  1. Did Maguire start his comments with "I'll tell you what..."?
  2. Yeah, that's why this board has KRC.
  3. So Maddox with Bettis as the "premiere back" (3.3 YPC) was worse than Roeth with the Staley/Bettis combo that averaged 4.0 YPC...with 11 more pass attempts per game in 2003....hmmmmmm....
  4. Since Roeth clearly outplayed Maddox he was handed the starting job in game one, correct? Or was it that the injury to Maddox forced them to play Roeth, so they adapted their game-plan to something a little simpler, propping their "not quite ready" (again, if he had been ready he would have been starting day 1) QB up for success? They clicked off 7 wins under Roeth before Maddox was ready to play again, so why play him then? They had a formula that worked. Don't pretend that Roeth playing 2004 was part of the plan, or that he "earned" the starting nod. Pitt hit a good formula for success with Roeth and stayed with it. The Bills went into 2005 with many assumptions that didn't pan out, included two that were key to Pitt's success in 2004: great defense and great running game...Then they threw Losman in figuring he wouldn't be expected to win the games with his arm...
  5. What you mean that the Steelers success with a young QB had something to do with the fact that they had a top defense + #1 in rushing attempts/game + #32 in passing attempts per game? No, it was all Big Ben. I mean, look at how he carried the team in the Super Bowl!
  6. We could have franchised and traded Winfield to the Texans for their #1 pick (they picked a CB, they obviously needed one), then taken Big Ben....
  7. Hey! Irritating inane Irv imitations are illegal now!
  8. You missed the option where we invoked the "tradeback" clause with New England that would allow us to trade Bledsoe back to NE straight up for Tom Brady. Then we could have traded the 2nd round pick (#43, the one we moved up from to get Losman) to Seattle straight up for Jones and Hutchinson. And without the Dallas trade, we'd still be ahead picks, so in 2005 we could have selected Heath Miller, after trading down with Indy for their #29 pick plus Jeff Saturday. Damn....TD sucked.
  9. Wasn't there rumors of some bad relationship-type thing going on? Nolan with Hasek's wife or something crazy like that? I know Hasek didn't care for Nolan...that much I remember...and I'm guessing that played a role in the "contract negotiations." Of course the real reason is that he's not a white chocolate American.
  10. I'd sign him if Holcomb wins the starting QB job...then we would not only have a replacement for Clements, we could let him play two-way and also have a #1 receiver to replace Moulds...
  11. Hurting hammy harms Hasek's hopes for gold... Stop me before I Irv again!
  12. Hasek's Hamstrung.
  13. MRI of Hasek's groin comes back negative.
  14. Gezhundheit!
  15. Without having seen the game, only the thrilling commentary provided here, I can come to one clear conclusion: Miller would have stopped that puck.
  16. This isn't live enough for you?
  17. Now I'm figuring something more like "Puck passing punks chuck/check Czech goalie." He was the man...
  18. It's as close as I could get to the famed "pistol packing punks" line.
  19. "Puck Passing Punks cause Czech to bounce. Story at 11."
  20. According to reports, the "groin...."
  21. That's why I left the link from the Wall. It won't disappear from there until new posts from X many different topics (X based on your configured "topics per page" push it off the front page...I could have left the link off, which would have given you cause to complain...
  22. ....watching guys skate....
  23. THEY ARE NOT OFFICIALLY HOTTIES UNTIL BBH PUTS UP A POLL IN ALL CAPS.
  24. Oh, yeah, hit "pause," walk out onto the field, put the player in the position to make the play, walk back to the sidelines, hit "play." Heck, you could even put your players in "fast forward" mode... Don't like the play? Change the channel. Maybe over to ESPN classic showing a replay of the 1990 AFC Championship game... Want to screw up the opposing offense? Turn up the volume. Marv is smart.
  25. Perhaps they were judged the same because they had the same number of capital letters in them? Wonder how that affected the voting...two of the threads were polls...
