and I can't imagine the defense playing the same or worse without the amount of injuries we had. Another year under his system, additional pieces for his scheme, and not to mention the offense starting to gel, and maybe we get a couple more wins next year. Yeah, I don't think addition by subtraction is the way to go either. And the only reason I think it is time for Mario Williams to go is because I looked at the games on game pass, and he wasn't putting his full effort out there. Whether that's Rex's fault or not, the guy should have played, and he lost a lot of my respect. If you have complaints about the scheme, then fine, but do your job to the best of your abilities anyway, and the blame won't fall on you. Who knows what would've happened if he came to play against Philly or Washington.
  3. It's true some Bills fans do that, but other fans exaggerate and magnify current failures and put the blame of the drought squarely on whoever they can find/makes the most sense in their mind. (Ex. Give Rex a chance to create his program, and attempt to create something for us? Impossible, he didn't do it in year 1, so he won't ever - 16 years!!!!) It's fine if people hate Rex because the defense got worse, but this team was 8-8 this year, you would think it was 3-13 the way people are acting. Next year will be better, and there are reasons for hope, despite the assurances of the naysayers.
  4. I think the point was that Mario Williams should have been a grown up who made more than anyone else on the team, and do his job even if it doesn't suit his style. No one argues the defense was worse than last year. People argue that like Dareus, or Hughes, Mario should have put full effort in. How anyone can say he did, or that it's Rex's fault he didn't, or even worse it's Rex's fault he didn't pull Mario for not doing it, is ridiculous. That is why they will use Mario Williams as a scapegoat, because he actively didn't try. Maybe he got wind they were going to cut him, who knows, but he should have done his job to his full potential.
  5. Worst D since Wannstedt but better than Pettine's in PPG ("only defensive metric that matters")? Our D was worse than last year, but certainly better than people give it credit for. But that isn't popular right now because Rex is a guy that a person can just love to hate. Mario may be a scapegoat but it is by his own doing.
  6. The defense actually played very well against the Titans, Giants, Jaguars, Colts, Pats 2, Dolphins 1 and 2, Jets 1 and 2 despite the lack of sacks. No one will admit it though. Against the Giants, one play defined that loss, and it wasn't scheme, it was a missed tackle. Jaguars, despite Manuel spotting them 20 points the defense held them to 14 points. As for Mario, statistically Mario gave up after the BYE week, and although I am sure his complaints about scheme are valid, I wonder what would've happened those last 9 games if he had played. Not playing sure hurt worse than scheme. Post Bye Week (9 games - Mario 8 games) Mario 5 tackles (2 sacks) Dareus 21 tackles (1 sack) Bryant 15 tackles (0 sacks) Hughes 23 tackles (4 sacks) Pre Bye Week Mario (7 games) Mario 10 tackles (3 sacks) Dareus 17 tackles (1 sack) Williams/Bryant 19 tackles (0 sacks) Hughes 14 tackles (1 sack)
  7. but that 26-21 record means ol chip is a Belichick! edit .482 to .553 doesn't put Chip on the "much, much, better" track. Especially with the number of years discrepancy. Also Rex Ryan had a .583 record his first three years.
  8. Their point is to cheer lead. I dislike the mascots of most teams but I am not actively campaigning for their removal because "I don't see the point". They serve a purpose, how limited that purpose is or not is none of your concern. The problem I have with this whole lawsuit is that many women would go back to work for the Jills under the same exact conditions. Because it wasn't about minimum wage. Given the choice to work for slightly above minimum wage at any number of fast food restaurants or cheerleading under these "conditions", it would be a simple choice for them. They got something out of the whole ordeal that was beyond the $175 bucks a week or whatever. Plain and simple this is a few ex cheerleaders who were approached by a lawyer who said "wouldn't it be nice to get a lump sum payment for your troubles with the Bills? Tell me everything they put you through!", and thus you have the masses being manipulated by the strategic release of handbooks, and "prostitute like conditions".
  9. New Poll: Hoyer/Playoffs/This performance vs Tyrod/NoPlayoffs/Future. Go!
  10. Dolphins fans seem to think they got the hot candidate that everyone wanted.
  11. Not sure. He threw less picks, but less tds too. Maybe he passed the eye test a little better this year?
  12. Real statistical correlation because it fits your view this year? playoff teams/top 12 fewest ppg allowed 2014 6/12 2013 9/12 2012 7/12 That's not to say it doesn't matter, it certainly does. But it isn't the only factor. playoff teams/rushing ypg leaders 2015 6/12 2014 6/12 2013 7/12 2012 7/12 Bottom line was we had 4th in fewest total points allowed last year so under your "statistical correlation" we should have made the playoffs with ease.
  13. Did you take the other QB's rushing yards out as well?
  14. I guess it is when you make the playoffs consistently. Which is why certain QB's fall out of favor with fans because it is assumed they aren't getting it done. So the question really is does the franchise qb make the playoffs? Or do the playoffs make the franchise QB?
  15. Yes because different players are the same players because they have the Bills in common. You negative nancies are ridiculous sometimes. Quit taking 16 years out on other fans who actually want to root for their team. The cap will be fine. It will be stretched this year for sure, but our roster will not implode.
  16. I don't know, I watched the Kansas City 2nd half again, and as good as he was, Sammy wasn't getting open against those adjustments, and Tyrod was definitely staring him down. Maybe it is the play calling, but I still think a 2nd legitimate threat would open things up a little.
  17. Yeah, he has seemed to have improved, he just can't seem to get it completely right. Maybe its Buffalo. Both games he throws game ending picks. We've got to be in his head. I would love him here as a backup though. Instant confidence in him coming in and putting it all out there if Tyrod ever got hurt. He is certainly a class act. Wish the post bashed the Jets as a team more than just Fitz haha.
  18. If google is accurate, the Browns "won" McCown in Feb 27th, and we signed Tyrod March 18th. I'm not a fan of McCown, and am much happier with Tyrod at this point. Alternate history is a curious one though. How would this year have turned out if things were a bit different....

  20. Yeah I don't get it either. The only problem I had with Whaley was letting Fitz go and getting Kolb. Fitz wasn't the answer and he was certainly overpaid to be a backup, and he did want the starting role, but he would have been too much of a class act to sulk about it, and would've put his heart into the team when called upon. Feel like something would've turned out differently in that case. Who knows though, we might have never have picked up Tyrod, and we would be stuck with Manuel, and Fitz then. And I am telling you that you are attributing those wins to Marrone squeezing life out of the offense when in reality, our defense won a few of those games despite our offense.
  21. Also if Whaley was anti any other QB, then why did we bring in Taylor, have him win the competition and start? Was it just because Rex asked? Did Marrone not realize he could do that?
  22. How many of those 9 wins were defensive? Defense held teams to less than 17 points 8 times last season and went 7-1 as a result.
  23. We would have had 14th instead of 19th. I'll still take the win, the camaraderie, leadership and winning attitude over 5 draft spots and losing on purpose. As for the OP, my take home is that this offense needed a year to gel together. They performed better than expected, and will be even better next year. The amount of new players and players who have never played together is amazing, and they still did a great job. Can't wait to see them next year with a few more additions to fill the gaps. New Players: Tyrod Taylor LeSean McCoy Richie Incognito John Miller Charles Clay Percy Harvin Karlos Williams
  24. I agree, I don't think we necessarily need to give Sammy Watkins the ball 14 times a game, we aren't that type of offense with Shady, and now Karlos. You could see the chemistry between Tyrod and Sammy building over the course of the year though. I think they will only get better over time, and they are both developing into strong leaders on offense. I can see his point though. Just imagine Sammy in Pittsburgh with Antonio level targets.
  25. Why does Antonio Brown diminish Watkins abilities? Does Antonio Brown diminish Odell Beckhams abilities? Scratch that, I read that wrong. Geez Top 5 WR in Targets then Sammy: Julio Jones 204 Antonio Brown 195 DeAndre Hopkins 193 Brandon Marshall 174 Demaryious Thomas 176 Sammy Watkins 95
